Dear Friends and Partners in the Gospel
What a day to be alive! We have new
Governments, Laws, Challenges, Opportunities
and Open Doors!
The Joshua Project has taken us places that we
never thought we would go. In the last newsletter,
we told you how God had challenged us to
extend, sharpen, deepen; to run faster and go
further, and that is what we have been doing so
far this year.
God has been speaking to us about the desert places. In the Bible, the desert is not a place of
sand, rather a place which has been deserted, a place with no water, pasture, no Word. It has
the same root word for where God speaks. So, could it be that God calls us into the desert?
In John 3:14, we are told that ‘Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son
of Man be lifted up ... in the desert..
Jesus called his disciples to come away with him in Mark 6 to the desert. Many people followed
him and he spoke to 5000 men plus others and then the disciples told him to send them away
because they were in the desert. Jesus told them to feed them... in the desert.
In 2 Samuel 9 we read of a man called Mephiboseth who lived in Lo Debar, or a place of ‘no
pasture’ or ‘no word’ or the ‘desert’. When David remembered his covenant with Jonathan, he
was moved to go find Mephiboseth.. in the desert.. And take him to his table in Jerusalem.
In Acts 8:26, we read a story of Philip being called by God to go and meet the Ethiopian .. in the
desert.
So the question I ask is this: could God be calling us into the desert? After all it is not the
healthy that need a doctor. He gives us the Word and calls us to go to a people who will never
have the opportunity to hear the Word...... in the desert. We have tremendous promises about
the desert in the Bible. Isaiah 43:19 promises that God will make a road in the wilderness and
rivers in the desert. Perhaps the most encouraging is the whole of Isaiah 35. Look especially at
verse 6 ‘Waters shall burst forth in the Wilderness and streams in the desert.
May God bless you each one as you go to the desert and help us minister .. in the desert.

Ethiopia
After our usual visit to San Antonio in January, I
headed off to Addis Ababa for my Annual
Conference with 100 leaders, all of whom are
pastors and evangelists and leaders in local
churches, prisons and other ministries.
Again it was an amazing time. In fact, I had
gone thinking that I needed to wind it down as I
have been going there for about 13 years and
have seen God do significant things in all of
their lives. Each year I pay for their meals in a
good hotel and I felt that I could concentrate
somewhere else.
However, God moved again and everyone I
asked gave stories of how God used this
conference. In fact, many said it had saved their
ministries. So, far from letting it be the last, I
have already committed us to next year!

I was booked to go to both Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan in
March. Everything was arranged; my flight, internal flight,
hotel and the meetings. However my passport came back
from the Pakistan Embassy in London empty—no visa.
This has been extremely frustrating for me and my folk in
Pakistan. I could get no information from the Embassy. They
put the phone down on me 5 times when I eventually got
through to them. All they would say was that my application
was being processed in Karachi for my trip in March. I had
applied in February, so that was 5 months ago.

I lost my flight but everything is still pending in Pakistan and I
have kept 2 weeks clear in September to go. But because
they will not talk to me I don't know where I am with them.
Please pray for me because if I cannot resolve this I may
never be able to visit Pakistan again.
After many years IGO returned to The Philippines in April. We
had organises 2 conferences; one in Koronadal in Mindinau
and the other in San Fernando, La Union where both the
Newloves and the Gomez families are ministering.
The first conference was organised by Pastor Lolita Medina in
Koronadal and it was excellent. What incredible sacrifice from
beautiful people. They are totally committed to getting the
Gospel to as many as possible, especially to the mountain
people. Pastor Lolita has been in the UK and has been a
member of IGO for many years.
The Philippines

The second conference in San Fernando was also terrific. It
was mainly young people and the theme was ‘The Charge’.
Andrew & Ruth Newlove organised this and it was great to
catch up with friends. One guy came to see me and he turned
out to be my interpreter over 20 years ago!
The young people were fired up with excellent worship and
teaching. We felt that God was establishing something new in
the Philippines, raising up a new generation of leaders and a
transition time from the older to the newer—very exciting
times!
After the Conference we preached in various churches and
then had an outreach day with Andrew in the open air and
many people found Jesus that day.
Isaac came with me and he was a blessing to the folk there.
Israel & Jordan
A wonderful friend in our home church
invited me to join him on a trip to Israel &
Jordan. We went in May and I cannot
describe how blessed I was. It was one
‘WOW’ moment after another.
To walk where Jesus walked; to see
where God’s people live, to float on the
Dead Sea, visit Petra, Masada, Qumran
...WOW!
Probably the highlight for me was to
stand on mount Nebo where God took
Moses and told him that he would not
enter the Promised Land but Joshua
would. I stood there and looked at the
whole land that was given to Joshua. I
was so blessed.

Macedonia
Romania
I went to Romania with Pastor
Kelton Black and an IGO team for
our first IGO Conference in
Romania.
There was an old prophecy of fire
falling from Heaven and hitting
Brasov in Central Romania which
is in Central Europe. This fire
then spread to all of Europe.
Kelton called the conference
‘Stirring the Fire’ not knowing this
and we saw about 100 leaders
from about 10 nations drawing
close to God and there was an
incredible excitement in the air
that the Lord was about to do
something.
The meetings were fantastic and
everyone was so blessed. We are
already planning to return next
year and make it bigger, so watch
this space—perhaps you will join
us!
Pastors Iosif & Emma Belea, who
have a church in Brasov, led the
conference with Pastor Kelton.
This was my second trip to the beautiful nation of
Macedonia. I have been working with the Tomasiks,
whose desire is to see greater unity in the Macedonian
church. So we organised a conference in the mountains at
Bitola and had about 30 pastors and leaders there from
Serbia and Albania also. It was a great time of coming
together and all want to do it again next year so we will
probably double the size next year—very exciting.

Guatemala & Honduras
In June I did a double trip to Guatemala and Honduras. I thought I
would save money by taking a bus between the 2 countries. It was the
scariest, shakiest journey of my life. I have described it as being belted
into a rollercoaster for 10 hours. I couldn’t open my eyes after
returning for about a day—I felt so sick.
However, it was worth it all.
We had an Ordination for Luke Humphries in Guatemala, a wonderful
Sunday with Abner & Loly Gomez in Parramos, a special time with
Missionaries Jeff & Christa Mills in Ciudad Vieja and another
Conference with my friends Dean & Melissa Lowman in La Esperanza
in Honduras, which brought the leaders of the churches together and
was amazing.
The last night was another outreach in Santiago with the Humphries
and hundreds came with approx 200 responding to the Gospel appeal.
It was wonderful.

proving very popular and will change lives.
