The Pastor’s Corner
“God’s Blessings Are Upon His People”
Psalm 3:8 says of God, “Your blessing is upon Your people.” What observations
might we glean from this short biblical declaration? Several, in fact:
-He indeed has a people, and we need not ascend into heaven and examine the
decrees of God to discover who they are. The Bible is our book of life, and therein
the heirs of glory are written – if not by name, yet by character. “We are the

circumcision,” says the Apostle, “who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in
Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.” By the Scriptures let us judge
ourselves, and be anxious to ascertain whether we be among His people, for they
are the most important and enviable people on earth! They are commonly undistin-

to them that is never enjoyed in the comforts of others: “I will bless your bread and
your water” (Exodus 23:25).
-Upon their trials. As much blessing is upon their daily rod as their daily bread.
Without this our afflictions will do us no good, but with this divine favor they will
contribute to our salvation, and yield “the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those
that are exercised therewith” (Hebrews 12:11).

"Unwrapping God's Gift"
(continued from page 1)
-Upon their labors. “ You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands, and you shall be happy, and it shall be well
with you” (Psalm 128:2). Without this, in vain we arise early, and sit up late; it does not matter what we sow, if He
does not provide the increase. Gain will be futile, if we deposit it “into a bag with holes” (Haggai 1:6).
-Upon their families. The house of Obed Edom was blessed for the sake of the ark (1 Chronicles 13:14); the generation of the righteous shall be blessed (Psalm 112:2).
-Upon their souls. God’s people are blessed with light and liberty, strength and peace, and joy inexpressible and
full of glory! Indeed, they are blessed with “all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians
1:3).
O Christian, is this your experience? Does this describe the daily portion of your inheritance in Christ? Rejoice,
then, and be grateful; nothing can equal the blessing of God.
Grace and peace:
Pastor Rob
