"As a member of Good Sam Club, I pledge to give aid to others, respect nature and the environment, give back to the community and those less fortunate,
treat others with dignity and respect and wear a smile (like Good Sam and Good Samantha's) and promote the pledge of the Good Sam Club to others."

UPDATED INFO REGARDING AREA 6 2015 FRIENDSHIP
CAMPOUT
May 14-17, 2015 (leave May 17th)
If you got your number from me you need to call the RV River
Park (501-340-5312) to make your reservations. We are running out of spots and would like to add more if we need them;
however, I don't want to be responsible for these spots if we can’t
fill them. The only time you call me is to get a number. Then
call Shelia, tell her the number I gave you and make your reservations. You will have 2 weeks to get them in. That will give me a
head count. I have more people who want to come.
Thursday is pulled pork BBQ so bring a side dish to go with.
Friday we will be given a tour of the Hasting Museum . The Museum requests donations instead of an entry fee which are then
given to charity. Friday afternoon is reserved for an ice cream
social and sand bag baseball. A Chinese auction, catered meal
and live entertainment are planned for Saturday. A craft lesson
in making good hand cream will be given Saturday morning.
You will need a small container for this. And there will be a lot
of games and prizes so come and join us. Hope to see everyone
there!

TUESDAY, APRIL 14
Another month has quickly gone by...
The Rally was quite a success; we had lots of fun
with all the Arkansas volunteers. We all worked
hard and some went on to have a mini vacation
after the event. At the present time , we are
wrapping up loose ends for our Spring Samboree.
We’re gearing up for a big crowd with lots of fun
and games. Please read the entirety of this newsletter. There will be some information you might
need to know about what's on the agenda.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15
Hope the winter weather is over because we
know everyone is ready for Spring, so enjoy the
days ahead; and will see everyone at the Samboree.
We will be leaving again for a Directors’ Meeting
in Waco, then staying for the Texas Samboree.
Then it’s on to the Louisiana Samboree before we
get to ours in Texarkana. Many of our members
are planning on going to TX and LA as well.
We do have a chapter to decorate next year’s
stage and also the stage in 2017..yeah!! Thank
you! A special "THANKS" once again to everyone
who makes our Samboree a success. We cannot
do it without Y’all!!!

BELLE POINT SAMS
Belle Point Sam chapter members met at the Rest Area on I-40 near Sallisaw,
Oklahoma where Otis Edwards led the caravan to Brushy Lake City Park for the
March 2015 Campout.
Paulette’s

Once everyone was set up we gathered up at the Park’s heated shed for our
meeting followed by a delicious Chili & Hot Dog supper provided by our Wagon
Masters – the Edwards – with sides and desserts. After supper we continued
with the fellowship swapping more stories until almost dark when everyone
headed back to their rigs and Sue Boettcher headed home.
Have you registered for the 2015 Samboree? To avoid the late registration
rate, yours must be received by Melinda Wiggs, our Registrar, by April 1.
The form is available on the arkansasgoodsams.org website. Note that there
is a new registration category for the working people who aren’t able to
arrive before Friday. Also, scattered throughout this issue is the full program of the 2015 Samboree in Texarkana at the Four States Fair Grounds
April 16-19. Whether you decide to come at the first of the week and take
advantage of Early Parking or arrive on Thursday or Friday, you’ll find there
are activities every day for everyone. Entertainment promises to be above
the ordinary. Samantha’s Snack Shack will be open for your eating pleasure.
There are plenty of games going on and a seminar or two that you’ll find
interesting.
Singles, mark your calendar to attend the luncheon at the Samboree! Singles
will be meeting on Wednesday at 12:15 to enjoy a light lunch and wonderful
fellowship. Look for the sign-up sheet while you are standing in line to
register. We are hoping that "Sam's Single Time" will become a Samboree
tradition.!
If you Park Host at Bull Shoals, Lake Catherine or Petit Jean, be sure to
check the revised schedules on pages 8&9 of this issue. The Park Host
meeting at the Samboree is on Friday at 1:00 PM. (If you participate in
this program, you must attend this meeting to continue your eligibility.)
There are another 2 meetings that are a must for some chapter participants:
At 3:00 PM on Friday is the Chapter Secretaries’ Meeting. This is where
your chapter secretary will receive information about submission of changes
as well as additions/deletions to your individual chapter’s roster. The format
for maintaining these rosters is dictated by Good Sam Headquarters and
must be submitted by the AR State Secretary quarterly. And last, but not
least, is the Arkansas State Committee Meeting at 10:00 AM on Saturday.
Each chapter President is required to attend or be represented by a delegate. If you are sending a delegate, you must send that person’s name to
Bill Nery, AR State Director.
Many of our Arkansas members will be on their way to the TX Samboree in
Waco April 2-5 followed by the Louisiana Samboree in Shreveport April 912. These folks are like Arkansas’ extended family. Support them with
your presence if at all possible.
A reminder for chapter secretaries and presidents: Changes only to your
chapter’s roster are due the first week in April for the First Qtr of 2015 to
AR State Secretary Paulette Smith. DO NOT send your updated complete
roster, only the changes. You can send these to Paulette by showing the
“change” on the roster form provided you or a simple email. Again, do not
send your updated, complete roster. It isn’t possible to separate the changes and National wants the changes only! Thank you for your help.
Wednesday morning we again gathered at the Park’s heated shed for our potluck breakfast. We had two breakfast casseroles, biscuits & gravy, hash
browns, grits, donuts, etc. and enough left over to have another breakfast
Thursday morning.
Wednesday we loaded up in our vehicles and drove over to Wild Horse BBQ for
lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal and some even brought some home for
later. Later that afternoon we gathered at the Martin’s rig to watch John put
together his Berry Medley cobbler and cook it in his Lodge Dutch oven with
charcoal on his new Lodge
Dutch oven cooking table. Once the cobbler was cooked we all headed to the
heated shed to enjoy this treat, and everyone declared it the best yet; but he
still needed a little more practice! We stayed in the warm shed enjoying the
good fellowship and swapping more stories until bedtime.
Thursday morning we had our second potluck breakfast with yesterday’s leftovers plus scrambled eggs with cheese. No one had any trouble getting full, and
we spent the rest of the morning in the heated facility, enjoying the fellowship
and the telling of stories.
By noon we headed back to our individual rigs to put away leftover food and
clean dishes as needed. The Jones and the Schroeders packed up and left the
park due to commitments. The rest of the afternoon was spent with the men
getting together to discuss tire issues and supervise one guy washing his rig.
The gals got together in one rig and spent the afternoon doing hand sewing and
talking.
Thursday afternoon we loaded up in our vehicles and drove over to the local
Italian restaurant Roma’s where we had a delicious meal, and all of us got a togo-box.
Friday morning at 9:30 a.m., remaining members met up at the heated shed for
another potluck breakfast from the leftovers then sat around enjoying the good
fellowship and telling more stories.
I want to again remind everyone that we have a permanent change of address. You will always be able to reach me by phone: Paulette 479-6447461 or Arnie 644-6492.
Later some packed up and headed home due to commitments; others paid for
another night because they didn’t want to pack up and dump in the rain. Late
Friday afternoon those left drove into Sallisaw to Braums for a tasty treat.
Please use the AR mailing address (P.O. Box 653, Lowell, AR 72745) for the
May and June issues of the newsletter or send me an email with your articles
(redhead.smith2002@gmail.com).
Saturday the rest of us packed up and headed home until the next campout.
Deadline each month is the 25th.

QUEEN WILHELMINA GOOD SAMS
The Queen Wilhelmina Good Sams camped at Lake Fort Smith State Park, March 17-20, 2015. This was the first time that
this group had camped at this Park. The Park is beautiful with panoramic views of the mountains and lake. Three couples
traveled this trip.
The three couples went to Ft. Smith and Alma shopping. A to Z in Alma was visited two days. Wingo Johnson took Pat Johnson, Carolyn Wood, and Bettie Montgomery to A to Z the second day. Such bargains they “thought” they got. So many neat
things were available.
The crew met on Tuesday night at the Wood’s rig for hot dogs and Pat Johnson had Cream Cheese Pecan Pie squares for
dessert. This was her first time to make this recipe and it was deemed a success. Wednesday, with liquid sunshine falling,
found them at Wingo and Pat Johnson’s rig eating steaks. Everyone was thankful for having a place to eat inside as it was
also cold. Thursday after the business meeting, the group went to Alma to Merle’s Steakhouse for dinner. We were joined
by Jill Mouring, Jim and Betty Montgomery’s daughter. Also Glenna, one of the owners, came to visit. She and husband,
Merle, have a daughter who is married to Jim and Bettie Montgomery’s grandson.
The Queen Wilhelmina Good Sams will camp at Blue Mountain, Waveland Park, the first week of April. At this time, Wingo
and Pat Johnson will be serving as Park Host at Lake Catherine State Park. We will have two rigs represent us at the Samboree.
Other campouts are scheduled for Crater of Diamonds, Lake Catherine, Beaver Lake, Branson, Bull Shoals, Aux Arc, and
Greer’s Ferry.
Happy Trails,
Pat Johnson, QWGS Secretary
ROCK CITY SAMS
Rock City Sams’ March campout was held March 12-15 at J & J RV Park in Hot Springs, AR. Only five rigs made the campout, but more
members made the meeting on Saturday morning, and stayed for the sewing afterwards.
Roger and Linda Robbins served as campout hosts for March and organized a potluck for Friday night. Roger’s smoked chicken was a big
hit. I had a taste of the leftovers at Saturday’s lunch, after the meeting, and can attest to the finger-licking goodness. Peggy and Bob Bundy stopped by for the potluck on Friday night. They are considering joining our chapter. They intended to camp, but soggy ground did not
allow them to get the RV out without damaging the lawn. They’ll be back in the future. Two couples joined our chapter during the meeting.
We’re happy to welcome Cindy and Ed Cones of Little Rock, and Fran and Manny Werfelmann of Hot Springs Village. Oh, boy! New talent
to tap!
Speaking of talent, after the meeting the ladies of the chapter got busy sewing. Project Planner, Ann Scott, organized materials, tools, and
talent for making post-surgery comfort pillows and teaching dolls for Arkansas Children’s’ Hospital. The ladies quickly set up an informal
assembly line and knocked out 75 pillows and 26 dolls. All agreed, many hands make light work, and a fun time.
Rock City Sams’ members are making plans to attend the Samboree in Texarkana in April and Area 6 Friendship in North Little Rock in May.

GOOD SAM MALLARDS
(This is the Mallards’ take on the Area 4 Friendship!)
Our first campout for 2015 was held at Pecan Grove March 11-14, which was the Area 4 Friendship. Although
only 5 Mallards were in attendance; we made up in enthusiasm what we lacked in numbers. Even the rain and
muddy grounds didn’t slow us down.
Shirley Blackwell presided over our short official chapter meeting between activities. Martha Hosto sent word
that our April campout will be at Willow Beach April 9-11. We voted to give 2 $10 door prizes for the April Samboree. We learned that next year’s Friendship will be at the same place, but on May 4-5-6 instead of in March.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned so we could get back to partying!
The Friendship was full of activities for everyone. Wednesday opened with the outdoor games of washer toss
and poor man’s golf. After a great dinner of fried fish, fries and slaw furnished by our hosts J.D. and Lawrence
Henley, it was time for beanbag baseball: Dave Murray scored one of only three home runs, while the other
team was scoreless! We even had enough energy to play a few hands of SkipBo before it was time for lights out.
Thursday, in spite of the rain, we played the indoor game tournaments, which found the Mallards earning quite a
few awards in SkipBo, Sequence and Hand & Foot. But no Mallard won in the dominoes tournament; we needed
some Hostos. That evening everyone was treated to a great meal by the campground owners. We again had
desserts from all the Friendship participants. And, there was time for more games (just for fun) after dinner.
Friday we were treated to a great pancake and sausage breakfast by the Henleys with chef duties by Tommy
Blackwell and others. It was really great and kept our minds off the on-again, off-again rains. That afternoon
was the always amusing Chinese Auction. Friday evening was the pot luck followed by the skit presentations.
The Mallards won second place with our skit, “A Sign from God” which brought lots of laughs from the audience.
Saturday after an egg casserole breakfast that was delicious we had a short gospel singing and devotions.
Then it was time to pack up and head for home.! All in all, it was great to get the camper on the road after a long
winter. It was also relaxing to sit around that nice warm wood stove and visit with so many old friends again,
especially if you got one of those comfortable rockers. THANK YOU again to J.D. and Lawrence Henley for another SUPER FRIENDSHIP!

Seeking SINGLE
Travelers!
This year at the Samboree, the singles will have a
luncheon to attend that will be held on the
grounds. (That means no one will need to find a
ride to a restaurant that is hard to find.)
Plan
your schedule to enjoy a free light lunch with
dessert, "entertainment" and time to exchange
stories with other single travelers.
Look for the
time and location in your Samboree schedule so
you will not be left out.

"What is Katy up to this year?"
Thundering Sams has chosen "Rock and
Roll Through the Years" as their theme for
the upcoming Samboree.
To go with their theme, on Friday afternoon, we will be having "Fun and Games
Through The Years". In addition to some
of the board games that you and your kids
probably played in your camper
(remember Hi-Ho Cherry-O), we will have
such things as a Hula Hoop contest and
Bubble Gum blowing; and if you have a Yo
-Yo, please bring it.
We would also like to see what you and
your camper looked like "through the
years" with a photo display....so dig back
through your pictures and scrapbooks and
bring us a picture of you and your camper
in the past. If you're tech savvy and can
get it enlarged a bit and stick it in a frame
that will stand on a table, it will help.
AND, we will be having a Costume Contest
this year, “Through the Years” covers
flapper days to the present with cell
phones stuck in our ear! So get out your
poodle skirt, Nehru jacket, bell bottom
jeans & hippie beads, flapper dress, big
shoulder pads or your polyester leisure
suit! It will be fun to see what we all wore
during our ‘hay days.’

WHIISPERING PINES TRAVELERS
Whispering Pines Travelers meeting held at Western Sizzler in
Jacksonville, AR. Meeting was called to order by President
Tom VanHoveln. Tom led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Brother Ben gave a pray for the meeting. Tom introduced our
guest James Daugherty who wished to join our chapter; so we
voted him in as our member!
Roll call with the new member told us we had 13 rigs present
counting the Lomax’s who were park hosting. Minutes were
read and accepted as read; the Treasurer’s report was read
and accepted as read.
Lisa gave us an update us on plans for the Christmas Party.
Some wanted to change the time to 5 pm so Lisa is going to
check this out. The time will be finalized at the next meeting;
the price will be $30.00/couple. These arrangements were
voted on and passed: Cheryl’s Diner in Cabot December 18th.
We will be selling 50/50 tickets at the Samboree so we can
give more to our charities which will be the same charities as
last year: Open Arms and Camp Sunshine. We also need
some volunteers to man the table at the Samboree to sell tickets. The drawing will be on Saturday evening. The meeting
for April will be11:45 am on Friday after you pick up ice cream.
Meeting will follow.
Wagon Master Notes -- April 15-19 Samboree; May 14-17 Area
6 Friendship, North Little Rock River Front RV Park. (There
are a few sites left.) June 10-14 Grove, OK (you need to get

July 21-26 Mt. View (have to make your reservations with Mt
View RV Park 1-870-269-3758). September 16-20 Petti Jean
State Park. Duke said they have another group that same
weekend so everyone needs to make their reservations ASAP!
The 50/50 was $23.00 and won by Phyllis Plunk.
Meeting was adjourned with 1st by Duke Monroe and seconded
by Ed Jette.

AREA 4 FRIENDSHIP IS ENJOYED BY MANY…….
A huge thank you to all those who braved the rain and came to
the Friendship. We considered adding a game of Mud Wrestling
but everyone said their rigs were already too muddy! There were
23 rigs plus one couple in a motel and two walk-ins.
Everyone seemed to have a great time though sloshing through
mud. It is always a good time gathering around the big pot-bellied
stove for visiting. There were several absent couples who were
certainly missed.
Wednesday night Lawrence and JD furnished the meal of fish,
French fries and coleslaw. A special thanks to Tommy Blackwell
and Tommy Ferrell for cooking. Thursday night the Bunkers
served a good meal of pork loin. Friday morning was the third
free meal for the week of sausage and pancakes. Friday night was
potluck; and, oh, there was so much food served up! Just trying
to get a bite of each item made for a huge plate (but many of us
tried). Desserts all 3 nights were scrumptious and got gobbled
down.
Game competition was heavy and the games were played with
enthusiasm. Out of 42 attendees 33 played at least one game
(many played all). Game winners are named separately. Check
out the results on page 5 of this newsletter. We were honored to
have several special guests: Bill & Dee Nery, State Directors; Pat
& Paul Smith, Area 2 ASD’s; Tom & Shirley Blackwell, Past State
Director and Area 4 ASD; and James Stinson, Area 4’s First ASD.
Big Pines set up the Chinese and Silent Auctions. Thanks to all
those who bought tickets or made bids which brought in $518.
There were two skits for Friday night. Those who missed the Mallards’ “floozy” with her “drunk” and Rough n’ Ready’s “George
Burns/Gracie Allen” need to check it out next year. Saturday
morning Jack & Joy Godwin treated all to a breakfast casserole.
Afterward hymns were sung and Ray Williford gave an inspirational devotion and sent all to pack up with a prayer for safe journeys.

Camping World was on the grounds at the AR Good Sam Spring Samboree and provided invaluable support with
seminars, RV’s on display, a well-stocked booth on the arena floor, and a complement of staff from the North Little
Rock store that included a mechanic whose calendar was full every day of the Samboree.
Samboree attendees made good use of the expertise brought to them by the associates attending the Samboree:
