CRICKET

Games: Wednesday, after school, Dunedin. Still in planning stage, but wanting expression
of interest. Cost TBA. Parents are expected to join the mini van driving roster and assist
with transport or pay extra transport costs.
Uniform: School PE uniform and appropriate footwear is expected at tournaments.

EAST OTAGO HIGH SCHOOL
SUMMER SPORTS
INFORMATION
Games: Linked with the East Otago Dart Association. Practice will be at Waikouaiti
Racecourse on a Wednesday night at 7pm. Otago Championship Tournament is late
November.
Cost: Free. Transport to and from Palmerston is possible.
Uniform: School uniform to be worn at tournaments.
WATERPOLO
Teacher in Charge: Mrs Jess Melrose
Secondary - Friday after 3.45pm at Moana Pool. Practices weekly at the school pool.
Parents are expected to join the mini van driving roster and assist with transport or pay
extra transport costs.
Intermediate - Thursday after 3.45pm at Moana Pool. Practices weekly at the school pool.
Parents are expected to join the mini van driving roster and assist with transport or pay
extra transport costs.
Cost: $70 (incl. van + roster), $90 (incl. van, no roster) $20 (own transport). Individual pool
fee to Moana Pool is also required.
Uniform: Good quality swimming togs, goggles, water polo cap.
GOLF
Teacher in Charge / Coach: Mr Mike Fuller
Games / Events: Linked with Ardleigh Golf Club. Weekly after school practice on a
Tuesday or Wednesday. Cost: $40 per year for students wanting to join Ardleigh Golf Club. Small cost for transport
to club and course from school.
Uniform: School PE uniform and appropriate footwear is expected at tournaments and
games.

Welcome to the EOHS summer sports season. All the information we have to date is
provided here about the sports we have on offer. There will always be updates and news
so please check the notices, emails, sport notice board and the school newsletter.
All sports require 100% commitment so please make your selections carefully.
SUMMER 2015/16
FUTSAL
Teacher in Charge: Mrs Rowan Holt
Junior team- Tuesdays from 3.45pm at Edgar Centre. Practice once a week lunchtime at
school. School PE uniform to be worn with appropriate footwear. $50 (incl. van + roster),
$70 (incl. van), $20 (own transport). Entry fee to Edgar Centre $2.50 each week.
VOLLEY BALL
Teacher in Charge: Mrs Leonie Lawrence
Coach: Mr Johnny Herewini
Events: Inter school with Tokomairiro High School and Quad with Central Otago Schools.
Opportunities to join rep teams and squad workshops. Parents are expected to join the
mini van driving roster and assist with transport or pay extra transport costs. A fee of $2.50
per game is paid individually for entry to the Edgar centre.
An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets. He must
run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head.

EQUESTRIAN

Events / Workshops: Currently there are 2 interschools - Gore Pony Club on 1st
November and Taieri Pony Club in March. The team are encouraged to wear school colours
at local events. Opportunities to join training days, games, jumping and dressage for riders
of all levels and links with Waikouaiti Pony Club. Opportunity to work toward Level 2 and 3
NCEA credits through the Telford STAR programme.
Cost: Depending on events, entry fees approx. $10- 30. All teams members will be
expected to manage their own horse expenses and share costs of transport if necessary.
Senior A Girls - Games Monday from 4.15pm. Practice Tuesday & Thursday lunchtime.
EOHS Volleyball uniform to be worn with appropriate footwear. $60 (incl. uniform, van and
roster) $90 (incl. van + no roster) $30 (own transport)
Uniform: School jersey, tie, cream/white jodhpurs, riding boots, approved safety helmet.
School saddle blanket, brow band and hat cover.
Senior Boys Social - Games Monday from 4.15pm. Practice one lunchtime. School PE
uniform to be worn. $50 (incl. van + roster). $70 (incl. van) $20 (own transport)
SWIMMING
Junior A Girls - Games Friday from 4.15pm. Practice Tuesday & Thursday lunchtime.
School PE uniform to be worn with appropriate footwear. $50 (incl. van + roster). $70 (incl.

Mini Volleyball - Games Friday either 4pm or 4.30pm. Practice one lunchtime School PE
uniform to be worn. $50 (incl. van + roster). $70 (incl. van) $20 (own transport)

Training / Events: Anyone who wants to gain personal fitness or train for an event can join
the school Swim Training Squad, lunchtimes and 1 morning a week at EOHS pool.
For extra competition and training we have link with East Otago Swim Club at Moana Gow
pool on Monday or Tuesdays from 4.30pm. Swimmers can also work together with
Endurance Running for training and create teams for Triathlon and Duathlon.
Cost: EOHS Swim Squad - Free. Membership for East Otago Swim Club - $50 per term. TOUCH

Uniform: Good quality swimwear and googles.
ENDURANCE RUNNING Teacher in Charge/Coach: Mr Peter Murray
Training / Events: Anyone who wants to gain personal fitness or train for an event can join
the school Endurance Running Squad. Lunchtime training 3 x week around routes near the
school. Emphasis on voluntary, enjoyment and self motivation. Take part in Cross Country,
Marathons, Mud Runs and Marathons. Runners can also work together with swimming for
training and create teams for Triathlon and Duathlon.
Games: Tennis will be linked with the East Otago Tennis Club. Still in planning stage, but
wanting expression of interest. Games and coaching will be once a week afternoon/
evening. Cost TBA.
Cost: EOHS Endurance Running Squad - Free. Individual events incur an entry fee
between $3min - 40max.
Uniform: School PE uniform and appropriate footwear is expected at tournaments.
Uniform: Appropriate running attire and footwear, unless competing at events where
school PE uniform is required.
