Completion of Andreas Cancer Center...
RWC recently completed the construction of the Andreas Cancer Center - Mayo Health System at the
Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. Construction of the Cancer Center started in May 2008
with the construction of a temporary entry and drop off for the Emergency, Oncology & Same Day
Surgery departments as the existing entryway was removed and reconstructed with the new Cancer
Center. Once that was complete, ground was broken and new construction started on the Cancer
Center in July 2008.
The biggest challenge we faced throughout construction was the remodeling portion of the project.
Along with the new construction of the Cancer Center, which is 33,150 sf of new building on two
levels, we completed 14,400 sf of remodeling on three levels of the existing building with a majority
of it taking place on the 1st floor in the Emergency & Radiation Oncology departments. Fifteen
different phases of construction remodels in the PACU, Radiation Oncology, Emergency, Same Day
Surgery, Medical Records, Switchboard and Registration departments were completed, all while
keeping the departments functioning and operating during that time.
We also broke our site work into three different phases and turned over two-thirds of the parking lot
last fall to alleviate the parking shortage caused by the construction. All the hard work and planning

The remodel at Luther Mankato Honda’s new location on Madison Avenue is now complete. RWC had the challenge
of working while the dealership was in operation. All in all, the project went very well and Luther has ended up with a
well designed larger facility to be able to service their clients better. Some of the upgrades were: painting of the
exterior of the building, new metal roof panels at the mansards, new service write-up offices and retail parts “boutique”
room, new and updated bathrooms, showroom remodel, electrical and HVAC upgrades, and overall upgrade of the
finishes (walls, floors, casework, etc.)
Thanks to Baker Associates (Jon Baker, Stephen Myslajek, Kristy Hausladen), the Luther Automotive Group (Mark
Beithon, Linda McGinty, Kathy Dickson and all the great people at LMH), and to our job superintendent Jim Jirak, the
RWC crew, and the subcontractors for helping on this successful remodel project!
ISJ Andreas Cancer Center…continued from Page 1
produced a beautiful new building which boasts a grand entry with a revolving door, spacious and open new Cancer Center
with bountiful natural light and an inspirational connection to the outdoors including a patient-accessible healing garden
with stone columns, metal trellis and stone planters. The entryway also creates a direct path into the ER with a terrazzo
hallway,
architectural glass, wood veneer wall covering and stone details. Having Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology now
located side-by-side and improving the flow and look of the ER, the Mankato area is blessed to have a state-of-the-art
facility right here in our community to serve patients.
The completion of this project is a tribute to the hard work, thought and planning of many from every side of the table. We
want to thank ISJ Hospital Staff including Rick Westmark, Jon Conner, Dan Briggs, Steve Hammes, Greg Wersal, Shawna
Merrill, Ismail Ahmed, Tom Allen, Becky Shaw, Kristi Olson and all other ISJ employees who contributed to the
project. We would also like to thank Ellerbe Becket, project architect and engineer, including Dave Lyon, Kim Pierson, Jim
Lohman and Dean Smith. In closing I would like to thank Chad Amundson, RWC Construction Manager, and Keith Furst,
RWC Superintendent and the rest of the RWC crew who participated in the project as well as all the subcontractors and
suppliers for all their hard work.

Creation Technologies, St. Peter, MN
In September, RWC broke ground on a new production and office facility for Creation Technologies in St.
Peter, MN. The new facility is a 50,000 sf precast building with approximately 12,000 sf of office space and
38,000 sf of production space including a loading
dock. The project is scheduled to be completed in
the Spring of 2010.
St. Peter Clinic - Mayo Health System
St. Peter, MN
The St. Peter Clinic – Mayo Health System is the newest facility to be built on St. Peter’s hospital campus. Pre-construction planning
was essential in completing this project successfully as it was built under unique circumstances. The City of St. Peter was building
their Medical Office Building (M.O.B.) on the same site at the same time as RWC was constructing the St. Peter Clinic. The facilities
are connected by a shared wall and are located adjacent to the City’s hospital. Both construction projects had to be completed on
schedule as the St. Peter Clinic patients need to pass through the M.O.B. to get to the hospital if needed. The St. Peter Clinic is a
very valuable asset to the City as it provides the services of Family Medicine, Behavioral Health and Chiropractic Care.
Thanks to the designers from Paulsen Architects and Dunham Associates along with Rick Westmark and Randy Sorenson of ISJ,
and Ismail Ahmed, Margie Hanson, and the rest of the Clinic staff.
A special thanks to Jesse Schott of Paulsen Architects and Arnie
Nimps of RWC, the RWC crew and the subs/suppliers for all their
hard work on this well-run project.
RWC is acting as the Construction Manager for the
project and will be self performing the cast in place
concrete, steel fabrication & erection and carpentry
work for the project.
Rhapsody Music, Mankato, MN
Recently completed was a minor remodel at the Rhapsody Music Store in Mankato. The RWC crew completed a Practice
Room (consisting of metal stud work, ceiling work, flooring) within Rhapsody’s facility due to an increase in the number of
music students that they teach. Thanks to Arnie Nimps, Job Superintendent, and his crew for completing this
project with minimal disruption to the store’s employees and customers.
