Look Park, is the debut album from Chris Collingwood, lead singer and founding member
of Fountains of Wayne, under the moniker, Look Park. It features his pop sensibilities
and unmistakable vocals he made famous in Fountains. Similar to the way Fountains of
Wayne chose its name based on a garden store that was located near the band's
rehearsal space, Look Park takes its name from a park near Collingwood's home.
Fountains of Wayne have sold over 750,000 albums in the US. Their last album on Yep
Roc, Sky Full of Holes, has shipped over 20,000 CDs and over 2,000 LPs worldwide. The
album has been downloaded over 16,000 times in North America.
The self-titled Look Park debut album was produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello,
Crowded House, Sheryl Crowe, The Pretenders, Los Lobos). Highlights include,
"Aeroplane," "Shout pt. 1" and "Stars of New York."
“Aeroplane” is the album’s lead single. It’s a whimsical, melodic track that whisks the
listener away, reflecting on where Collingwood’s been and where he’s going. Following a
standard pop-rock structure, the song leads into a dynamic chorus that has the power to
levitate you. Strings, twinkling piano, romantic acoustic guitar, and classic electric guitar
weave together beneath the lyrical introspection. While Collingwood sings, “Aeroplane, I
am already in you/ Do you wonder where I’ve been, where I’m going to, do you wonder
how the soul survives?” he questions his past, present, and future, but hands us a first
class ticket onto his latest venture.

Katatonia was formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse. Their debut album,
'Dance of December Souls', was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for their
eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal & joining acts such as Paradise Lost & My
Dying Bride as one of the genre's defining bands.
'Viva Emptiness' was Katatonia's sixth studio album & is considered among the band's
strongest works; a step up even over the seemingly insurmountable greatness of previous
release, 'Last Fair Deal gone Down'. The album was recorded at the famous Soundtrade
Studios (part of the 301 group) in Stockholm in October/November 2002 & released the
following year. It further refines Katatonia's unique & poignant brand of melodic dark rock

Eggs Over Easy, the American band that invented pub rock, influenced the careers of Nick
Lowe, Huey Lewis, Loudon Wainwright III and Elvis Costello, and laid the groundwork for a
grass-roots movement that would spawn UK punk, is finally getting its due with a deluxe
2xCD/3xLP (released 5th August) set.
With roots stretching back to late 1960s Berkeley, CA, the three principals in the Eggs
songwriters Jack O'Hara, Austin de Lone, and Brien Hopkin's would by early 1971 find
themselves ensconced in London's Olympic Studios, lured by Animals bassist and Jimi Hendrix
producer/manager Chas Chandler, and an apparitional record deal. When said deal went bust
the Eggs did what any American band would do, Stiff Records co-founder Dave Robinson told a
journalist. They went to the nearest bar and said, "Give us your worst night".
Which is how Eggs Over Easy leapt onto the pages of pop music history. Their humble Monday
night gigs at a former jazz club called the Tally Ho' Pub rock ground zero - would become the
hub for a network of artists, venues, and music business machers that included back-to-basics
groups Ducks Deluxe, Bees Make Honey and Dr. Feelgood, DJ's John Peel and Charlie Gillett,
and hustlers like Jake Riviera and Mr. Robinson.
For the first time ever, the entire Eggs Over Easy catalogue, lovingly remastered and restored,
is available as a deluxe set. Included in this collection is their debut album Good 'n' Cheap,
produced by Link Wray and originally released on A&M Records in 1972, their rarely-heard
second LP, Fear of Frying, originally (if barely) released on Lee Michael's Squish Records in
1980, two songs from the band's lone single released on Buffalo Records, and the previously
unreleased London sessions produced by Chandler.
The 2xCD package includes a 24-page booklet with extremely rare photos, show flyers, early
press clippings, musician and writer credits, plus the definitive story of the band by acclaimed
music writer Gene Sculatti, who called Good 'n' Cheap a near-masterpiece when he reviewed it
for Creem Magazine in 1972.

To mark their 30th anniversary The Wonder Stuff released their eighth studio album, '30
Goes Around The Sun', on March 19th 2016 - thirty years to the day since the band first
walked into a rehearsal studio in the heart of The Black Country in 1986. The band chose
to revisit it's old stomping ground of Stourbridge to record the album and even managed
to persuade renowned heavy metal and hard rock producer, Simon Efemey (Paradise
Lost/Napalm Death/The Wildhearts), to return to his home town to produce the record.
Having just toured the UK, Holland and Japan, The Wonder Stuff play a handful of festivals
over the summer and autumn before embarking on a December tour. Front man Miles
Hunt is appearing on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff and Sara Cox's BBC Radio 2 show as
well as many more over the coming months.

The classic 1997 debut of Norwegian avant-garde black metal from Solefald. Presented on vinyl
for the first time. This edition is presented on 180gm heavyweight vinyl.
Solefald (the name taken from the Old Norse word for sunset) formed in Norway in 1995 by
members Lars Are "Lazare" and Cornelius Jakhelln. The band never fit in with conventional genre
labelling, always possessing a keen dedication towards experimentation, and were therefore
classified as avant-garde black metal.
'The Linear Scaffold' was the band's debut full-length album and was originally released in 1997. It
was seen as a breakthrough in black metal at the time incorporating countless fresh ideas such as
jazzy guitar passages and alternative instruments such as piano to concoct an atmosphere
altogether more interesting than many of their peers.
Still as fresh sounding today, this symphonic black metal album stands out with its dynamic twists
and poetic imagery from the words of Cornelius, further enhanced with the inclusion of 'When
The Moon Is On The Wave' written by Lord Byron.
Aside from both members' work with other bands, including Borknagar and Winds, Cornelius is
an accomplished writer/poet, with many published writings including a tetralogy of poems
entitled Quadra Natura.

the UK. The album made the US Top 200 and the single 'White Houses' peaked at No.67
Most of the material is written by Burdon with contributions from Zoot Money and John Weider
of the band. Other band members included ex-Nashville Teens drummer Barry Jenkins, Vic Briggs
and Danny McCulloch. Though not a commercial success, it was indeed a critical one, being
acclaimed a great psychedelic blues album. Digitally remastered and slipcased with new notes.

‘The Band Drinks For Free' is the A-Side of this 45 as well as the title of The Fleshtones
forthcoming full length album, due out later this year. The band will be celebrating their 40th
anniversary of rocking harder than anyone in the world in 2016!
The first thing that popped into front-man Peter Zaremba's head when thinking back on these
past 40 years was, 'The Band Drinks For Free.' Simple. The song itself taps into one of their big
inspirations, The Kinks, or more like The Troggs sounding like The Kinks.
'Love My Lover' is straight up Fleshtones Keith Streng--style at its rocking best. No frills. Although
Streng did want some subtle touches like a duel guitar and harmonica lead, and some interesting
twists to the lyrics, there aren't many songwriters who long for a 'transporter' to get immediate
access to their lover's room, or refer to their own 'blue eyes' in a song, is there? Bill Milhizer and
Ken Fox add their solid, irresistible beat.

He's sat behind the drum kit for everyone from Eddie Vedder, Joey Santiago, Ziggy Marley and
Jack Johnson to legends like Jimmy Cliff and David Gilmour. He has explored Afro-Cuban

Chet Vincent has been kicking around Pittsburgh bars and clubs, playing in bands since he was a
teenager. A regular fixture both at small open mics and at rock venues with The Big Bend,
Vincent has quietly established a reputation as one of the city's most dedicated figures.
The payoff. Celebrate, The Big Bend's fourth release, has the hallmarks of a career milestone,
calling to mind early-'70s Neil Young in its songwriting, with sonic elements straight out of Abbey
Road-era Beatles. The Big Bend has been a work in progress, the band's first albums had a
definite country accent.
Then, in 2015, the five-piece produced Unconventional Dog, a certified rocker. That full-length
got the band attention from local radio, from Triple-A station WYEP to commercial rock entities
WDVE and WXDX.
The album shows the band's range -- from the first discordant, psychedelic notes of album opener
"The Spins" through the closing bars of the stripped-down, folky "Su La Ley." In between, the
band hits overdriven blues rockers and twangy honky-tonk tunes. Vincent's vocals show range
stylistically, from shouts on the more raucous tunes, to lilting crooning reminiscent of The

The follow up to highly acclaimed "Space Echo" compilation is another offering from the magical
Cape Verde islands . In 1997, a quiet, unassuming man of 59 years old named Victor Tavares better know as Bitori - walks into a studio for the very first time to record a masterpiece which
many Cabo Verdean consider to be the best Funaná album ever made.
Bitori´s musical adventure had begun long before this point. It was 1954 when he embarked on a
journey across the seas to the island of Sao Tomé & Principe. The young man´s hope was to return to
Cabo Verde with an accordion. Following two years of hard labour Bitori had succeeded in saving
enough money to acquire what was to become his most valued possession, his cherished
instrument. Self taught, Bitori developed his own style, an infectious blaze, that quickly caught the
attention of the older generation.
But not everybody welcomed the rural accordion-based sound. Perceived as a symbol of the struggle
for Cape Verdean independence and frowned upon as music of uneducated peasants, Funaná was
prohibited by the Portuguese colonial rulers. Performing it in public or in urban centres had serious
consequences - often jail time and torture awaited musicians that were “caught in the act”. In light
of such persecution the genre of Funaná began to slowly disappear.
In 1975 Cabo Verde achieved independence from Portuguese colonial rule. Along with Cabo Verde’s
independence came a lifting of the ban placed on Funaná. The musical repercussions in Cabo Verde
were plenty - many upcoming artists embraced Funaná, translating and adapting its musical form in
new ways. It was not to be until the mid-1990’s, however, that Funaná in its traditional form was
actually recorded. It was a young singer from Tarafal, Chando Graciosa, who was to play a key role in
this event. Upon hearing Bitori, Graciosa immediately felt drawn to Bitori's unique playing style - a
raw and passionate sound accompanied by honest lyrics that reflected the harsh reality of the Cabo
Verdean working class.
Eventually Bitori returned to his beloved Cabo Verde. Graciosa opted to settle in Rotterdam in order
to pursue his career . He vowed, however, to bring Bitori across to Holland at a later date to record
an album. In 1997 the time was ripe to immortalise the sound Bitori had shaped over a time span of
four decades. Built around a formidable rhythm section, formed of drummer Grace Evora and bass
player Danilo Tavares, "Bitori Nha Bibinha" was recorded. The recording catapulted Chando Graciosa
to stardom, making him Cabo Verde´s No.1 interpreter of Funaná.

Buena Vista Social Club' is now available in a deluxe case-bound CD featuring a 48 page
booklet. 'Buena Vista Social Club' was released in June 1997 and has since come to be
regarded as a classic, selling 7 million copies worldwide.
As Cuban revolutions go, it was an entirely peaceable uprising - but its impact could not have
been more profound. On the release of the Buena Vista Social Club album in 1997, few outside
the specialist world music audience initially took much notice of the record's elegantly sculpted
tunes and warm, acoustic rhythms. Then something extraordinary occurred. The album was
spectacularly reviewed by a few discerning critics, but although their words of praise did Buena
Vista's cause no harm, they cannot explain what subsequently happened.
That its impact had made waves far beyond the specialist world music audience was soon selfevident. Buena Vista went on to win a Grammy and its crossover success persuaded the
acclaimed director Wim Wenders to make an award-winning feature film about the
phenomenon.
The veteran pianist Ruben Gonzalez, who didn't own a piano at the time had been persuaded
out of retirement by Juan de Marcos. Not that it took much coaxing, despite his years of
inactivity, his playing was on fire and so eager was he to get to the piano that every morning
when the janitor turned up to unlock the studio doors, he was already waiting outside. The
singer Ibrahim Ferrer, who was scraping a living shining shoes and selling lottery tickets, was
also rescued from obscurity - and proceeded to sing his heart out. Eliades Ochoa the great
guitarist and singer provided the rural roots from Santiago. Omara Portuondo was recruited as
the company's leading lady and the rich, resonant voice of the 89 year-old Compay Segundo
provided a link with Cuba's deepest musical past. "He knew the best songs and how to do them
because he'd been doing it since World War One," as Ry Cooder noted.

baton, with the producer who recorded everyone from Eric Clapton to Peter Green in the ‘60s
now working with the cream of the new blues generation. “It was a great feeling” says
Laurence, “to know Mike wanted to make this record.”
The pair had discussed a collaboration as far back as 2013, but their conflicting schedules had
always scuppered the plan. Mike remains much in demand as a producer, and likewise, since
last year’s acclaimed ‘What’s It Gonna Be’, #18 in The Blues Mag’s 50 Essential Albums Of 2015,

By January 2016, they were ready to hit Headline Music Studios in Cambridge, with Laurence
leading the core band of Roger Inniss (bass), Bob Fridzema (keys/organ) and new drummer Phil
Wilson as they tracked live. “We did it the old-school way”,nods the bandleader. “I really feed
off an audience, so I remember that Mike said, Just make it as live as you can. Imagine you’re
stood in front of a thousand people and give it some”
At the end of each night, Laurence and Mike returned to a remote cottage outside Cambridge,
where the producer regaled the guitarist with tales of his illustrious clients. “There was no
Internet”, smiles Laurence, “so we actually had to talk to each other. You know, he’d tell me
stories about when he worked with David Bowie, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green”.
The more reflective ‘I Will’ meanwhile, announces Laurence’s growing maturity as a vocalist.
“Mike was really thorough about the vocals, because that’s his territory. He’s an amazing
singer. He even did backing vocals on this album & we sang them live together.” Elsewhere, the
snakecharmer riffs of “Got No Place To Go”reaffirm Laurence’s reputation as a master guitarist,
while “Live It Up”features guest backing vocals from Rueben Richards, and “The Price I
Pay”sees his stinging fretwork lock in with a stunning harmonica cameo from Paul Jones
“Within a head-spinning ten days, the basic tracking was complete, but Laurence wasn’t
prepared for just how good the songs would sound after Mike had finished mixing them at his
home in Spain. “He sent me the stuff over, and it was like, ‘Wow’. He’d just fattened everything
up. It was just a completely different sound because of him. I’m so happy with this album.”

During the early 1970s Roy Buchanan was feted as the greatest rock guitarist the world had
ever known. This superb new CD from Jasmine takes a step back into his early career where
he spent many years scuffling as a guitar slinger in numerous bands and doing a substantial
amount of session work.
Collected across this 44 track 2 CD set are examples of his dynamic guitar contributions to a bevy of
national, regional and downright parochial recording artists including Dale Hawkins, Bob Luman,
Freddy Cannon, and Danny and The Juniors. As well as all that there a couple of singles released under
his own name plus a couple or more tracks where the jury is still out as to the identity of the guitar
player.
Outstanding guitar work is what this CD is all about and although these early recordings don't quite give
the full picture of his exemplary talent for improvisation and creativity that would come in the 70s, they
certainly show the signs of it developing, and tracks such as "The Jam (Part 1 and 2)" demonstrate his
dynamic and original guitar sound.

Lloyd Glenn is one of the most important and indeed influential piano players on the
West Coast blues scene. He was active from 1947 until well into the 1970s and he was a
particular favourite of B.B. King.

B.J. Barham's (from Americana legends American Aquarium) debut solo record is
released via Brighton's At The Helm Records.
On November 13, 2015, the singer-songwriter was in the middle of his fourth European
tourwith American Aquarium, the rising alt-country act he'd led for nearly a decade. They
were in Belgium, less than two hours from Paris, when bad news began to arrive: a series
of terrorist attacks, including one in a rock club, had left more than 100 dead. Family
members, friends, and the fans American Aquarium had amassed from so many years on
the road immediately reached out, making sure the band had been far away.

"The onslaught of text messages, voicemails and everything that came in the next day
sparked something in me," Barham remembers. "In the next two days, the entire record
was written."
The record he's talking about is Rockingham, Barham's remarkable and intensely personal
solo debut. He sang into his cell phone and scribbled in notebooks, stealing away for quiet
moments in order to put the melodies and characters floating through his mind into song.
Barham made these songs his new priority. Not long after he returned stateside, he asked
Bradley Cook, the musician and mentor who had co-produced Wolves, to hear them. By
afternoon's end, they had hatched the plan to make Rockingham. Two months later, on
January 31, Barham returned from another American Aquarium tour.
On Monday, he and the band he'd built to record Rockingham-himself, Cook, Cook's
brother and multi-instrumentalist Phil Cook, drummer Kyle Keegan, American Aquarium
standbys Ryan Johnson and Whit Wright met for the first time. On Tuesday and
Wednesday, they rehearsed. And on Thursday and Friday, they cut all eight songs at
Durham's Overdub Lane. They mixed the results over the weekend, between the sold-out
hometown shows and various festivities of American Aquarium's annual pilgrimage,
Roadtrip to Raleigh.
The whirlwind kept the songs simple and the recordings human, reflecting a reality much
bigger and less perfect than the vacuum of a recording studio. These tunes, after all, didn't
need much tampering. Rockingham puts its scenes and scenarios front and centre, the
beautiful grain and twang of Barham's voice bringing it all to life. He sings of lifelong
romance and instantaneous tragedy during the paradoxically heartbreaking, heartmending "Unfortunate Kind" and details the disappointments and dreams of the bluecollar labourer with "American Tobacco Company." With its acoustic guitars and pealing
organs, ragged vocals and rugged characters, Rockingham is a stunning, personal portrait
of small-town America, easily identifiable and familiar.
"This is just an outlet for a songwriter. It's me being able to do something different. This is
like people who love their jobs, picking up hobbies," says Barham, "This is an exercise for
myself."

album, Rockingham.

Re-Release of the originally 1974 released Klaus Schulze-classic album "Timewind".
Digipack re-release with extended liner notes in a 16-page booklet and with generous
bonus.
Evolving slowly but deliberately over the course of each album side, "Timewind" has been
deemed an electronic version of an Indian raga. It resembles in many ways a longer
variation of the third track from Tangerine Dream's classic 1974 album Phaedra,
"Movements of a Visionary", but it remains a transitional work somewhere between the
Krautrock of Schulze's earlier output and the Berlin School character of his following
efforts. The intention of "Timewind" was to invoke a timeless state in the listener.
Both track titles are references to the nineteenth-century composer Richard Wagner,
Bayreuth is the Bavarian town where Wagner had an opera house built for the first
performance of his massive Ring Cycle. Wahnfried is the name of Wagner's home in
Bayreuth in the grounds of which he was buried in 1883. It is also a pen-name used by
Schulze himself.

Clara Moreno's spectacular tribute to her heritage, both musically and personally.
This fresh take on the album that opened up new avenues for samba and bossa is Clara's third

Miss Balanco. Jorge Ben's Samba Esquema Novo introduced an innovative approach to Samba

Having lived and breathed the music of her native Rio De Janeiro since birth, the souls of the

Clara's parents Joyce Moreno and Nelson Angelo are two of those titans, whose own careers have
had a colossal influence on the shape and sound of Brazilian music since the 1960s.

children's choirs for the likes of Milton Nascimento, Egberto Gismonti, Originais do Samba and

When Freddy Cole is asked why he is finally releasing a tribute to his legendary older brother,
who left this world 50 years ago, his answer is hardly surprising. "Because I felt the time was
right." Anytime is the right time for a new Freddy Cole CD but this one is particularly welcome.
The first thing you notice is the way that Freddy and friends, especially tenor titan Houston
Person, address the entire breadth and scope of the Cole Songbook. Freddy sings everything from
jazz standards to luminescent ballads. He reinterprets songs from his brother's early jazz period as
well his more mature years as a chart-topping pop headliner. His selections range from the most
famous Nat King Cole songs, like "Sweet Lorraine," to the relatively obscure, such as the hardswinging and rhythmically righteous "That's My Girl." So here is what is sure to be the definitive
Nat King Cole tribute album. It was certainly worth the wait.

On ‘All About Melody’ guitarist Russell Malone homed in on strong melodies. "I prefer to play
songs that stick in my head, and in the listener's head" paired with harmonic schemes that
might prompt imaginative improvisations.
And indeed, each of the pieces Malone included on this session meets the bill. And they have one
additional virtue: they are played by Russell's working band of Rick Germanson, Luke Sellick and
Willie Jones III. Together they are able to selflessly convey the essence of these melodies and
prove, to paraphrase Beethoven, "what comes from the heart, goes to the heart."
Ever since he hit the national scene, in the late 1980s, Russell Malone has made two things very
clear. First, he plays with exquisite taste, at any tempo and in any setting. And second, his
tastefulness hasn't crowded out his overwhelming technique: from the start, his ability to

Longer ago than he may care to admit, as a teenager, Benny Golson was jamming in his front
room with his friend and fellow saxophonist John Coltrane. That in itself is quite a thought to
consider when listening to Golson's first recording for HighNote Records.
Even more thought provoking, though, is the fact that without Benny Golson's gifts as a
composer, hard-bop's catalogue of charming straight-ahead standards would be missing many of
its iconic tunes. Then, as if these accomplishments were not enough, it should be mentioned that
Golson's beautifully paced, golden toned playing, has appeared on more than five hundred
recordings.
Surrounded here by his current colleagues of choice, Golson, plays standards and originals with a
hipness characterised by his attractive, sinewy melodic statements. He shines on both ballads,
where his big, warm tone and heavy vibrato stand him in good stead, and the up-tempo numbers
such as "Jump Start," where his improvisations are full of power and substance.

This post-bop supergroup, which has honed its rapport on tour in Europe, consists of the
trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, the vibraphonist Steve Nelson, the pianist Danny Grissett, the bassist

What puts the POW in The Power Quintet is the fact that here we have like-minded, virtuoso
musicians who have decided to collaborate and perform new and stimulating music. ‘High Art’ is a
perfect example of what happens when artists with shared histories, a dedication towards
performing creative music, and the willingness to be team players join forces.
The band cooks up a swinging brew of mostly original tunes with a decidedly post-hard-bop
influence. Throughout the session the band delivered high energy, immaculate, yet often daring

Ever since Joe Chambers made his recording debut on Freddie Hubbard's classic LP, 'Breaking
Point!' he's remained a nearly peerless jazz figure in terms of consummate musicianship. On
'Landscapes' Chambers reflects all of his well-honed talents as superb multi-instrumentalist,
composer and bandleader in a pared down trio setting with bassist Ira Coleman and pianist Rick
Germanson.
His career throughout the 1960s established Chambers as both a noteworthy hard-bop and
avant-garde jazz drummer and as an intriguing composer, particularly through his partnership
with vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson. Chambers released his debut LP, 'The Almoravid' in 1974
for Muse Records. After recording several other releases for the Denon, Candid and Blue Note
labels, Chambers reconnected with Muse's Joe Fields in 2005 and released 'The Outlaw' in 2006.

The piano trio Moskus was nominated for two Spellemannspriser (Norwegian Grammies) for
the debut album, 'Salmesykkel', and garnered rave reviews for their follow-up record,
'Mestertyven'. On their eagerly awaited third album Moskus have expanded both their
soundscape and their collection of instruments.
The trio's recording sessions have all taken place in different cities and venues - and for pianist
Anja Lauvdal on widely different instruments. 'Salmesykkel' was recorded at the legendary
Atlantis Studio in Stockholm on a Steinway grand piano, while for the follow-up album,
'Mestertyven', an ordinary upright piano was played in Risør Church. After a successful concert at
Haugesund Billedgalleri the trio decided to record their third album there. The gallery, which was
designed by the architect David Sandved, boasts several rooms with outstanding and inspiring
acoustics in addition to an older Steinway.
This is a recording full of stark contrasts, from unassuming acoustic chamber music to small,
surprising and simple electronic pieces. They have also invited the musical trailblazer Nils Økland
to join them, and he plays Hardanger fiddle on two exceptionally inspired tracks.

Skadedyr is something out of the ordinary. The group consists of 12 musicians in all, and an
even larger number of instruments. With a brass section, guitars, keyboards, vocals, two
drummers, strings and accordion, they are positively bursting with musical images and
narratives.
Their music is both accessible and uncompromising, and stylistically they could be described as an
octopus, whose tentacles reach out to a multitude of musical genres. In the course of a short time
Skadedyr has achieved a reputation as a dynamic live band, and 'Culturen' approaches their live
spirit more closely than their more psychedelic debut album, 'Kongekrabbe'. This time we
encounter a more acoustic-sounding band, and it is easier to hear that this is a more of a
coordinated team than before.
Skadedyr was initiated by Heida Karine Jóhannesdóttir Mobeck and Anja Lauvdal. They were also
responsible for the imaginative material on the debut album, but on this second record several of
the other band members have also contributed material. The album is mostly instrumental, but
as on the debut album one poem by Ivar Aasen is included: the title cut, 'Culturen'.
'Culturen' was recorded and mixed by Morgan Nicolaysen at Propeller Studio in Oslo.

Drummer Øyvind Skarbø's trio Bly de Blyant, with Icelandic guitarist Hilmar Jensson and
Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily (Marc Ribot, Will Oldham, John Zorn),
have received glowing reviews for their two previous albums, 'ABC' and 'Hindsight Bias'. On
their third album they have brought in percussionist Ches Smith (Marc Ribot, Mr. Bungle, Xiu
Xiu) as a guest, and together they take the music in a whole new direction.
'The Third Bly de Blyant Album' is their most cohesive release to date and was recorded directly
on tape in a side room in Jakob Church in Bergen, and very little recording of additional tracks or
editing was carried out afterwards. The soundscape is more naked and acoustic this time. The
expression is also more disciplined, but the band is still brimming with creative power.
While the band formerly went into the studio with only sketches and simple ideas for songs, and
let the music take shape in the studio, this time more of the material consisted of finished
compositions. "Besides the two tracks we created together ('Min mor er kvikk' and 'Handi'),
Hilmar had written a song ('Tundra'), and I wrote the rest," says Øyvind Skarbø. 'The Third Bly de
Blyant Album' shows a new and exciting side of this creative and irresistible band.

On his third solo album for Hubro, string magician Stein Urheim, really gets serious about
honing his complex expressive skills. His previous album garnered excellent reviews
internationally, and has become a force to reckon with among listeners.
Urheim plays an impressive number of string instruments on the album, but we can also hear
several tracks featuring vocals, harmonica, pocket cornet and tape experiments, while producer
Jørgen Træen makes a contribution on modular synth.
The tonal point of departure for the compositions on this record is reminiscent of French music of
the early 1900s and American ragtime and standards of the 1920s and 30s. The soundscape
combines acoustic and electronic elements to generate a compelling result. Urheim is thoughtful
and meditative without being withdrawn or sombre.
'Strandebarm' was recorded in Strandebarm Church. This space was chosen primarily because of
its inspiring acoustics, and the music was recorded, as on the previous album, by sound technician
Audun Strype. The recording was finalised and mixed at Duper Studio in Bergen by technician and
producer Jørgen Træen, who also collaborated very successfully with Urheim on the previous
album.
'Strandebarm' is Urheim"s third release as a solo artist, and also his third release on the Hubro
label. He has also released three critically acclaimed duo albums on Bugge Wesseltoft's Jazzland
label, together with vocalist and instrumentalist Mari Kvien Brunvoll. Urheim has also been a
member of Gabriel Fliflet's band Aresong and HP Gundersen's critically lauded drone band The
Last Hurrah.

Stuart Coleman.

Dallas-born Tamara's background was fortuitous - her grandfather was a noted pianist and
choral director, her mother played piano and her father has spent a lifetime in the business.
After exposure to music in church and school, she took up the career that was inevitable. Aged
seventeen, she was singing professionally to great approval.
International touring - primarily as a Blues artist - followed. As so often in matters of style and
talent, fans in France caught on to her gifts earlier than what is now a substantial American
following. But there's always been a lot more to Tamara than Blues, important though they are.
She's brought her special talents to the Soul, R&B and funk genres - and before you think you
have her taped - each of her three JSP albums shows a willingness to challenge any musical

Hale And Haines’ 1982 album ‘Survival’ finally available again! Digitally remastered, with
exclusive bonus tracks and new liner notes and 4-page digipack with new booklet.
David Bowie had just finished his Berlin trilogy with the album "Lodger" when the New Wave
protagonists Gus Hale and Denis Haines decided to record their new project, Hale & Haines in
Berlin. Denis Haines who had previously proved his talent as keyboarder and songwriter with the
Hollies, Gary Numan and the Edgar Broughton Band.
For nearly two months the two Englishmen locked themselves in there to create their album
"Survival". From the British island came several good friends to accompany this project. Johnny
Warman, at that time in the charts with the album "Walking Into Mirrors" and the single
"Screaming Jets"' (with Peter Gabriel), as well as Russell Bell from the Gary Numan Band played
the guitar and John "Rhino" Edwards (former Judy Tzuke Band, Dexys Midnight Runners and
since 1986 Status Quo) provided the bass sounds.
The album "Survival", first released in 1982 with Polydor has two parts: The first four tracks (side
A of the 1982 album) consist of richly produced synth pop with a strong flavour of New Romantic
which develop their very own charm and reflect the zeitgeist of the early 80's. Side B of the vinyl
was called "their Berlin side".

The first ever recording of Douglas Finch’s piano and chamber music, ‘Inner
Landscapes: Piano and Chamber Music 1984-2013’ offers an exquisite and compelling
portrait of this important Canadian-British composer.
Inner Landscapes draws upon the art of the Canadian painter, Emily Carr, whose work
features on the CD’s cover. In particular, the feelings of “loneliness and quiet rapture”
in her paintings drew Finch in, and fit with his self-confessed predilection for the
themes of solitude, mourning and spiritual longing. The ten works on this disc each
capture an ‘inner world’ of a particular landscape - in Canada, Germany, North Wales
and New York.
Performed by the Canadian flautist Lisa Nelsen (“a flautist and a half” – The Times
newspaper), the pianist Aleksander Szram, cellist Caroline Szram, and the violinists
Mieko Kanno and Toby Tramaseur,the music spans Finch's compositional output from
his early 20s, when he lived in Canada, to the present, after he moved to the UK in
1993."This music is inward-looking and deeply personal, though the world it looks into
is cavernous, elusiveand unending, a sound-world quite unlike any that I have so far
