The stairs will remain up until Memorial Day. When driving through the neighborhood, please respect the posted speed limits and stop at the stop signs. It is with great sadness that we report the passing of two of our dear longtime friends and neighbors. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their families. PAGE 2 OF 4 Jack Dawson Mr. John J. Dawson, Jr., of Waltham and Manomet, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his home. Jack was born in Brighton on July 25, 1950, only son of the late John J., Sr. and Marie (Doyle) Dawson, and was a lifelong Waltham resident. He graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and Suffolk University in Boston, and was a corrections officer for twenty years at the Massachusetts Correctional Facility in Concord. He was a member and trustee of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Lexington and spent many happy days fishing and lobstering on his boat off the coast of Manomet. Jack leaves his daughters, Kelly, Maureen and Meagan Dawson, all of Waltham. Family and friends honored and remembered Jack's life by gathering at The Joyce Funeral Home, in Waltham, MA, where his funeral was held on October 2, 2009. Burial was private. Memorial donations may be made to Partners Hospice, 281 Winter Street, Suite 200, Waltham, MA 02451 Paul Reid Paul Reid, of Plymouth, passed away at home and was a self-employed business on October 28th at the age of 77. Beloved consultant. He lived in Plymouth for 33 husband of the late Geraldine (Anderson) He years, was a Life Scout and an avid nature is survived by his children Donna Kochis of enthusiast and conservationist. Box 349 Manomet, MA 02345 E-Mail: info@ manometbeachshores. org news@ manometbeachshores. org Summers to Remember 2010 MBSA Membership Dues In order to keep our beach private, and thereby keep our neighborhood a desirable place to live, the MBSA must charge dues to cover the costs. 20% of our dues go toward the payment of the Property Taxes levied by the Town of Plymouth on the beach. 60% of our budget goes to Property Maintenance, such as the stairs, the ramp, the seawall, the overlook, the entrance sign, beach access, and a reserve fund for storm damage. 10% goes for Summer Social Events (great ways to meet your neighbors and find out what is going on in the neighborhood). The remaining 10% covers the cost of Administration and Communications. Please do your part. Become a member of the Manomet Beach Shores Association, and send in your dues payment with the form and envelope provided in this newsletter. At only $60 per year (the cheapest in South Plymouth), it is a good investment in the value of your property! ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION… The MBSA general meetings are held semi-annually. The first semi-annual meeting is held on the Sunday preceding the Fourth of July weekend, June 27th, 2010 @ 11am, and the second semi-annual meeting will be held on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, September 5th, 2010 @ 11am. All meetings are held in the Indian Brook Association Club House, located at the top of the boat ramp leading to the beach.
