Welcome to
the Sale!
Randy and Kelly Owen
A very special welcome to everyone attending
Dixieland Delight: Red, White and Black. is is our
32nd production sale at Tennessee River Music. We
thank all of our previous customers for making all of this
possible. As I drove around the ranch this morning, I had
a very special feeling of thankfulness as I watched the sun
piercing through the early morning fog; so many
beautiful moments happen here on Lookout Mountain around Little River Canyon—especially
during calving time in the spring and the fall foliage times.
We have been very fortunate from the very beginning to operate Tennessee River Music debt free,
and my dreams are that that will continue with Randa and John at the helm. I am very grateful
to have a wonderful family that supports one another; especially children that support each
other’s dreams. ey look like me, but the best breeding comes from their mother. I truly thank
Kelly for loving me and caring about a sharecropper boy’s dreams of doing what the dreams of his
grandfathers and his father would have thought to be impossible.
Your time is very valuable, I truly understand that. We want you to come to Dixieland Delight,
enjoy the fellowship, and become a repeat customer or a new customer. ank you for your
interest in what we’ve been doing since 1981.
God Bless,
Randy Owen
Since 1981
DIXIELAND DELIGHT RED, WHITE & BLACK ANGUS & HEREFORD PRODUCTION SALE
We are thrilled to welcome you to our Dixieland Delight:
Red, White and Black Angus and Hereford Production Sale.
We feel the cattle offering this year is one of those “we hate to
see them go” kind of sales. ese cattle have been years in the
making and something that we are very proud to offer to you.
Not a day goes by that we aren’t out in the pasture with these
cattle…checking, critiquing, and figuring out what we can
improve on and do a better job at. All of the hard work
throughout the year leads up to this one day to showcase to you
what we are all about here at TRM, and we are delighted with
this year’s offering. e bull calves this year are as stout a set as
John, Randa and Harper Starnes
we’ve ever had here at the ranch with tremendous eye appeal,
bone, phenotype and balanced EPDs. And the heifer calves are something to see! Whether you’re in the market
for a show heifer, future donor or powerhouse cow, these heifers can pretty much do it all. Juniors, be sure to
check out our Junior Incentive Program!
We would like to thank our parents for mentoring us and allowing us to follow our lifelong dreams of raising
cattle. We know that none of this would be possible without them and their unconditional love and support of
us and our family. Whether it be watching Harper during the late nights at the show barn and weekend cattle
sale trips, or offering sound advice on ranch decisions, we are forever grateful.
We are truly humbled and blessed to do what we love every day, and we say thank you to our past, present and
future customers who believe in our program.
Please come join us and bring your family for the weekend of May 2nd. Cattle will be available for viewing
anytime leading up to the sale, so feel free to stop by or give us a call with any questions you might have.
With much appreciation,
John and Randa Starnes

Welcome to the 32nd Annual Dixieland Delight Sale
incorporated
at Tennessee River Music, Inc. e 2015 TRM sale
again features the best of both breeds here at TRM, and I hope you will join us for this
“Red, White and Black” Event.
I would first like to thank Randy, Kelly, John, Randa and the rest of the TRM crew for
allowing me, along with Jeremy Haag, to assist them in the marketing of this exceptional
set of cattle. John and Randa have embraced their role as parents to Harper and their
management role here at TRM, and with the help of their crew have again assembled
a tremendous offering.
Like every year, the quality in this sale runs deep. TRM has assembled a sound, functional
set of cattle that excel in phenotype and individual performance while maintaining a strong
genetic base with numerical balance and diversity. Whether you are simply adding to your
herd, seeking a donor dam or junior herd sire, or you’re looking for your next show ring
champion, you will find it among this exceptional offering. In the past four Junior National
Hereford shows, Tennessee River Music, Inc. has produced four division champions and five
class winners along with a host of other heifers that have been toward the top of their classes;
I feel like this set of heifer calves is the most impressive to date in terms of offering show ring
and donor potential. TRM also produced a division champion at Louisville and Denver and
the Champion Horned Heifer at the Southwest Regional Show from last year’s sale.
For those of you who have not attended a TRM sale, you are in for a real treat. is is a
family operation, and the hospitality and entertainment extended by the Owen family are
like no other. ey work very hard on the presentation of the cattle, and you are sure to
appreciate their efforts once you lay eyes on this exceptional offering.
Please evaluate the needs of your operation and plan to join us on Friday, May 1, to preview
the cattle and on Saturday, May 2, for this great event. Please do not hesitate to call me with
any questions on either breed or if I can help you in any way.
Sincerely,
Matt Sims

• SELLING THE RIGHT TO FLUSH 2447 TO THE BULL OF THE BUYER’S CHOICE.
• The incredible journey of this outstanding Hereford female from Idaho to Fort Payne began in
the picture pen at Shaw Cattle Co. last year. After photographing 2447, I took out my phone
and began to video her as she walked around the pen. Sam and Ron asked me what I was doing,
and I said, “Guys, this one is really good!” Sam asked, “How good?,” to which I replied, “I could
take her and win the last division at the Junior National with her.” That quick video I took soon
circulated and made 2447 one of the most talked-about donor prospects to sell last spring.
When Josh Taylor saw her in the flesh, his comment was, “This is one you could build a program around.” Josh was the contending bidder for Rafter J Cattle and their partner when 2447
topped the Inaugural Shaw Female Sale at $43,000.
• From the time Randa saw the photo and video of “Thor,” she said she was coming to TRM, and
I have found that once she makes her mind up, it’s a little hard to talk her out of something (just
ask John). Like it was destined to happen, 2447 arrived in Fort Payne, spent a day under a fan
in the barn, got introduced to a halter and show stick on day two, and made a trip to the wash
rack on day three—after never having been out of the pasture before. She immediately took to
the new lifestyle of being a show heifer and soon made my prediction a reality when she was
named Division IX Champion at the 2014 JNHE. Since that brief time as a show heifer, “Thor”
has continued to blossom into a prototypical two-year-old that displays a beautiful udder and
maintains the outstanding phenotype that took her to the backdrop in Harrisburg.
• This well-balanced young donor blends width and shape into a feminine, broody package. Her
center body dimension and length of spine are also enhanced by her ease of movement, as she
is a good structured female with flexibility off both ends.
• 2447 ranks in the top 1% of the Hereford breed for CEM, SC, BMI, BII; top 5% CEZ; top 10% REA;
top 15% Marbling and CHB.
• 2447 is open and ready to flush.
TERMS OF LOT 1 FLUSH
Selling the right to flush 2447 to the bull of the buyer’s choice to result in a guaranteed
minimum of at least six embryos, with all of the embryos produced going to the buyer
at the bid price. Semen and all other costs associated with the flush are the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer may choose conventional or IVF flush method.

• SELLING CHOICE OF THESE TWO FLUSH SISTERS BY THE POPULAR 88X AND OUT OF ONE OF THE
TOP YOUNG DONORS AT TRM.
• Lots 2A and 2B have been favorites at TRM since birth. Their powerful build and body type are in high
demand by today’s judges while also offering style and balance in a complete package. They are stout,
thick made females whose width advantages start at their base and maintain to the top side of their
skeleton. We can’t decide which one is better, so maybe you can.
• The dam of these two heifers has also been impressive since birth. She was one that we had to keep
our hands on, as she is a fourth-generation TRM female and a flat good one at that! She recorded an
individual WW ratio of 122 and YW ratio of 105.
• 4091 and 4094 rank in the breed’s top 5% for Milk and M&G and top 15% for WW.
• Don’t miss the opportunity to add one of these impressive young show and donor prospects to your
show string or operation. Flush brothers sell as Lots 3A and 3B.

• If you came to TRM in search of your next herd sire, be sure to check out this pair of flush brothers.
• Their sire, NJW 98S R117 Ribeye 88X ET, is one of the top sires in the breed. Few Hereford sires
have done what 88X did in his first calf crop. 88X was used heavily as a heifer bull with no calving
problems. His calves display rapid growth and a super muscle pattern. His first 93 calves had an average birth ratio of 98.3. His first set of calves weaned at 102.2. You couldn't write a better set of
curve-bending EPDs. Top 15% in the nation for Birth and Yearling, top 10% for Weaning and Marbling
and top 5% for Milk. 88X is the sire of C Miles McKee 2103 ET, the world record-selling bull at
$600,000 who at the 2014 NWSS was selected Grand Champion Bull and Supreme Champion Hereford. Paternal sibs to Lots 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B and 4 include: 2012 Western Nugget National Grand Champion Horned Bull, 2012 Western Nugget National Reserve Grand Champion Polled Female, 2012
Western Nugget National Reserve Grand Champion Horned Female, 2013 National Western Grand

Grand Champion Horned Bull, 2013 Western Nugget National Reserve Grand Champion Horned Bull,
2013 Western Nugget National Reserve Grand Champion Horned Female, 2013 Western Nugget National Champion Get of Sire and numerous other division champions and reserves.
• The bottom side of theses bulls’ pedigree is equally impressive, with a dam that posted individual
performance ratios of 122 for WW and 105 for YW.
• While these bulls are unique, both Lots 3A and 3B are enormous in terms of rib shape, stoutness of
bone and overall width and dimension. Coupling all this on a sound structural base, both bulls should
add value to any operation. Your choice.

• The $40,000-valued and now-deceased dam of Lot 4, TRM Cowgirl 8066, was one of the best Wrangler 19D daughters in the breed. She originated in the TRM program and was purchased by Star
Lake. When she became a mother, TRM purchased 1/2 back for their program, and in the Star Lake
dispersion, Bushy Park Farms became their partner on this great female. Taken before her time,
Cowgirl had the looks, the udder and the genetics to become a foundation female of her own cow
family and is proving that fact with her progeny.
• This daughter of the legendary Cowgirl offers balance and eye appeal without sacrificing power. Her
added dimension and broodiness suggest long-term value and true return on investment. Whether
heading to the show ring, enhancing your herd’s visual quality, or adding to your donor pen, here is
a female you don’t want to miss.
• A maternal sister sold in the 2014 Dixieland Delight for $6,000 to Express Ranches, Oklahoma, and
in turn produced one of the featured Hereford heifers in their 2015 Honor Roll Sale.
• 4162 ranks in the top 5% Milk, M&G; top 10% CHB; top 15% CED, WW.

champion at the Junior National Hereford Expo, Grand Champion at the 2012 Tulsa State Fair and Oklahoma State Fair, Reserve Grand Champion at the 2013 Oklahoma Youth Expo and Reserve Division
Champion at the 2013 Denver and Fort Worth national shows.
• Their dam, Molly, has been a consistent donor in the TRM herd. Molly was one of Randa’s most competitive show heifers, winning her division at the National Western and the Junior National Hereford
Expo. She records 4 at 100.5 for WW ratio.
• Thick, stout and powerful are the basics of these flush mates’ build. They are wide based, heavy
boned, big hipped and powerfully constructed while still offering the body type and functional traits
needed to be a high quality donor cow or herd sire option. It is rare that you find individuals that display this level of muscularity that have the length of neck needed to find the backdrop.
• Rank in the top 15% for REA EPD.

• The flush sibs selling as Lots 7, 8A and 8B are out of one of the up-and-coming young donors at TRM,
Lady 1054. The pedigree of these sibs is packed with maternal giants like Bright Future, P606, Lookout Mountain, 5076 and one of if not the most prolific Trask-bred cow, 8128. 8128 is 17 years old,
still in the pasture at TRM and will be forever. She is Randy’s favorite cow, and now her daughter Lady
1054 is starting to take that place. These cattle flat get it done!
• If you are looking for a donor prospect to enhance udder quality and functional traits or a herd bull
to sire a set of daughters to put back in your replacement herd, these sibs will fit the bill.

• The flush mates selling as Lots 9A, 9B and 10 descend from the famed Rockin Erica 38F that bred
so well for Star Lake and others. Their dam, 0019, and her daughter 47Z sold to Mead Enterprises
for $17,500 in a Star Lake sale, and these ET calves are the result of embryos purchased from Mead.
A maternal sister to Lots 9A, 9B and 10 sold for $10,000 to Copper Creek Ranch in British Columbia, Canada. The Rockin Erica family has become famous for blending power and phenotype with maternal strength…these top prospects should be no exception.

• Here is one of the first daughters born at TRM out of the most powerful daughter of Git-R-Done we

second top-selling lot of the 2014 Shaw Cattle Co. Female Sale, where full sib embryos sold for
$1,400 each to GKB Cattle.
• The dam of Lot 11, 94X, is a full sister to the dam of the Champion Heifer at the 2013 Western Nugget
at Reno, exhibited by the Holt Family. The dam of 94X, Mirada 61N, was a prolific donor at Split Butte
and Pelton whose dam, Fergs Pride, was a foundation donor at Split Butte and later a $27,000 donor
at Star Lake.
• If you are looking for your next show heifer, donor candidate or a foundation female in your herd, Lot

• This beautiful four-year-old and her heifer calf by Durango are a favorite around the ranch and for good
reason. You will love the teat size and udder conformation of Tah-Dah along with her flawless phenotype. This young girl has turned into quite the cow! We’ve been keeping an eye on her ever since
she was a first-calf heifer, calving at 21 months, doing a fantastic job and never missing a beat.

• This heifer is so elegant and smooth in the way she is put together, it just makes you think the words
“show heifer” and “breeding piece.” She has all the features to make her a competitive female down
the stretch as well. She’s great on the move, very feminine fronted and great on the side profile. We
think this one has the potential to be special.

• We could write a book about 4264 and the impact she’s had at TRM! She is what breeding Hereford
cattle is all about, and we owe so much of our progress to this donor. Just last year, her natural bull
calf sold for $7,250 at the Kempfer Bull Sale in Florida. 4264 is another excellent example of a natural calf from TRM donor 8128, going back to the legendary Trask donor NT Sadie Boc FF.
• This proven female has been a top producer in the TRM herd and balances an average YW ratio of
101.8 on 5 calves with a progeny BW ratio of 93.6 on 7 progeny. Individually, 4264 posted a WW ratio
of 107, RE ratio of 103 and an IMF ratio of 118. To complement her outstanding production records,
Lot 23 offers a flawless phenotype accented by her freckled face and picture-perfect udder.
• 4264 is the dam of TRM 4246 Shop Girl 1009 ET, who was a JNHE division champion in 2011, a twotime JNHE class winner (2011 and 2012) and Champion Female at the 2011 State Fair of Oklahoma
for Jake and Evan Sims.
• Ranks in the top 5% for BW and top 15% for Marbling.

• If you’re looking for a bred heifer that can do it all, look no further than this young lady! The lead lot
in the bred heifer division is one we are extremely proud to offer. She exemplifies the blend of phenotype, production records and EPD profile that TRM is striving to produce.
• Bright Bliss traces back to four generations of cows here at the ranch, including her grandam, TRM
RRO Phillie 0002, Grand Champion Polled Hereford Female at the 2001 Junior National Hereford
Expo in Billings, MT. Phillie is still in the pasture at the age of 15, and we feel as though Bright Bliss
is right up there in the league with her.

om e Angus sale manager
Welcome to the 13th Annual Dixieland Delight Red, White and Black Angus & Hereford
Production Sale as the Tennessee River Music program presents their strongest offering ever.
Randy Owen and his family have put together an outstanding set of Angus genetics backed
by breed-leading cow families and the most prominent AI sires in the industry. ese cattle
excel in maternal traits, udder quality and overall structure and phenotype. Whether you are
looking for a powerful cow/calf pair, elite bred heifer or new foundation donor, you are sure
to find what you are looking for. A tremendous set of replacement quality females and show
heifer prospects sells! ey are truly the front pasture kind and represent an unlimited
opportunity to take any seedstock program to the next level.
In this year’s event, there is a numerous array of tremendous females selling along with
herd sire prospects and elite donors. Our featured bull, TRM Dixieland 4080, is one of the
outstanding young herd sires ever produced in the TRM program and is by SAV Brilliance
8077 back to one of their foundation Evergreen donor females. TRM Dixieland 4080 is a
deep, soggy, stout-made individual with tremendous phenotype and added calving-ease and
growth genetics. He has been leased to the Lookout Mountain Genetics AI stud and is a bull
that offers tremendous seedstock potential.
Another feature in this year’s sale includes a daughter of the foundation Henrietta Pride
female of the TRM program, PF 5682 Henrietta Pride 0533, and sired by Baldridge Waylon
W34. e Henrietta Pride family has established itself as one of the hottest, strongest
maternal lineages in our industry, and this heifer calf offers a tremendous upside as one of the
very best to sell this spring. Our next feature is the featured Lot 102, who is a powerhouse
donor female that has exquisite phenotype and is a daughter of SAV Bismarck 5682 back to a
daughter of Mytty In Focus. She not only reads with tremendous phenotype but has an EPD
profile that is second to none. She has the ability to be used in all kinds of seedstock facets.
Please plan now to be with us at Tennessee River Music on Saturday, May 2, 2015 for this
special event. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the farm or myself,
Jeremy Haag, at (816) 516-1309.

DIXIELAND DELIGHT RED, WHITE & BLACK ANGUS & HEREFORD PRODUCTION SALE
Junior Incentive
Program
e love of the cattle and the excitement they bring to our hearts keep us optimistic toward the
future. Our goal is pretty simple: To consistently breed industry leading, quality cattle and treat
our customers the way we wish to be treated.
Here at TRM, we believe the future of our industry lies within the youth who are interested in
livestock. e juniors who are involved today will be the ones responsible for taking us into the
future. We want to contribute as much as we can to that cause, and we say “Go Get ’Em!”
Grand Champion Heifer (JNHE or NJAS): $12,500 in cash + $12,500 in credit
toward the purchase of one TRM or RRO heifer the following year
= $25,000 total prize!
Reserve Grand Champion Heifer (JNHE or NJAS): $2,500 cash
Division Champion (JNHE or NJAS): $1,000 cash
Division Champion (other National Show): $750 cash
Grand Champion Heifer (State Livestock Shows): $500 cash
(In the event that your state has multiple state shows/preview shows, TRM will pay for one championship.)
• Prize money only pertains to the JNHE, NJAS, recognized national show and state livestock shows.
• e heifer must be a TRM or RRO heifer. e heifer cannot have the breeder listed as any other party.
• e heifer must be purchased private treaty or through the Dixieland Delight Production Sale.
• e heifer must be purchased in, and remain in, the same junior’s name who will be exhibiting the
heifer at the Junior National.
