Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in Adults: A Cognitive-Behavioral Approach
Peter Moran, Ph.D., M.S.
Obsessive-compulsive Disorder (OCD) can be successfully treated with
the disorder-specific cognitive treatment strategies alone and combined
with psychopharmacological intervention. Cognitive Behavioral Treatment
strategies will be presented focusing on specific interventions for obsessions
and compulsions. Medications and symptom indications and treatments will
be reviewed through case studies.

Creating Supports for Children and Families Coping with Domestic Violence

first from the point of view of the adults and then through the eyes of the

adolescents, and acquire practical treatment strategies that can be applied

addressed: separation anxiety disorder, panic disorder, overanxious disorder,
obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, phobias, and posttraumatic stress disorder.

as well as ten self-care guidelines for the voluntary worker engaged in a
dance with the involuntary client. In the afternoon, participants will explore
the highly individual ways that the work effects us as well as offering several

Leave Me Alone…Please Help Me: Helping Youth with Anger Management Concerns

Children exposed to significant trauma or neglect often also develop
communication and behavioral styles based on anger and rage. They commonly express themselves in negative and self-destructive ways.
This workshop will focus on proactive and practical strategies useful in
handling the challenging behaviors most often exhibited by youth dealing
with anger management issues.

Hoarding: Behind the Scenes
Andrea Kelley, M.S.W.
An evidence-based model for understanding hoarding beliefs and behaviors
will be presented along with direct implications for treatment. Intervention
strategies presented will include establishing goals for treatment, increasing
organizing and problem solving skills and correcting problematic beliefs
about possessions. Group treatment, web-based therapy in the home, roles
for family members and “coaches,” and community interventions for nonvoluntary clients will be described.

CE CREDITS
All workshops are approved for 6 hours for MA licensed social workers
(pending), licensed mental health counselors, licensed marriage and family
therapists, substance abuse counselors and national certified counselors. Credits
for licensed social workers are also accepted by the CT, RI and NH Boards. Each
workshop meets the criteria for 6 contact hours for nurses as specified by the
MA, NH, RI and CT Boards of Nursing. MA, NH, ME, RI and CT Educators will
also receive a certificate of attendance for 6 hours. Workshops are co-sponsored
with Community Healthlink, which is approved by the American Psychological
Association to sponsor 6 CE Credits for psychologists.
