PCA – Golden Empire Region, Board Meeting Minutes, 20 January 2015 5:30pm, Macaroni Grill
Board Members Present:
Linn Christopher (President)
Pat Wadman (Vice President)
Betsy Wadman (Treasurer)
Charles Anderson (Secretary)
Items for Discussion
Linn:
Is the current meeting time and place (1-hour prior to the monthly Social Dinner) acceptable to all Board members?
Yes
Linn would like to “rotate” the “2013 Region of the Year” trophy among the members for a month at a time. For all their efforts over the
past year, Linn selected Betsy and Pat Wadman to have the trophy for February. Pat and Betsy will select the March honoree.
Linn suggested changing the location for the weekly drive breakfast simply as a change of scenery. Everyone agreed that it would be nice
to try someplace different. The Crest, Jays, Farmer Boys Village Grill and the Rocket Shop Café were suggested as alternatives.
The full membership selected The Crest later in the evening
Linn introduced Charles Rooks who gave a short presentation regarding a possible March event at Minter Field
Pat:
Pat gave a short talk about the Zone 8 awards banquet at the Temecula Creek Resort. The event was well-attended and enjoyable. Greg
Fullmer won an award. Linn met with PCA president Caren Cooper. Betsy Wadman was appointed co-chair of Zone 8.
Betsy:
The club has a balance of $8545.60. Betsy suggested donating $5000 to MARE and $1000 to the Minter Field Air Museum. Some members proposed expanding the number of organizations receiving donations. Linn would like to have suggestions from the membership
regarding worthy organizations.
Donations tabled until next meeting.
The GEM Concours will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 with two possible venues: Stramler Park ($600) or The Alumni Park at Cal
State Bakersfield ($550). The Cal State location would require renting portable restrooms.
The Board selected the Cal State location.
Betsy has prepared a letter to Porsche of Bakersfield for a Concours donation. She is also looking for a donation/vendor co-chair. Linn will
handle food and beverage.
Other Items:
Social Dinner locations: Sandy Anderson will schedule the February social at La Costa Mariscos. Maggie Chow will check with Woolgrowers as a possible site for the March social. P.F. Changs was also mentioned as a possible future site.
Web Page: Anton Khatsanovich needs to have up-to-date information regarding future events as soon as they’re scheduled.
Linn would like to have a major sponsor each month featured on the web page. Anton will check web page hit statistics and suggest a
price.
Drive Insurance: Mike McGregor needs at least 3 days notice prior to any publicized drive in order to obtain drive insurance.
Newsletter Submissions: Someone asked Mike Thomas if there was a minimum lead time for newsletter submissions. No.

Lets think about another drive to Parkfield.
Maybe if enough are interested we can bring it up for discussion.
Last year we enjoyed a nice drive on Hwy 58 West to the Parkfield turnoff.
A little bumpy but a lot of fun. Waiting for us was a great Tri Tip BBQ Lunch.
