The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously. 2. The flag is never allowed to touch the ground or the floor. 3. When hung over a sidewalk on a rope extending from a building to a pole, the union stars are always away from the building. 4. When vertically hung over the center of the street, the flag always has the union stars to the north in an east/west street, and to the east in a north/south street. 5. The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of states or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs. 6. The flag should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds but always allowed to fall free. 7. The flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon on Memorial Day and then raised to the top of the staff. 8. Never fly the flag upside down except as a signal of distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property. 9. The flag is never flown in inclement weather except when using an all-weather flag. 10. The flag can be flown every day from sunrise to sunset and at night if illuminated properly. 6 GLENWOOD GAZETTE SEPTEMBER, 2011 E 35 Certified years in business No complaints unresolved 35 Years in Monthly Media CENTURY AWNINGS • Fabric & Aluminum AWNINGS • MINI BLINDS 10 OFF • ALL WEATHER CURTAINS • VERTICAL BLINDS % to Park Residents • Free Estimates • Licensed & Insured PRODUCTS LOCALLY MADE - SINCE 1959 559-8811 13170-AQUALITY 90th Street N., Largo • Previously Located on Starkey Road 50 31 Family Owned & Operated TM Carpet Color Systems Since 1976 CARPET CLEANING Living Room, Dining Area, & Hall 85 $ 00 (up to 400 sq. feet... small furniture moved) FREE BEDROOM (traffic areas only) UGLY DRIVEWAY? With all of the frequent rain storms, it is causing rapid weed growth. This is a reminder to have your caretaker check on your unit regularly. This is the unit owners responsibility to stay on top of things or the Board has the authority to get someone and the unit owner will be charged. Reminder regarding pets in Glenwood Estates. In the event the pet defecates within the Condominium property, the owner of that pet shall be required to pick up and dispose of the waste properly. Please routinely check your sprinkler timers to make sure they are operating correctly. If your sprinkler goes off on days not scheduled or proper watering time, the unit owner can be cited by Swiftmud. Have you had the opportunity to check the pool out? We have had numerous compliments on the painting of the cool deck. Please thank both Phil Tua and paul Davis (maintenance) for a job well done! Health Report - Prayers and Cards Welcome Mary Cronin 596-7488 _____________________________________________________________________ C aryl LaVergne #189 is recovering from liver surgery after having 1/3 of her liver removed. She is walking and her prognosis is looking really good! She hopes to return to Glenwood in November. Paul Culatta, Unit #56 recently had stints put in and he is recuperating at home. He is doing well! Patricia Welch, Unit #223 has been admitted to Largo Hospital. Herman McIntosh, Unit #92 is under the care of Hospice. In Memory of: _____________________________________________________________________ Margaret Wilson, Unit #130 who passed away on July 27th. New Investment Strategy: Don’t Invest? ____________________________________________________________________ T he stock market may have rebounded from the nosedive it took in 2008, but investors’ confidence apparently hasn’t. A survey by Prudential Finance of 1,000 investors found that 58 percent say they have lost their faith in the stock market, and 44 percent say they never plan to invest their money in the market again. Still, investment experts expect that most “once burned, twice shy” investors will ultimately return to the fold. It is vital to have reserve battery packs in the event of a power outage. By having a reserve pack this allows the system to continue operating without any delays due to an outage. This will prevent your sprinklers going off at the wrong time of day and/or day, therefore your timer will always maintain the accurate time scheduled to irrigate. Please pay attention to Glenwood Estates watering schedule listed AND routinely replace your batteries.
