SHOPPING FACILITIES
Few people outside Europe realise what a shopper's paradise Bordeaux truly is. There are some of the world's
most popular brand names on parade here: Cartier, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc, Christian Lacroix, Rolex
and Tartine et Chocolat.
The pinnacle of shopping in Bordeaux is the Golden Triangle of the Allées de Tourny, the Cours de l'Intendance and the Cours Clemenceau. This
triangle contains the Place des Grands-Hommes, home to the city's most prestigious shops vending everything from foodstuffs the latest
fashions.
In the heart of Bordeaux is Rue Sainte-Catherine. This pedestrian only shopping street is 1.2 kilometers of shops, restaurants and cafes; it is also
the longest shopping street in Europe.
You don't have to shell out your last dollar on upscale designer shops, however. There are plenty of cheaper French chain stores here for you to
choose from along with countless locally owned boutiques where you can get something special at a reasonable price.
And of course don't forget the wine. The whole Bordeaux region offer their local vintages for sale by the case and at very favorable prices.

DISCOVER OUR CYCLING TRACKS...
The Gironde department is criss-crossed with a network of bicycle and pedestrian paths. There are more than
700 km of paths set aside for cyclists, and over 2,000 km of hiking trails more propitious to mountain bikes.
These are complemented by 453 km of urban cycle lanes.
Such a huge network is only normal for France's largest department.
The Gironde offers safe cycling in a rich, varied environment. Bicycle hire stations are available throughout the
department.
 THE ARCACHON BAY
In the Arcachon Bay area, the 90 km separating the southern part of La Teste-de-Buch from Cap-Ferret on the northern side need to be travelled
by car. However, from one village to the next, it is also possible to go along cycle paths or the coastal path to discover the region from port to
port.
 THE MÉDOC
In the Médoc, it is possible to follow the coastline for 120 km, from the Pointe de Grave to Arcachon, stopping along the way, if you wish, on the
famous Route des Châteaux.
 THE ENTRE-DEUX-MERS
Cyclists in the Entre-Deux-Mers region will appreciate the small, peaceful hills and valleys thanks to the Piste Verte Roger Lapébie, nearly 50 km
long. Located along a former railway track, this gently-sloping path goes through beautiful countryside. Parking lots, picnic areas, cafés,
restaurants, bed and breakfasts, etc. are all available close to the cycle path.
 THE SUD-GIRONDE
In the Sud-Gironde the path goes through the largest forested area in Europe: forêts des Landes de Gascogne, the beautiful villages of Sauternes
or Langon and also through historical patrimony of place such as Château de Roquetaillade, Château de Cazeneuve, Collégiale d’Uzeste…
 CARNET DE VOYAGE CYCLO
In order to prepare your trip, the Carnet de Voyage CYCLO published by the Gironde Department Tourist Committee, outlines the network of
paths and trails, and suggests itineraries covering 410 km. Each section is accompanied by a detailed map, with places to see and useful addresses. The guide also suggests trips and tourist circuits throughout the Gironde and points out some of the department's many points of
interest.
