4 September – 1 November / Jízdárna Pražského hradu (Prague Castle
Riding Hall) / An exhibition where you can savour the beauty of Czech
landscapes as rendered by the best Czech painters.
Birell Grand Prix Praha 2015
5 September / start and finish on Wenceslas Square / Savour the
distinctive mood of Prague by night and join in the 5 or 10 km running races.

5 – 6 September / Troja castle gardens / A gastronomic festival of fine

5 September – 3 January 2016 / Museum Kampa / A retrospective

AghaRTA Prague Jazz Festival
from 23 September / AghaRTA Jazz Centrum, Lucerna Music Bar /
This jazz festival programme offers a whole host of excellent artists and
some real delights of the world jazz scene, as every year.
TIZIANO – VANITAS. The Poet of the Image and
the Shade of Beauty
23 September – 17 January 2016 / Prague Castle Imperial Stables /
An exhibition of the life work of the Italian Renaissance painter Tiziano
Vecelli (‘Titian’). Showing for the first time in Prague will be the original
“Young woman with mirror”, better known as the allegorical “Vanity”.
Vegefest
26 – 27 September / Vyšehrad / Now in its 5th year, this vegetarian
festival seeks to highlight the variety and diversity of contemporary
vegetarian gastronomy.
8 – 30 September / Old Town Hall / One of the most respected
personalities of contemporary photography, whose most famous
photograph is undoubtedly the "Afghan Girl" - a portrait that after
publishing on the cover of the National Geographic magazine became the
most recognized photograph of its time.

World Press Photo 2015
till 30 September / various venues / The festival seeks to enliven public
spaces with a gamut of statues of diverse forms, styles and materials.
11 September – 4 October / Křížová chodba Karolina (Carolinum
vaulted gallery) / This prestigious media exhibition picks out the very
best photographic images capturing the year’s events of worldwide

22 – 27 October / Průmyslový palác (Industrial Palace), Lapidárium /
An international display of novelties from the world of design,
encompassing furniture, lighting, fashion and lifestyle.
23 October – 10 January 2016 / Salmovský palác / This exhibition will
present the Czech Science Academy as a collector of artistic bequests
and sponsor of Art. You will be able to see works by V. Brožík, F. Ženíšek,
J. V. Myslbek, J. Mařatka, F. Bílek, F. Kupka, V. Hynais, M. Aleš, J. Gočár
and a number of other exceptional Czech artists.

2 – 4 October / Bertramka park / For the sixth season running,
Bertramka park will come alive on the 3rd October with the Swiss

comes to Prague, to delight with performances that have won them

Architecture Week 2015

exhibition to complement the ‘Cradles of European Culture’ project,
drawing the visitor in to explore our common European heritage and
what inspiration this era can still bring us.
14 October / Forum Karlín / The most well known Mafia story makes
its comeback after more than forty years, in a show electrifying with
audio-visual effects, The Godfather Live.
11 November / Prague Botanical Garden / The St Klára wine-bar will
host a celebration of the newly harvested vintage. Come and sample
some yourself!
9 – 15 November / The House at ‘U Minuty’ / The inaugural year
of an exhibition of quality Czech design presenting the very
talented – students, professionals, both individually and within their

Petřín Park (Petřínské sady)
Prague 1 – Malá Strana / Petřín Hill is one of the largest urban expanses
of greenery, and its slopes are an oasis of calm in the centre of Prague.
Riegrovy Park (Riegrovy sady)
Prague 2 – Vinohrady / This park, more than a hundred years old, has
many half-hidden secluded nooks and crannies, as well as wooded
glades, open meadows and uncommon vistas of Prague.
Havlíčkovy sady (Grébovka) Park
Prague 2 – Vinohrady / A park inspired by the Italian Renaissance, with
a fountain and water cascades, a pond, pavilions, sculptures and
a charming grotto, ofering unique vistas of Prague and places to sit
in a charming wine cellar or garden café.
Vítkov Hill
Prague 3 – Žižkov / Vítkov Hill, interlaced with promenade trails, ofers
a remarkable view of almost the entire city. The whole park, still imbued
with a 1930s atmosphere is dominated by a monumental bronze statue
of the Hussite leader, Jan Žižka.
Hvězda Game Park (Obora Hvězda)

Prague 7 – Holešovice / This green oasis near the city centre
is a popular place for sport and relaxation at any age.
Old Town Hall
The symbol of city authority is probably the
most beautiful sight in Prague's historic centre.
Its origins date back to the 14th century, when
townhouses were gradually merged into one
building, and it has often figured prominently in
the history of Prague and the Czech state.

Medieval underground
Medieval Prague reveals itself to you through the doors in the basement
of the Old Town Hall.
Astronomical Clock
Prague's Astronomical Clock, which displays the motion of the planets
and the twelve apostles, is an integral part of the Old Town Hall. The
Astronomical Clock was created in 1410. In addition to the 12 Apostles,
it is decorated with moving figurines including the Skeleton, Vanity,
the Miser and the Turk.
Nature park Drahaň – Troja
Prague 7 – Troja, Prague 8 – Bohnice / The nature park is situated on the
right bank of the Vltava River and includes part of the Troja basin with its
steep cliffs and bordering valleys.

Historical and representative halls
No visitor should leave Prague without seeing the Town Hall interior.
The rooms on the various floors hark back to various historical periods
and underline the notable progression the Town Hall building complex
has made down the ages. Nowadays these serve primarily
as representative venues for the Capital City of Prague.
