Peter Larocque Thank you to the many SYNNEX partners and associates, businesses, and individuals who sponsored and donated generously. Additionally, thank you to the many volunteers President, North America Distribution, SYNNEX Corporation Founder, SYNNEX Share the Magic Meet the People You Helped Make-A-Wish® South Carolina grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. As one of 61 Make-A-Wish chapters across the U.S., Make-A-Wish SC has been granting wishes for local kids with life-threatening medical conditions since 1984. The chapter has never turned away a qualified child and grants on average three wishes a week. The organization is funded through private donations, individuals, companies, and special events. Receipts from the 2014 SYNNEX Share the Magic Gala will provide funding for approximately 28 wishes this year. Since 1992, A Child’s Haven has provided therapeutic intervention and prevention services for developmentally delayed, abused, and neglected children ages 2-5 in Greenville County. The goal of the program is to work with children in the early developmental stages to encourage learning success as they enter school. Through SYNNEX Share the Magic, in 2014, A Child’s Haven was able to create a new Parent Support Center, expand their Parenting a nd Home Visitation program, and complete fundraising for a new facility that will allow them to help more children that are d evelopmentally or emotionally delayed. “Because of the generous investment made by SYNNEX Share the Magic in 2014, we were able to grant 156 wishes to children facing life-threatening medical conditions in 2014,” says Bill Tiller, President and CEO. “That is the most ever in our 30-year history! Because of SYNNEX Share the Magic’s steadfast partnership, we plan to provide hope, strength, and joy to 165 wish kids in 2015. Just as medicine heals the body, Make-A-Wish heals the spirit.” The new building will enable A Child’s Haven to nearly double the capacity of the main center and add an Infant Center, a preventive program that will work with and support young mothers immediately after giving birth. Funding from SYNNEX Share the Magic is used for direct clinical services and growth. Their goal is to add one classroom of twelve children by the 2015/2016 fiscal year. achildshaven.org “SYNNEX Share the Magic has truly made a difference in the lives of many children and families in our community as we strive to break the cycle of hopelessness,” says Salli Alexander, Director of Major Gifts. “Our objectives are to heal the child, strengthen the caregiving skills of the parents, and chart a successful pathway through mainstream schooling and to a life of self-reliance.” sc.wish.org Clement’s Kindness was established by the Community Foundation of Greenville to help address the psychological, social, emotional, and financial needs of Upstate SC families impacted by pediatric cancer and other serious blood disorders. Since 1975, the residential program at Pendleton Place for Children and Families has been a place of safety and comfort for children hurt by child abuse, domestic violence, neglect, and other forms of trauma. Children and families are helped through a focus on residential care, supportive community services for teenagers, safe family visitation, and comprehensive assessment for children and families in the foster care system. Through SYNNEX Share the Magic funds in 2014, Clement’s Kindness was able to support the following at the BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center: provide nearly $67,000 in financial support to families, commit to a $200,000 upgrade to the Day Hospital/Infusion Center, and help fund a chaplaincy position dedicated to patients and families going through the traumatic process of facing pediatric cancer and other serious blood disorders. Additionally, they were able to pay toward a $400,000 commitment to Camp Courage for the new on-site Infirmary, and sponsor teen support groups, survivorship programs, and school intervention programs. Much of this funding was made possible because of SYNNEX Share the Magic. clementskindness.com A wish can be as unique as the child who makes it. The experience can also be a defining moment in a child’s recovery and often gives them the strength that fuels them to comply with their rigorous medical treatments. Eight-year-old Carter from Charleston, S.C., recently received his wish to go to a University of Miami Hurricanes football game. Limited only by a wish child’s imagination and passion, wishes have included some of America’s most beloved celebrities and athletes, favorite sporting events and television shows, and iconic destinations. Because of SYNNEX Share the Magic, Pendleton Place has been able to transform itself from a children’s shelter to an organization that delivers long-term positive impact in the lives of hurting children & families. “These funds make a tremendous difference in the lives of these children and position our organization to demonstrate stronger outcomes for those we serve,” says Laurie Rovin, Executive Director. In 2015, Clement’s Kindness will work to achieve its financial goal for the new Infirmary at Camp Courage and the Day Hospital/Infusion Center at the BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center, continue to provide financial support to families, sponsor teen and school support groups, and offer trips for their patients to Carowinds and Clemson football games, just to name a few. In 2015, Pendleton Place will celebrate its 40th anniversary. SYNNEX Share the Magic funds will continue to be used to maintain a proper infrastructure within the organization and to sustain the following programs: Residential Program; Smith Supportive Services for Youth in Transition; Family and Child Assessment Center; and Family Bridges. pendletonplace.org 20 EVENTS 14 Casino Royale at Thornblade Club, hosted by Faust Boyer Group The Faust Boyer Group held a Casino Royale on Friday, August 22, 2014, at Thornblade Country Club to benefit SYNNEX Share the Magic.
