Christmas Concerts
"Advent, this powerful liturgical season that we are beginning, invites us to pause in silence to
understand a presence. It is an invitation to understand that the individual events of the day are
hints that God is giving us, signs of the attention he has for each one of us."
---Pope Benedict VXI, Homily at First Vespers of Advent, November 28, 2009

A SOFT MANGER FOR JESUS: There is a tradition of placing a piece of straw for each ‘good
deed’ ,Corporal and Spiritual Work of Mercy, into the manger making a ‘soft bed’ for Jesus on
Christmas day. Thus Baby Jesus will lie in comfort on all our good deeds.
Under the altar there will be a basket of straw and a ‘Manger for Baby Jesus’. Every week take a
piece of straw for every work of mercy you have done and place it in the crib for Baby Jesus, before of after Mass. This activity is for EVERYONE in the parish. Parents, please explain this to
your children. Let’s make Baby Jesus the most comfortable bed this Christmas!

thing a believer can do is introduce someone to Jesus and tell them of their friendship with
Him.”

side of the Apostles Creed there are suggestions on how to give witness to our faith in whatever situation we find ourselves. Share the love of Jesus with someone this week!

St. Nicholas’ feast day is Dec. 6.He was a 4th century bishop of Myra, who was very generous to the

A VOCATION VIEW
The Season of Advent calls us to be vigilant in anticipation of the Master’s return so that we live each
day according to the teachings of Christ. Some are called to teach, preach, and witness those teachings
as priests, deacons, and religious. God may be calling you to a Church vocation. If you think God is
calling you, call Father Walter Szczesny at 716-847-5535. You can also check out the “Priest of the
Month” stories on our website – www.buffalovocations.org!
