Each fall, communities throughout the United States and Canada join together to honor the spirit of giving in their own regions. National Philanthropy Day® offers an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of charitable giving. It is coordinated and supported on an international scale by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). In November 2011, more than 1,000 people attended San Diego’s National Philanthropy Day celebration. This commitment from the San Diego community proves that organizations and individuals are truly beginning to understand the culture of philanthropy. About AFP San Diego Chapter’s Mission AFP, an association of professionals throughout the world, advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice effective and ethical fundraising. The AFP San Diego Chapter upholds the mission of the international association and advances philanthropy in the San Diego region by Core Activities: The Chapter fulfills its mission through education and training, promoting credentialing, and providing resources, networking, mentoring, advocacy and recognition.
