Box 121041 Nashville, TN 37212 Jerry Salley has been referred to by Billboard Magazine as "One of Music Row's greatest veteran tunesmiths," and has had over 400 songs recorded (selling in excess of 14.5 million records worldwide) in his multi-award winning songwriting career. From Sir Elton John's only chart single to appear on the Billboard Country Chart ("Where We Both Say Goodbye" - duet with Australian artist Catherine Britt) to a Gospel song so popular it has been included in Church Hymnals ("His Strength Is Perfect”), Jerry's long list of accomplishments speaks for itself. Writing and singing in Nashville since 1982, he has written multiple hits in Country, Bluegrass and Gospel Music and may well be the most successful songwriter to have earned equal recognition from all three genres of music. He is a seven-time Dove Award nominee, having won a prestigious Dove for the 1990 Inspirational Song of the Year "His Strength Is Perfect", recorded by and cowritten with Steven Curtis Chapman. In addition to his Dove recognition, Jerry has received numerous awards from different associations for his songwriting accomplishments (IBMA, NSAI, SESAC, Gospel Voice Magazine, Absolutely Gospel, etc.). Along with friends Carl Jackson and Larry Cordle, “The Trio” (Cordle, Jackson & Salley) recorded the song "You're Running Wild" on the CD entitled "Livin', Lovin', Losin' - Songs Of the Louvin Brothers", that won the 2003 GRAMMY for Country Album Of The Year. As an artist, Jerry has been singing since the age of 12 and has performed on numerous stages and shows, including the honor of performing as a soloist many times on the world famous Grand Ole Opry. His television appearances include Late Night with David Letterman, Regis and Kathy Lee, NBC'S Today Show and several different TNN (The Nashville Network) shows. What The Industry Folks Are Saying About Jerry Salley: “Jerry Salley…One of Music Row’s greatest veteran tunesmiths” Billboard Magazine (August 13, 2005) “A brilliant and successful songwriter who’s steeped in bluegrass and country tradition…” Nashville Scene Magazine (January 19, 2006) “Jerry Salley is one of the great tunesmiths of our time. His songs have contributed to the careers of dozens of stars. But nobody sings Jerry’s songs better than Jerry.” Orin Frisen, KFDI & KFTI – Wichita, KS “Jerry Salley…very entertaining with a great stage show and the new songs are like a breath of fresh air for any audience to enjoy” Darrel Adkins/Musicians Against Childhood Cancer "Jerry is not only a friend, in the truest sense of the word, he is also a songwriter's songwriter... an artist that completely understands the idea of "painting a picture" using the marriage of lyric and rhyme; someone that fully grasps the art of crafting a song, rather than throwing words against the page. His paintbrush is a pen, his canvas a legal pad and his goal always another masterpiece." Box 121041 Nashville, TN 37212 Dugger Mountain Music Hall “Gospel From My Grassroots,” released in October of 2015, is Jerry’s first all Bluegrass Gospel project. This highly anticipated 13 track CD features guest vocalists Steven Curtis Chapman, Dale Ann Bradley, Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Val Storey, Bradley Walker, and Jerry’s baby girl Maggie Salley singing harmony. All songs penned by Jerry, the CD is comprised of 10 previously recorded songs by other artists and 3 brand new, never released songs. “When it comes to bluegrass and country music, it's not any good if it's not real. That's just my opinion, you understand, but listening to this new collection by my friend Jerry Salley reminds me of just what I love about this music--it's real. But then, that's a natural reaction, I think, because the guy who wrote and sings these songs is the real deal. Honesty, integrity, authenticity, and faith are the attributes that order Jerry's life, and those qualities are reflected in these songs. As I listen to this album, I'm struck by the fact that I can almost hear Jerry's life--rich with experiences that he willingly shares--play out before my ears. Whether it's the candor of "Every Scar," the testimony of "It's Not What You Know (It’s Who You Know)," or the sincere praise of "His Strength Is Perfect," you get a good idea of just who Jerry is through these songs. Country and bluegrass music have a treasure in Jerry Salley. There are certainly many fine songs with his name on them, but I don't think anything represents the quality of his writing and performing better than these gospel songs. What's more, just like the Subject Jerry is writing and singing about, they're real. “ Kyle Cantrell, SiriusXM Radio Nashville, Tennessee Industry Quotes and Reviews: “My buddy was gracious enough to let me hear this a little while back. This is another great record and everyone is going to love it! Congratulations Jerry.” Mark Hodges, President, Mountain Fever Records Hallels - Jerry Salley, "Gospel From My Grassroots" Album Review “These are heartfelt, experience story songs everyone can identify with, done in the most professional bluegrass style.
