The Precisions

Last summer’s courtyard concert was so memorable that
we’ve invited them back! Originally from the street corners of
Brooklyn, The Precisions hit the national record charts with their
1962 arrangement of George and Ira Gershwin’s “Someone to
Watch Over Me.” While under contract in the 1960s with Golden
Crest Records, The Precisions performed with top artists of the era
including Alan Freed, Murray the K, and the WABC “All Americans”
in appearances at the Brooklyn Fox, the New York Paramount, and
the legendary Apollo Theater. The group re-formed in 1996 with
members Phil Ferrito and Bob Falco (vocals), Al Frazia (bass &
vocals), Robbie Falco (drums), and Frankie Carr, former star of the
Broadway hit “Beatlemania.”

Do you like your music hot? Join us for
an evening of tasty mambos, cha-chas, and
jazzy charangas. Mambo Loco is a four-piece
Latin/Jazz group based on Long Island. Lead
vocalist and conga player Larry Belford has
performed with The Bad Street Boys, Grupo Fascinacion, Johnny
Pacheco, and Tito Puente. Bill Smith, on keyboard and vocals,
has performed with Monty Alexander, Blood Sweat & Tears, and
Dr. John. Puerto Rico native Alfredo Gonzalez on trombone, violin,
percussion and vocals, was a member of Orquesta Mulenze, and
performed in New York City with Manny Oquendo y Conjunto
Libre. Band leader Wayne Burgess, bass and vocals, has performed
with The Drifters, The Coasters, Johnny Martinez Orquesta, and
Billy Eckstine. Mambo Loco performs an impressive array of Latin
classics which originated in Puerto Rico and Cuba during the golden
age of the 1940s to the 1960s.

renovated Intrepid. Spanning four city blocks, this
historic attraction is enhanced by spectacular
interactive exhibits. We will enjoy lunch at the
Bossa Nova Restaurant and take an afternoon
stroll on the esplanade of Battery Park City.

Library Board Appoints New Director

Latin Percussionists
The Board of Trustees of the
Northport-East Northport Public Library
is pleased to announce the appointment
of Eileen Minogue as Library Director,
effective August 1.
Mrs. Minogue’s library career began
at the Queens Borough Public Library
where she began as a Page and eventually
became a Young Adult Librarian. In 1976
she joined the staff of the Northport-East
Northport Public Library as a Young Adult
and Audio-Visual Librarian. She was
appointed East Northport Branch Librarian
in 1980 and Assistant Director of the Library
in 1981. She has served in that capacity until now.
In addition to taking an active role in the construction
and renovation of two library buildings, Mrs. Minogue
administered personnel and human resources to the

cooperation with the Library, presents an
exhilarating and unique Latin percussion concert featuring Andrea Pryor de Manrique and Ingrid Gordon. Credits
for these dynamic performers include The Lion King on
Broadway, and Casa de las Trova in Santiago de Cuba.
This unique program will include Rumba Clave by
Roberto Vizcaino (Cuba) and Clash Music by Nicolaus
Huber (Germany) among others. A meet-the-artists

This practice test is 3.5 hours long and contains
representative sections from both exams. Students
receive feedback that compares their performance
on each of the test sections of the two exams.
This is a perfect opportunity to experience both
tests. Kaplan representatives will hold a seminar on
August 6 to explain test results of the SAT/ACT
combo practice test. Students will receive a comprehensive analysis of their individual performance on
the exam. It is strongly recommended that you attend

Mr. Peck, a Newbery award recipient, will be visiting middle school

of age story about a boy growing up during World War II.
It is a story that will have you laughing one minute and
tearing up the next. Even with the historical setting, it is a
story that teens can relate to today. The first ten registrants
