Camp projects and activities change yearly! CLOSER LOOK Ages 5 & 6 BACKYARD HABITATS Ages 7 & 8 Date: June 20-24 Time: 9 a.m. to noon Date: June 27 – July 1 Times: 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $70 Dates: June 27 - July 1 or July 4-8 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $100 This discovery based camp nurtures children's curiosity, wonder, and creativity. Using the natural world as a catalyst for growth and development, children will develop connections to Earth by engaging in experiences with plants and animals. ARTVENTURES Ages 7 & 8 Campers will investigate the world around them and discover what’s hiding in the forest, in the wetland, and in the meadow. Learn about the special adaptations animals have to survive in Northeastern PA. This camp is filled with plenty of outdoor fun with time for discovery, learning, hiking, nature crafts, and playing. ECO EXPLORERS Ages 9 & 10 Date: July 18-22 or July 25-29 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $100 Dates: July 4-8 or July 11-15 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $100 Campers will explore various mediums and techniques using nature as inspiration. Art projects include clay pots, story books, painting, and a group mural. Other activities include pattern investigations, a clay dig, hiking, and outdoor games. Join us for a week of fun and adventure! Campers will spend time exploring the natural habitats on the 211-acre LCEEC property while learning about local ecosystems and understanding the interconnectedness of all life. Campers will participate in experiential activities centered on discovery, team work, outdoor exploration, hiking, nature crafts, fun and games. This project was supported by a Lackawanna County Arts and Culture Community grant a program of Lackawanna County Commissioners Patrick M. O’Malley, Jerry Notarianni and Laureen Cummings. WILDERNESS SURVIVAL Ages 9 & 10 ECO QUEST Ages 11 to 13 Date: July 18-22 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $120 Date: July 11-15 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: $100 Under the guidance of skilled outdoorsman Mike Dennis of Traditional Earth Skills, children will learn survival skills, increase self-confidence, and gain a newfound respect and sense of responsibility for the world around them. Activities include plant identification, fire by friction, shelter building and animal tracking. Eco Quest camp combines outdoor recreation with concepts of natural history and conservation to develop campers’ eco-awareness and leadership skills. Highlights include a live animal presentation, field research techniques, outdoor skills, hiking, geocaching, and team building obstacles. This project was sponsored in part by the Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area in partnership with Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and National Resources and the National Park Service. 8-DAY PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY 3-Credit College Course for High School Students Ages: 14-18 NEW! Date: July 27-29 & Aug. 1-5 Earn College Time: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Credits Cost: $300 Course code ESC 135: 3 undergraduate credits Join us on an 8-day adventure that will immerse students into a wide range of Earth science topics! This hands-on field experience is a 3-credit college course designed for high school students or recent high school graduates. The course includes a field trip to the Nay Aug Gorge & Archbald Pothole State Park along with expert guest lecturers. Class will be held at LCEEC and will use the 211-acre property as a living-laboratory. Key topics include geology, the atmosphere, climate, geography, and mapping.
