Message
This is my favorite time of the year!
I have always loved this time of year, especially
since I became involved with the MRCC. This
colorful seasonal change means that several
great Chamber events are right around the corner.
On November 6, we will host our always popular and very well attended “Taste of the Region
& Business Showcase” at the Crowne Plaza
Hotel in Suffern, NY. This is always a fun event
and provides participants an opportunity to network as well as sample delicious food & wine
from local restaurants.
On December 13, the Chamber hosts it’s “Annual Holiday Luncheon” at the Crowne Plaza. This
is one of the Chambers biggest and best events.
We will, as we do every year, honor our 2013 Citizen, Organization and Company of the Year.
I have one more very exciting event to tell you
about – our Superbowl Host Committee sanctioned event – the MRCC “Super Community
Spirit Showcase”! This one-of-a-kind event will
take place on January 22, 2014 at the Sheraton
Mahwah Hotel. All ages are welcome as there
will be something for everyone. The idea behind
this event is simple; showcase and celebrate
local non-profit organizations while having a lot
of fun gearing up for the “Big Game.” Please
check out our website for details on this event
as well as all of the other great events that we
offer. www.mahwah.com
All of us at the Chamber value our special relationship with all of our members. We have members from over 90 communities in both NJ & NY.
We truly are a regional chamber.
Cheers!

“The base of our busiL to r Hector Mota and Stuness is from Mahwah,
art Rosenberg, proprietor
Ramsey and Suffern, it
always has been,” Rosenberg said. “And we’ve always been very cognizant of, and grateful for, the

• MRCC is delighted to have welcomed an intern,
Samantha Roth, to the Chamber last month.
Samantha is a senior at the Bergen County
Academies in Hackensack in the Academy for
Culinary Arts and Hospitality Administration. In
order to satisfy their curriculum, seniors must attend an internship each
Wednesday of the school
year. While Samantha is
with us she hopes to learn more about event planning and small business management.
• Prestige Motors recently held a launch event
for the all-new 2014 CLA-Class and S-Class. The
incredibly innovative and impeccably designed
vehicles were the highlights of the evening, of
course, which featured a plethora of sensory experiences.
Above: Jennifer Davis, MRCC Membership Coordinator; Bob
Greenberg, INSBOB.com; and Maureen Huggins, MRCC
Events Coordinator, greet guests at Biz Expo.
The event, held at Prestige’s headquarters in Paramus, included three lounges, two for the S-Class
and one for the CLA-Class. Each showcased different flavors, sights, sounds, and smells. Both SClass lounges delivered delicately prepared
pairings of chocolate and wine, while the CLAClass lounge offered guests chocolate with two
hand-selected beers from beer guru Gretchen
Schmidhausler, owner of GretchenBrew LLC.
The tastings, which were put on by ChocoVin,
were a big hit. In all, guests enjoyed nearly 4,500
chocolates.
Below: Mary Ann’s Gourmet Market held their Grand Opening
on May 4 with family, friends and members of MRCC. Check
out their delicious menu or visit their store at 1011 MacArthur
Boulevard, Mahwah
DJ Shiran Nicholson and world-renowned
electronic violinist Sarah Charness provided the
first-class entertainment.
The event was a great success and
Prestige Motors could not have been
happier with the results. Events like
these make the dealership proud to
serve New Jersey and the surrounding area. This will certainly not be
the last event for Prestige, but it may
have been the best —and tastiest—
thus far.

MrCC 2013 22nd Annual golf outing Follow up
If you attended this year’s Outing then you know that the
weather was flawless for both golf and socializing on the
outdoor patio at the Humanitarian of the Year dinner. We
had a record number of Chamber members attend both the
day and evening activities, with many returning after enjoying previous years’ events.
Inserra Supermarkets, Inc. and Sharp Electronics Corporation were our top level sponsors, and
we encourage you to support their
business as they support your Chamber. “I would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to all of our sponsors
who contributed to the success, as
well as the hardworking golf committee, and the MRCC Board of Directors,” offered Deborah Richin, VP
of the Golf Outing. We look forward
to seeing you all again next year, on
Monday September 8, 2014.
Laura Lassman, the President and
Founder of Play for P.I.N.K®., was the
first woman to receive our prestigious
Humanitarian of the Year Award. We
partnered with Play for P.I.N.K. in
2013, and will be presenting the charitable
donation to this well deserving organization at our Holiday Luncheon on Friday, December 13, 2013. The MRCC
is committed to giving back to the
community and a portion of the 22nd
Annual Golf Outings net proceeds
will support the research necessary
to find a cure for Breast Cancer.

nominations Sought
for 2014 humanitarian
The MRCC Golf Committee is seeking nominations for our next Humanitarian of the
Year to be honored at the 2014 Humanitarian
of the Year Dinner.
If your organization is a member of the
MRCC as of December 31, 2013, you are eligible to nominate an individual that you believe is a worthy recipient. The nominee must
be a resident of the NY Metropolitan area.
Application guidelines will be available by
November 8, 2013 and will require a short
essay as to why you think the individual is a
good candidate, a short bio, and a picture.
You may include up to 2 additional documents
to support your candidate. All applications
are due to the Chamber office by Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
“I strongly recommend all of our member organizations to take this opportunity to nominate as they will be the beneficiaries of the
charitable donation,” encouraged Deborah
Richin,” I also advocate to our membership if
you are involved in a 501(c)(3) that is not a
member, they can still join the Chamber and
qualify to nominate.”
Depending upon the number of applications
we will announce the top three candidates at
the Super Community Spirit Showcase on
Wednesday January 22, 2014. What a great
way to kick off the New Year!
David Webber of Torne Valley Vineyards and Lisa Mecray Rogers of Luxx
Chocolat, LLC, (far left) hosted an informative Wine Pairing at the winery,
located in Hillburn, NY.
MRCC’s Super Community Spirit Showcase was “kicked-off” at a Tailgate
Luncheon held at the Mason Jar in Mahwah.
