on style, hair and make-up artist Shameela
presents a unique, alternative take on the
modern hijab option. Suitable both for brides who
wish to completely cover or partially cover – concealing
the hair with the neck jewellery on show – this step by
step general beauty guide achieves the delicate balance
between outer concealment and inner radiance. The
secret is in clever grooming with sleek, sophisticated
hair and immaculate make-up looks.
The hair is styled to fit smoothly under the headwear
which can be as transparent or as opaque as wished.
With the veil framing the face, the eyes command best
attention when coloured to look like beautiful jewels as
sparkling as the scarf embellishment.
‘Brides don’t need to compromise on their look, should

HAIR CARE: First, take Audrey Hepburn inspiration with a chic
beehive chignon. Hairpieces add height to a back-combed ponytail
smoothed back into a bun from a deep side sweep parting. Choose a
flat side decoration for the best finish beneath the interim scarf, below,
transparent or opaque as preferred.
AN IMMACULATE IMAGE: Right, a flawless effect here and throughout
is first achieved with Mac’s Primer, foundation in NC25 highlighter and
Lovejoy blusher, plus Clinique’s gentle light powder.
EYES BRIGHT: In Urban Decay’s Uzi over the lids, corners blended in
Idol Eyes, charcoal Pandemonium blending out and under, both by Mac,
with Ivory highlighter by Barry M and Guerlain’s liquid eye-liner.
LIPS: Understated, are lined in Bobbi Brown’s nude, glossed in YSL’s
Golden Pink.
