The Half Backfeaturesan aluminumback-stay anatomically designedfor the cervicalportion of the spinalcolumn.This uniquedesigneliminates the needfor any rollor extrapadding to supportthe victimbhead, and it will not interferewith cervicalx-rays, The optionalVerticalLift StrapAssemblyallowsthe Half Back to be used in two distinctly different ways. First,with the in place,the Half Backwill verticallylift aluminumback-stay a suspectedcervical/spinalinjury victim during confined spaceextrication.(Verticalliftingof this type of victimis not recommendedunlessno other meansare evident.)Secondly, the Half Backcan be quicklyconvertedinto a verticalliftl harnesssimplyby removingthe aluminum extrication/rescue Thisuniquefeatureallowsthe HalfBackto be used back-stay. as a safetyharnessfor rescuepersonnelas well as a vertical injuriesare lift harnessfor the victim when cervical/spinal not suspected. The interior of the Half Backis a non-absorbent,closed-cell foam.
