EDUCATION
Was born in the UK and began playing the violin at 7 years
old, giving her first public concert in the local church shortly
after. Because of her mixed heritage, Eastern Woodlands
Aboriginal ancestors, Black American, British, Irish and
Romany, she enjoys exploring and connecting to each of
these through the music.
Discovering folk music at 11 years, she had 2 teachers covering folk, classical and technique. She holds a B.A.hons
Degree in Performing Arts/Jazz & popular Music. Saskia
has 15 years experience as a music teacher and freelance
session musician and performer. Saskia was formally a lecturer at Northampton College , a leading performance art
College in England.
An all Britain champion fiddler she has given workshops all
over the world including Jordan, Cuba, France, Turkey,
Austria and the U.K.
Within the last couple of years Saskia has played with the
Chieftains at Massey Hall in Toronto, and with people such
as Uriah Heep, Crispin Mills (Kula Shaker), the English
Shakespeare Company, Sonja
Kristina (Curved Air), Sin
E, Toronto Tabla Ensemble,
Laurie Anderson and created workshops for festivals and Comhaltas groups
in the U.K and Canada.
Her workshops include
improving technique and
performance skills , putting a
performance together and trying out new styles from Irish
Country and Jazz.
Working in in schools we devise an exciting and challenging
range of workshops and teaching experiences which will excite
and motivate people, while helping to fulfill many areas of the

Storytelling - Learners experience the wonders of storytelling and learn how to do it themselves from developing the
first ideas right through to the public telling.
Instrument building - Using everyday objects and scrap
recycled material, learners are guided to make and play a
variety of unusual playable instruments and not plastic cup
shakers!

Musician, Storyteller, Author and charismatic Educator, who
has just spent the last few years teaching in England . His
music career has led him to work with many top class musicians including The Chieftains, Il Divo, Julian Lloyd Webber,
Bjork, Depeche Mode, Gary Barlow, Uriah Heep, Loreena
McKennett, Jeff Martin, The Afro-celts, and Michael Flatley.
He has t.v credits on shows like “Friends”, ”M.T.V.
unplugged”, “Earth Final Conflict , “Relic Hunter”, “Black
Harbour”, “How Music works” etc. His teaching books and
D.V.D.s covering Irish Traditional Instruments are worldwide
bestsellers. He has used these books as source material for
his very popular workshops.
He is a qualified teacher and works with groups and individuals of all abilities and talents from entry level through to
Postgraduate work. having tought at a number of schools, universities and colleges.
In the U.K Steáfán specialized in working with learners with
a range of special needs and also disaffected Learners with
challenging behavior .He rewrote the delivery system within
one college to enable the group to exceed the national targets
in achievement and retention by over 100% within a year.
Steafan likes to focus on learner led work and his experience
in teaching, music and storytelling will help you to find new and
challenging ways to work with learners.
