And since only you know your firearm intimately, you may consider loading your own cartridges with Lapua’s outstanding reloading components. Lapua is not a brand for the masses. It is the choice of the true and uncompromising aficionado – the marksman who can hit the target. Ernest Hemingway was a writer and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, a big game hunter, war correspondent and bullfighting aficionado. In his novel ‘Death in the Afternoon’, Hemingway describes the aficionado as a person who not only understands bullfighting in general but also appreciates its subtle nuances – the particulars only a true believer can grasp. For Hemingway, the aficionado spirit covers all human endeavor. *Aficionado – an ardent devotee (Webster´s Encyclopaedic Unabridged Dictionary of English Language) Our product range includes cartridges for .22 rimfire, rifles, pistols and revolvers in a broad selection of caliber, as well as high quality components such as bullets, cases and powder for reloading. In a comparative rifle test, Lapua’s .22 LR ammunition outscored even the latest newcomers to the competition. USA .22 LR ammunition accuracy test Date of the test: September 2001 Ammunition selection: Samples were taken from retail purchases from several manufacturers. Lots: one lot per brand. Weather conditions: same for all products. Barrel length: 24-inch barrel. Chronograph: remained constant during the test. Shooting distance: 50 yards. Groups: 5 shot groups. Result given: average group size for five groups. Other measured values: velocity, bullet weight, rim thickness, powder weight, primer compound variation. THE MEANING OF A PRODUCTION LOT Cartridges and cartridge components can be identified with the help of a production lot number. For a competition shooter, this number is the ideal tool for identifying ammunition. For instance, if a shooter has discovered a cartridge that delivers exceptional Lapua accuracy at 50 meters in specifications (10 shots): accuracy, he may look for similar cartridges in the same production lot. • Midas M = 13 mm/.51 inches • Midas L = 13 mm/.51 inches • Master L = 20 mm/.78 inches The test was shot with 5 types of Lapua .22 LR and 4 types of widely recognized quality products from competing cartridge manufacturers. Although there may be minute differences between production lots, the cartridges in a single production lot are usually identical. Yet another revolutionary ammunition from Lapua! .22 LR Lapua Signum High-quality multipurpose cartridge Lapua Signum is the first .22 caliber cartridge that can offer the shooter similar additional properties as those that have been obtained with coated bullets of center fire calibers. The bullet maintains its properties! The lubricant decreases the friction caused by the bullet to the rifling, especially at the initial phase of the shot. The greater the pressure to the tail of the bullet is, the less control you have over bullet disfigurement. Deformed bullets leave lead in the rifling. Thanks to good lubrication, the bullet will rotate evenly through the rifling and the tail of the bullet will not be disfigured asymmetrically. Best of all, Lapua Signum’s superior internal ballistics ensures that the external ballistic properties of the bullet can be retained without compromising quality. .22 Long Rifle Cartridges Product no. This coating reduces both friction between the bullet and the barrel as well as wear on the barrel itself. It also delivers tighter groupings by preventing the build up of copper inside the barrel. To make barrel cleaning easier, Silver Jacket bullets contain no wax. Silver Jacket coating increases barrel life and reduces the variation between long shooting series. For reloaders, the Silver Jacket coating allows you to load higher muzzle velocities without exceeding maximum pressures. Ballistic tables are usually computed with readily available exterior ballistics programs for PCs. 640 Such tables allow a shooter to estimate the trajectory, time of flight, remaining velocity/energy and wind drift of his bullet. 690 The calculation of ballistics tables is based on the ballistic coefficient of the bullet. The ballistic coefficient describes the bullet’s ability to maintain its velocity and is usually determined by test shooting. Additional variables are exact muzzle velocity, the sight height and the sight-in range. The result is a tabulated table or graph from which you can see the change Training Cartridges Caliber Product no. 6.5x55 Swedish 4316033 .308 Win 7.62x51 4317527 7.62x53R/54R 4317503 .30-06 4317577 Bullet type Weight Code FMJ 6.5 g/100 gr S341 FMJ 8.0 g/123 gr FMJ123 FMJ 8.0 g/123 gr FMJ123 FMJ 8.0 g/123 gr FMJ123 in the point of impact and the wind drift. For example, you can use the tables to determine how many clicks you have 620 When using these tables, keep in mind that they are computed to match so-called standard to adjust elevation when the shooting range increases 100 m. conditions – sea level pressure, temperature +15 °C, barometric pressure 1013 mbar and 640 relative humidity 78%. If the shooting conditions deviate from this standard condition, the actual bullet trajectory will differ from the computed trajectory. In other words, ballistic tables 610 are an estimate rather than an exact expression of the bullet trajectory and wind drift. 580 For the real aficionado 10 11 Lapua hunting cartridges are available in most rifle calibers Hunting cartridges Hunting Cartridges Caliber .222 Rem 5.7x43 Product no. These soft point bullets offer superior internal and terminal ballistics. Their trajectory is straight and will not be deflected by brush or branches. The Lapua’s hunting bullets deliver excellent penetration combined with controlled expansion and high weight retention. Best of all, Lapua cartridges are reliable in all kinds of hunting grounds. 4316051 4316056 6.5x55 Swedish 4316021 7.62x39 4317235 Mega – superb penetration and bullet expansion .308 Win 7.62x51 The Lapua Mega is designed for big game hunting. This bullet is at its best in the field and its penetration is matched by its quadruple expansion on impact, which causes immediate shock in the quarry. The Mega is a soft point bullet with a protective copper jacket. This innovative feature guarantees that bullet’s lead alloy core remains intact when loading the magazine or shooting through brush or branch. In addition, Mega’s advanced lead alloy core achieves up to 97% weight retention. Pure copper jacket is progressively tapered to control expansion development throughout a wide range of velocities 4317303 SCIROCCO SCIROCCO – optimal accuracy and terminal performance in a hunting bullet 4317183 4317189 Jacket and core are joined together using proven Swift bonding technology Scirocco bullets mushroom in a controlled manner, with high weight retention and outstanding jacket/core integrity. A-FrameTM 4317590 7.62x53R/54R The MEGA belt in the middle section of the bullet keeps the lead core in position 4317502 A-Frame™ cross member positioned to optimize expansion diameter for each caliber The A-Frame construction and proprietary bonding technique insure 95%+ weight retention, even on large game with heavy bones. A-FrameTM performance is unmatched by other offerings: the tapered sidewalls of the upper chamber allow expansion to begin at relatively low velocity levels, with progressively greater control achieved as the walls thicken, until upset is completely stopped at the rigid A-FrameTM cross member. .30-06 A-FRAME A-Frame bullets also mushroom in a controlled manner, with maximum expansion and 95% weight retention for unequaled stopping power. In fact, Lapua cartridges have achieved ultimate favour among CISM and ISSF competitors, with 80% of them choosing the Lapua .32 S&W cartridge for optimal on-target performance. BARREL CARE Proper barrel care will help prolong the accuracy life of your barrel. To stress the importance of the proper barrel cleaning, the military arsenal tests have demonstrated that barrels which are properly cleaned show accurate barrel life up to 10000 rounds while the accuracy of a new barrel can be destroyed by improper barrel care during one hunting season! To clean your rifle barrel you need: 1. High-quality cleaning rod 2. Bronze bristle brush and tip 3. Barrel cleaning solvent of good reputation, formulated to dissolve metal fouling 4. Patches 5. A chamber guide to center the cleaning rod and to protect the throat from small dents and nicks caused by rod tip contact with the barrel. To clean barrel proceed as follows: 1. Using a bronze cleaning brush saturated with barrel cleaning solvent, clean the barrel with at least ten strokes. To preserve the critical muzzle rifling, brush the barrel from the receiver end using a chamber guide. Automatics, slide, and lever actions must be cleaned from the muzzle end. 2. Pass as many patches through the barrel as necessary to remove the solvent. necessary, you may leave the solvent in the barrel for a longer period according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A clean patch inserted after this time will give you an indication of the fouling present in the barrel, by the green or blue residue on the patch. WARNING: Do not mix ammonium and petroleum based bore solvents. They may react with each others resulting to organic acids that are harmful not only for black barrels but for stainless ones, too! 3. Thoroughly wipe the chamber area dry. Two patches over the rod tip usually provide enough bulk to make this an easy step. 4. If you are going to store your rifle for a longer period, oil your rifle barrel to prevent corrosion simply by passing an oiled patch through the barrel. Store your rifle horizontally or muzzle down to prevent the oil from seeping to the breech. Don't forget to wipe it dry before the next shooting! Tip: If you have to store the firearm the muzzle upwards chamber the firearm with a fired cartridge case. That will prevent the oil from flowing into the action. Our bullets offer two alternatives Lapua offers two versions of .32 S&W Long Wadcutter cartridges with unbeatable accuracy. The 98grs/6.35 g bullet is designed for competition shooting. The lighter 83 grs/5.35 g bullet, because of its low recoil, is ideal for military rapid fire shooting and for shooters who require lower recoil. This means that Lapua is able to offer two top class alternatives to all CISM and ISSF centerfire pistol events. Exceptional accuracy According to Lapua specifications the accuracy of both bullet types must not exceed 30 mm (10 shots groups at 25 meters, measured from center to center of the outer bullet holes). When tested with other firearms, in truth, Lapua cartridges deliver groups clearly under 30 mm and a group of 15 mm or less is not exceptional. Lapua – the winner’s choice The international shooting community value the Lapua .32 S&W cartridge’s accuracy and low muzzle velocity. In fact, many national teams have selected Lapua as their number one cartridge. In the annual CISM world championships, about 80 % of shooters use the Lapua .32 Wadcutter cartridge. For the real aficionado 14 15 When CEPP is fired at a 15-degree angle towards a hard target such as a brick wall, the bullet does not fragment. A regular 9 mm FMJ bullet is deflected at an angle of 30 degrees. Megashock – the hollow point bullet for law enforcement In action CEPP works with all modern pistols and machine guns in a wide range of temperatures. Penetration capability All CEPP bullets can penetrate car doors, windows and other light structures without tumbling or losing their ability to penetrate soft targets. Cepp penetrates soft materials like wood and paper even at angles of 15 degrees. Cepp Super can also be shot through two 1.5 mm steel sheets 10 mm apart (hardness 37 kp/mm). MEGASHOCK Megashock’s superb penetration of soft targets is based on its expansion that causes controlled stopping (shock) effect. The bullet will not ricochet when fired at a wooden target at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees. It also delivers exceptional ontarget penetration at the most acute angle. A large hollow point initiates controlled expansion, causing an immediate stopping effect. Megashock bullets keep an extreme high residual weight upon impact. In addition, Megashock bullets offer exceptional weight retention on impact. Since they do not ricochet, fragment or otherwise splinter, Megashock bullets cause no collateral damage to bystanders. Megashock hollow point bullets are manufactured in 9 mm caliber. CEPP – the special non-ricochet police projectile Pistol and Revolver Cartridges Caliber .32 S&W Long WC Product no.
