an enjoyable stay !
The Tourist Office has created a list of accommodation for your benefit : public services and sporting and
cultural activities, health services, ski lifts, restaurants etc. to enable you to get the most out of our valley
and to help you to combine pleasure with ease of access.
This guide helps to simplify your task in planning your stay in our resort at the foot of Mont Blanc. The
Tourist Office staff wish you a pleasant stay, and remain at your service.

activities accessible or not to persons of limited mobility in the commune of Chamonix Mont-Blanc. It is
always advisable to contact the establishments themselves in order to obtain more specific information
for particular handicaps. This would also enable you to obtain the latest information.
In view of this, all comments or suggestions are welcome, to enable us to convey your different points
of view and take into account the obstacles which may be encountered by each of you

BEWARE Every underground car parks and car parks with barriers are pay
car parks. Concerning the pay car parks without barriers, as well as along
the street, parking is free (with handicapped parking sticker), but shall last
no longer than 2 hours. On the free car parks, parking shall not exceed 24
hours.
• Saint-Michel car park - 9 places in total. Only levels 1, 3 et 5 are served by the lift. Close to
the Tourist Office, the Maison de la Montagne (mountain information and ski school), the
Town Hall and the Municipal Police. WC close the desk cash.
• Mont-Blanc car park - 8 places in total. Close to the library, the Maison pour Tous (cultural
centre), the nursery, the sports centre and the water-sports centre.

CHAMONIX BUS
COMMUNAL TRANSPORT
Introduced on 9 July 2005, 3 Mercedes TPMR minibuses (adapted for disabled transport)
which are capable of transporting 1 person in a wheelchair being equipped with a portable
ramp..
These mini buses are marked “le mulet”. They are free.
These buses serve the centre of town.: Chamonix sud, Grépon car parks 1 and 2, Lyret,
Helbronner, Casino, M. Croz, place du Poilu, mediatheque, Les Mouilles, place du poilu, M.
Croz, SNCF railway station, Helbronner, Sapi, Entrêves .
Mini buses service the villages within the Chamonix Valley (on request). They are fitted with
access ramps and can transport passengers with reduced mobility – designated wheelchair
space..

This On Demand Transport service grants you the possibility of moving you from your
hamlets to the city center of Chamonix.
On Demand Transport is made so that the inhabitants of Chamonix, Les Houches and
Servoz needing disabled access (isolated and\or dependent old persons, isolated families,
handicapped persons, damaged persons) can move to the center of Chamonix with the other
travelers taken up residence near.
On Demand Transport is easy:
1. Become a member of the service for one year by paying 10€ during the first
route. (Membership card = subscription).
2. Book the day before you need the transport, before 5:00 pm by phone at 04 50 53 05
55. You can also book 4 hours before, subject to the vehicule availibility. For the
week-end and the monday, please book the friday.
3. The next day, a minibus will be on time at the defined stop point (Go 5 minutes before
the schedule fixed by the councilor).
4. Let yourself be transported to destination towards Chamonix or Houches.
5. For the return trip, the coverage is also made at a stop point and time defined during
the confirmation of your booking.
Available all year long (except public holidays) from Monday till Friday and Saturday morning
work of stop with stop from 8:30 am till 12:00 am and from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm.
Depending on your trip, you can ask for the On Demand Transport between where you live
and the center of Chamonix and Houches :

Town Hall : All the town halls in the valley are accessible. Chamonix has a lift and handicap
toilet.
MAPA (Retirement home) : accessible.
Tourist Offices : all the tourist offices in the valley are accessible + handicap toilet in
Chamonix, Argentière and les Houches.
Tax Office and Public Treasury : accessible + parking space next to the office.
Maison pour tous (culture and activities) Chamonix : Access ramps at the entrance. No
adapted toilets. All services on the ground floor, therefore no need for a lift.
Municipal Police: accessible.
SNCF railway station : no train accessible
Pole Emploi (job centre) Door opens outwards.
Everything is on the ground floor. However, the pavement has no lowered kerb in front of or
near the building.
Montenvers station : one lowered ticket desk. Handicap toilets.
To access the train, please warn the staff in advance (they will take care of you). If you are a
group, please give advance warning to the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc and in particular to the
Montenvers station on

Post Office : Chamonix: building accessible by ramp, but the entrance lobby is really an
airlock with a manual door. The internal cash desks are not lowered. The cash machine is
outside the building and is accessible as it is lowered. For posting letters, the letter boxes are
currently not lowered but could be accessible.
Les Houches and Servoz : accessible

PGHM (Police mountain rescue centre) : Inaccessible.

and adapted. 1 weel chair to enter the pool. Gymnasium-Fitness centre accessible, but you
must first go to the main desk.
Guides Companies : Qualified companions and guides.
Ski schools ESF : Qualified Instructors. Welcome desk at Chamonix sud, and Argentiere
and Bellevue les Houches : accessibles.
Indoor skating : Accessible via the bar “la lucarne” situated at the side. Handicapped toilets.
Access to public changing area and skate hire.
Paraglider landing site: Accessible if accompanied
It is a path (start of the footpath and mountain bike track in summer and the start of the
cross-country ski tracks in the winter).
Tennis courts/covered tennis courts: Accessible. 1 WC accessible and adapted, but one
step to enter the changing rooms. Also, in order to get to the entrance it is necessary to go
via the promenade du Fori, along the Arve, which is the flat path.
Cross country ski centre: Slopes are accessible but you need to be accompanied if you
want to go go to the office because there are several steps.
Boules pitches: Accessible except for the café and the toilettes.
Summer toboggan and Forest of Adventure: Not recommended unless well assisted. Bar
restaurant and WC accessible and adapted.
Maison de la montagne (mountain Information centre : sloping pavement for access to the
front of the building. The entrance hall is inaccessible (Guides Office, High Mountain Office

LOISIRS ASSIS EVASION
An association which develops and provides a framework for activities in the open air, in the
mountains for handicapped persons with a motor deficiency, visual, auditory or mental
impairment, and their helpers, supported by mountain professionals.
Summer, accompaniment of individuals or groups for :

CHAMONIX CENTER
The Bois du Bouchet path
Inaugurated the 18th of July 2012
Adapted to all disabilities, this nice shady
walk is about 1 km long and will allow you,
alone or with your family, to discover our
natural heritage.
Located a few minutes from the center of
town, this path is punctuated by 4 stations
allowing you to learn, helped by explanatory
panels, about the world of the mountains, forest and fauna.
This educational trail is also accessible from the village of les Bois.
There, you will find a “young forest”, a testimony to the receding of the glaciers as well as
vestiges of activity of the old quarry, now disappeared, and many open windows on the
vertiginous ”aiguilles de Chamonix.
CIMBO AND FTT TRACK PLANPRAZ - CHAMONIX
Panoramic itinerary above the Chamonix valley, viewing Mont Blanc. Easy path with no
particular difficulty.

Level : easy
Going out the gondola, go behind the restaurant direction Vallorcine. The track turns 1 km
further just in front of the chair-lift. The final part is easy rolling.
In town you can easily use chemin du Fori, chemin des cristalliers.

park quite easily

AIGUILLE DU MIDI
Site accessible except for the ticket office windows. You can access the summit
of the Aiguille du Midi. The passage from the first stage to the second
stage can be made without any real difficulty. However, it is not possible for
you to stop at the Plan de l’Aiguille if you are unaccompanied, (stairs to get to
the cafe). Once you have reached the second level you will have access to
the Belvédère Rébuffat, the summit terrace 3842m and the “walking on air” to get an
adrenaline buzz.
WARNING : YOU CANNOT GET OVER THE GÉANT GLACIER VIA
THE MONT-BLANC PANORAMIC CABLE CAR TO GET TO HELBRONNER POINT IN ITALY (for
reasons of safety).

MONTENVERS TRAIN - MER DE GLACE
Site accessible, except the “ bar Panoramic ” and the ice cave.
One accessible and lowered ticket desk. Portable ramps for getting onto the
train: by request.
Telephone in advance if you are in a group. You will need to sign a disclaimer.
Once there, the terrace, the cafe “ buffet de la Gare ” (access at the side), the
official Montenvers shop, the snackbar “ Le Margot ” are accessible, as is the
crystal gallery and the Grand Hôtel du Montenvers.

FROM CHAMONIX VALLEY
DOMAINE DE BALME
Cash desk inaccessible. To get to the lift cabins (first stage), go along the right
hand side of the ticket office (very steep slope). Then there is an automatic
ramp.
You will need to fold up your wheel chair in order to get into the cabins.
When you arrive at the end of the first stage, there is a short descent on gravel.
The “ Chalet de Charamillon ” is accessible if accompanied (because there is a
step to get onto the terrace). There are also adapted toilets (access at the base of
the building). The start of the chair lift to get to the Col de Balme (second
stage) is accessible, but the arrival cannot be managed without help because
there are 5-6 steps to get to the path which leads to the Col de Balme. Once you
have overcome this obstacle you can get to the Col de Balme by the footpath if
you are accompanied.

LOGNAN -LES GRANDS MONTETS
The ski area of Lognan is now accessible thanks to an access ramp, a bit
steep and not certified.To use this ramp, the presence of a compagnion is
necessary. The ski area is accessible for uniskis except for the Grand Montets
cable-car.
