Ambient Assisted Living (AAL)
Ambient Assisted Living as a concept aims to prolongate the
time people can live in a decent way in their own home by
increasing their autonomy and self-confidence, the discharge of
monotonously everyday activities, to monitor and care for the
elderly or ill person, to enhance the security and to save
resources.

Pattern recognition
for AAL application

Recognizing and analyzing behavior patterns
(ADL - Activities of Daily Living)
 Non-invasive and obtrusive Home Automation sensors
(PIR-Sensors, door- und window contacts etc.)
 No cameras or microphones



Detection of dangerous situations
Aim: Improve the safety and autonomy from older
person in their own environment
challanges
 New algorithms of fusion of state-of-the art solutions
 Persons separation
 Self-Learning Systems

Design, develop and evaluate an innovative user-centric technological solution, the Virtual
Support Partner (VSP), attending to the elder (65+) daily activity and safety needs, while the
elder goes about his normal daily life.
