Shorebird ID tips will be offered by members of the QWSG at one of the largest shorebird roosts near Brisbane,
shorebird numbers are not high in winter, but some will be around including likely Double-banded Plover, max

This favourite birding hotspot near Brisbane will often include views of Jacana, Rufous Night-Heron, Spotless Crake,

BirdLife Australia’s National Campout
Following the morning bird walks, members and visitors registered for the BirdLife National Campout (10 – 13 July)
at Murphy’s Creek Escape will make their way independently to the campground located at 290 Thomas Road,
Upper Lockyer, Queensland 4352. For members who prefer the comforts of a motel, BirdLife Southern Queensland
has negotiated a special rate with East Gate on the Range Motel at the top of the Toowoomba Range. The motel is a
19 kilometer (27 minute) drive from the campground.
The formal campout dinner will be held on the evening of Monday 11 July at MCE. If you have not already registered
for the campout and campout dinner, visit the campout website at http://birdlife.org.au/get-involved/whatson/congress-campout to download the registration form.
A comprehensive campout itinerary including all the key habitats of the region will be available on the above
website by the first week of June.
Where is this happening, & where do I park?
We recommend coming by bus if you can. For detailed bus schedules visit: http://jp.translink.com.au/
If you do drive, we’ve highlighted an easy place to find and park, and it is free to park there on the weekends. Only a
15 -20 minute walk to Abel Smith. Other casual parking is also available on campus, and free in many areas, just be
sure to double check if there is a fee, and ensure you abide by all the other regulations. More information available
