KONZA PRAIRIE HIKE
Oct 6 - $5 per person
Take a stroll through nature’s highways
as we hike along the Flint Hill’s Konza
Prairie trails. Immerse yourself in this
protected, natural setting and imagine
what Kansas was like when bison roamed
the hills and covered wagons traversed the
plains. Wear comfortable shoes, clothing,
and bring plenty of water.
NIGHT FLYER SHOOT
Come out to the range for our first
night shoot. We will shoot white targets
with the occasional prize clays mixed in.
This competition will consist of 4 rounds
of skeet.

Themed games and scenarios will be on
the menu for our first Halloween Paintball

IBEX CLIMBING GYM

IBEX Climbing Gym is an indoor
climbing facility that offers over 6,900 sq
ft of climbing area that will challenge any
beginner or most advanced climber.
BUTTERBALL BLAST
Nov 10 - $5 per attempt
We are cooking up the 3rd annual
Butterball Blast for the holidays. This event
will utilize paper targets and you will be
required to use the range guns/ammo.
After the round, you will pick your best
target and submit it as your entry to win a
turkey. One in ten will win a turkey!
Other trips, services, and activities are available. Just call or stop by for details.

own gun or borrow a range gun. Introductory clinics, parties, and unit
functions are available.
The Marina is located on Milford Lake and has over 20
watercraft available for rent; including pontoons, fishing
boats, jet skis, and ski boats. Come out and enjoy a day at
the lake. The Marina has pavilions for rent, a playground
for the children, and boat slips for easy access to our
rentable watercraft.

The Kansas State Boater’s Safety Course is
required to rent a motorized boat or you must
have a NASBLA approved card/certificate. For
information about the course visit www.kdwp.

Jet ski rentals require an additional safety review and a
mandatory test will have to be passed by all patrons.
All are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
No reservations will be accepted.
Multiple boats will not be issued to one customer.
Each boat rented must be to a Boater Safety Card holder.
(The customer who rents a boat may be held financially liable for
items that are lost, damaged, or destroyed by causes other than
fair wear and tear.)
Marina property is for personal use only to the person
it is issued. Customers will not allow unauthorized
persons to use or operate government property.

Your first stop for all Child,Youth &
School Services (CYSS) is Parent Central.
Registration is required to participate in any
CYSS Service. Annual registration fees are
currently waived (until further notice). Parent
Central’s hours are: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Last
walk-in registration taken at 4:30pm.

CYSS Hourly Care
Hourly care is open from 7:30am-5pm,
Mon-Fri at Warren East CDC and SAC. The
hourly rate is $4.00 per hour Reservations
can be made up to 30 days in advance by
calling Warren East CDC at 785-240-0822
or SAC at 785-239-9220. Families can use
the hourly care program up to 20 hours per
week, per child. All reservations are on a
first-come, first-serve basis. We make every
effort to accommodate hourly care needs.
FREE hourly care is available for the
children of deployed Soldiers. Refer to the
Army Family Covenant (AFC) Initiatives for
details. Reservation required.

Parent Advisory Board (PAB) Meeting

Army Family Covenant
(AFC) CYSS Initiatives
You must present a copy of deployment
orders (with spouse’s name) in order to
receive any of the AFC discounts in addition
to being registered with Parent Central.
Initiatives include:
•16 hours of free hourly care per month is
available to children of deployed sponsors.
Hourly care is located at Warren East CDC
and SAS. Hourly Saturday care is available
up to 90 days after the Soldier returns.

Saturday Childcares. Weekday Childcare is
free for Families participating in FRG’s.
•20% monthly discount is available for
children of deployed Soldiers for full-time
and part-day fees.
•$100 in FREE sports registrations per
child per Family per deployment. This
includes soccer, baseball, basketball, flag
football, and volleyball programs.
•$300 in FREE instructional (SKIES) classes
per child for maximum duration of eight
weeks each. Regular fees will apply after
the eight weeks.
Child Development Centers
The Army provides care in a Multi-Age
group setting. Each classroom enrolls
children with a minimum age span of 18
months. The concept of the Multi-Age
classroom is to provide a Family style
environment where the children learn from
and nurture each other. Children
experience fewer transitions while in the
Multi-Age child care setting, giving them
more time to bond with their primary
caregiver. Children also benefit widely
from interacting with classmates who are
older and younger, learning important
principles of citizenship, relationships,
respect, patience, and self-esteem. Utilizing
a creative curriculum, our approach
balances both teacher-directed and
child-initiated learning, with an emphasis
on responding to children’s learning styles
and building on their strengths
and interests.
School Support Services (SSS)
SSS develops partnerships with local schools and community organizations to help ensure
a positive educational experience for military children and youth. SSS also collaborates with
parents and schools to ensure academic success. New to the area? Let SSS help you navigate
the local school system, their procedures, programs, and schedules. SSS also supports home
school Families and can supply you with resource materials on primary, secondary, and post
secondary education.

HIRED!
Get your foot in the door today by participating in HIRED! $500 cash award is available
for youths undergoing an internship this fall. The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program
provides 15-18 year old high school students with meaningful, professionally-managed
career-exploration opportunities in MWR and military facilities on Fort Riley. In addition
to hands-on experience, you can expect to attend workforce preparation workshops such as:
problem solving, interviewing skills, résumé writing, public speaking, financial management,
and post-secondary exploration workshops. Call 785-239-3261 for more information.
School Age Center (SAc)
SAC is a nationally accredited program for Kindergarten to 5th Grade. SAC offers before
and after school programs, as well as Open Recreation. Children can utilize Open
Recreation for 10 hours per week during the school year and 20 hours per week during the
summer. Families requiring full time care may register for a weekly fee. Get five FREE
hours of Open Recreation each month simply for being registered with CYSS (reservations are
required). Normal rate is $4 per hour.

Family Child Care (FCC)
FCC providers provide child care in a home setting. FCC homes offer full-day, part-time,
and extended hours. FCC homes have unique qualities making them the preferred child care
choice for many Families. Homes provide flexible hours, a comfortable Family-like setting,
and activities based on real life experiences in the home and neighborhood. Adults wanting
to become certified FCC providers are invited to attend an FCC informational briefing.
The briefings are scheduled every Thu, starting at 1:30pm in Bldg. 6620. Take a tour of FCC

We’re here five days a week for you,
including nights and weekends!
The woodshop has 2,400 square feet
of floor space and all the specialized
equipment needed to complete any
project. A large selection of hardwoods,
plywood, and processed material are
available for purchase.
Important Class Information
Pre-registration and payment are required for some classes. Class begins
promptly; late arrivals will not always be accepted. Some ongoing class
schedules have changed; check dates and class descriptions for details.
Some classes will require you to purchase supplies. Call to verify the dates
and sign up procedures. There are enrollment limits, so sign up early.
Our ceramic and pottery areas have a
slab roller and two potter’s wheels, (only
accessible during warm weather) making
it possible to create finished ceramic
ware from scratch. You can bring in your
greenware and bisque to be fired for a
minimal fee. We no longer have ceramic
molds for pouring.
The matting and framing area has a
huge selection of mat and frame stock
available as well as state of the art
equipment. We only use conservation
and preservation matts which are the
best to preserve your framed work.
After taking a beginners class you will
be able to come and finish a project in
one day with the help of our
friendly staff.
There is a scrap booking area, with
specialized equipment such as zyron
and acc-u-cut die cutter. This is available
for walk-in use, with a minimal fee.
The Arts & Crafts Center offers tours
and classes for groups such as coffee
groups, FRG’s and scouts. We can assist
your scouts in earning badges,
woodworking and a variety of crafts.
Coffee groups and FRG’s come and make
a craft to send to your spouse or make a
craft for your home, there are many
projects to choose from. Contact our
staff for more information, or stop in
and see first hand what you can make.

Auto Mechanics Skills Class:

Class will consist of a safety brief, proper utilization of tools and equipment
such as: personal protective equipment (PPE), personal protective clothing (PPC)
and lifts. In order to earn a DA form 3031 qualification card (Required to use the
Automotive Skills Center’s service area) the individual will be asked to demonstrate
how to operate the equipment and lifts in accordance with established procedures
outlined in this class. The DA form 3031 qualification card expires 2 years from
the date it is issued. Individual’s must register one week prior to the class in order

Suspension training is a type of body
weight exercise in which a variety of
compound exercise movements can be
performed. These are done with the aim of
developing balance, flexibility, strength and
joint stability simultaneously. Excellent for
any fitness level.
Rowbics
Rowbics combines the best of rowing &
fitness standards so you can get your cardio
workout as well as hit the weights all in one
workout. Great for any fitness level but be
ready for a challenge.

Craig Fitness Center’s rock wall has
terrain for first-timers just learning to
belay and seasoned climbers seeking a
challenge. Three hour belay and ropes
