Assembling and maintaining models requires a basic level of technical skill, and a sensible logical approach. Any error in building, repairing or maintaining the model could result in serious injury or damage. Technical problems or an incorrectly assembled model may lead to the propeller unexpectedly beginning to turn. Always stay out of the vicinity of rotating propellers and never allow any item to come into contact with a spinning prop. As neither the manufacturer or the dealer has any influence over the way that models are operated they can accept no responsibility for and damage caused. If this model is the first radio controlled model which you are attempting to build or fly, you should secure the assistance of an experienced model pilot. Your local dealer will be able to assist you in locating your local model aircraft club or experienced pilots in your area. NEVER fly your model over people and never operate the model in way which may endanger people or animals. Before your first flight you should conduct a range check of the radio control system, secure the model to a solid object, and ensure that you have full control of all functions with the antennae collapsed over a distance of at least 25 metres. Before and after every flight inspect the model for damage, and rectify any faults before you attempt to take off. The operator is responsible for any damage caused by the operation of flying models. Always observe any local laws regarding the operation of model aircraft. Furthermore, the following instructions must be followed: • • • • • • • • • • • • The kit contains small parts which may cause choking if swallowed keep away from small children. The model should not be changed in any way, doing so will invalidate the guarantee. Never come into contact with rotating parts. Do not fly over wet ground or grass as water will damage the models electrical components Do not expose the model or batteries to direct sunlight, always keep them in the shade. Inspect the model before and after every flight for damage. Only ever fly the model if it is in perfect working order. The model can only be flown in good weather. Do not fly in wind, rain or thunder storms. Find a place to fly which complies with any laws, and is free from obstacles such as trees, houses or power cables. Remember that your model is made from such materials as plastic and wood, and as such is inflammable. Keep it away from any open flame, or high temperatures. When operating the model, switch on the transmitter first and then the aircraft, switch off in the reverse order. Always ensure that the throttle stick is in the low position before you switch on. Switch off the model first, and then the transmitter. Fitting kit including wheels, undercarriage, horns, hinges etc. Clear canopy. Instructions. Building the Model 1. Glue the formers, undercarriage mount and strengthening struts shown above securely. 2. Mount the battery plate, the wing supports and the blind nuts to the assembly as shown above. Ensure that all of the joints are sound. 3. The completed fuselage cell. 4. Glue the blind nuts into the wing mounting plate and then glue the sub-assembly to the former ensuring that it is vertical and square. 3 Building the Model 5. Glue the rear servo mounting plates and former together. 6. Securely glue the rear former to the wing plate/fuselage cell assembly. 7. The lower rear balsa fuselage plate can now be glued on fol lowed by the servo mounting frame. 8. Glue a 3 mm stringer into the notches of the left and right hand fuselage sides and glue them and the formers into place. 9. The elevator seat is now fitted and a piece of 3 mm strip is used to real the end. 10. Glue the front and rear 3 mm stringers into place leaving them over-hanging by approx 1 cm. 4 Building the Model 11. Glue a 6 mm stringer to the lower left and right of the fuselage sides and add the front former ensuring that it is square and at right angles. 2 mm balsa should then be used to plank the lower front fuselage. 12. Dampen 1.5 mm balsa sheet and plank the fuselage top at the front and rear. 13. Glue the pins to the battery hatch. 14. 15. Completed upper wing half ready to be glued to the other half. 16. Glue both wing halves together and fit the central leading edge. Plank the upper and lower joint with the precut pieces and then fit the rear bridging piece. Select all of the upper wing components and print out the plan. Please note that the main spars are laser cut parts which are not shown above. The longer main spar is for the upper wing. 5 Building the Model 17. Glue the wing tip parts together and glue the completed assemblies to the wing. 18. Glue a piece of scrap balsa to the rib where the inter-plane struts are attached to allow the covering foil to be later ironed on. 19. Build the upper aileron from 2 X 6 mm balsa and sand to shape. 20. Sheet the front third of the wing and sand the sheeting and sand the leading edge joint smooth. 21. Lower wing joiner components. 22. Lower wing joiner components glued together. 6 Building the Model 23. Build the lower wing using the components shown above. 24. One half of the lower wing completed, the other half is a mirror image. 25. Glue the servo frames to the lower wing as shown. 26. Fit the central sheeting and the rear strengthener. 27. Sand the strengthener to shape and add the upper central sheeting followed by the upper and lower main sheeting. 28. Build the ailerons from 2 X 6 mm balsa and sand to shape. 7 Building the Model 29. Assemble the tail surfaces as shown and sand the edges round. 30. Fit the cowl and sand it to shape.
