Originally from the street corners of Brooklyn, The Precisions hit the national record charts with their 1962 arrangement of George and Ira Gershwin’s “Someone to Watch Over Me.” While under contract in the 1960s with Golden Crest Records, The Precisions performed with top artists of the era including Alan Freed, Murray the K, and the WABC “All Americans” in appearances at the Brooklyn Fox, the New York Paramount, and the legendary Apollo Theater. Bill Smith, on keyboard and vocals, has performed with Monty Alexander, Blood Sweat & Tears, and Dr. John. (NENA067) - 7 - Library Board Appoints New Director Do-ing Music presents Latin Percussionists The Board of Trustees of the Northport-East Northport Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Eileen Minogue as Library Director, effective August 1. Mrs. Minogue’s library career began at the Queens Borough Public Library where she began as a Page and eventually became a Young Adult Librarian. In 1976 she joined the staff of the Northport-East Northport Public Library as a Young Adult and Audio-Visual Librarian. She was appointed East Northport Branch Librarian in 1980 and Assistant Director of the Library in 1981. She has served in that capacity until now. In addition to taking an active role in the construction and renovation of two library buildings, Mrs. Minogue administered personnel and human resources to the (N) Friday, July 24, 7:30 p.m. The Northport Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Library, presents an exhilarating and unique Latin percussion concert featuring Andrea Pryor de Manrique and Ingrid Gordon.
