Beginning with the July/August 2009 issue, Xpress News will be delivered straight to your e-mail inbox. This will allow you to save Xpress News to your hard drive or desktop, forward it to your employees, and print as many copies as you like. Safety Moment: Driver Distraction All motorists can be distracted from the dangers of the road. Being distracted occurs when the driver pays attention to any other activity while driving. Follow these tips from Chevron’s Global Road Safety Week Web site regarding the types of driver distractions and how to deal with them. Page 2 Safety Moment: Driving Distractions - continued Driver distractions fall into four categories: JVisual – when the driver looks at something other than the road JAuditory – when the driver listens to something or someone while driving JCognitive – when the driver is thinking about something other than driving JBiomechanical - when the driver is doing something physical that is not related to driving Steps to avoid distractions: JRecognize what distracts you, and take steps to eliminate the distractions (i.e. eat before your trip, plan your route ahead of time, etc…) JConcentrate on driving JIf you need to do something distracting, find a safe place to pull over JUse technology sensibly, and have a passenger adjust the radio, the air conditioning or other driving comforts JTake a defensive driver training course Havoline® “Drive ‘Em Back to Your Store” Consumer Rebate Program Running August 1 – September 30, 2009, the popular “Drive ‘Em Back to Your Store” rebate promotion returns, and will allow your consumers to increase their rebate by purchasing more promoted products and deliver a rebate check to your customer that is made co-payable to your store. To allow ample time for you to enroll, the enrollment deadline has been extended to July 15, 2009. This promotion makes it possible for you to offer a “bounce-back” consumer rebate that will bring your customers back to your location to redeem their rebate check on a subsequent Xpress News May/June 2009 Page 3 Havoline® “Drive ‘Em Back to Your Store” Consumer Rebate Program - continued visit – without sacrificing your margins. Consumers can use the bounce back checks as payment for future qualifying Havoline and Chevron services. The products featured in this promotion include: Product Rebate Amount Havoline® Synthetic Oil Change Service $15* Havoline® High Mileage Oil Change Service $10* Havoline® Oil Change Service $5* Techron® Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner $3 *Only one oil change service can be claimed on a single rebate form The deadline for consumers to claim their rebates is October 31, 2009. The enrollment fee for the “Drive ‘Em Back to Your Store” promotion is $85 per location. The cost of the promotion materials can be automatically deducted from IAAP when you enroll. You can enroll by filling out the form, found on the Marketing>Promotions page of Chevron Business Point (businesspoint.chevron.com) or by visiting www. havolineinstpromo.com. Texaco Xpress Image Refresh Update Lube® The Texaco Xpress Lube® (TXL) Image Refresh program is underway at multiple pilot locations! Each participating location conducted customer surveys prior to the building redesigns, and will perform new customer surveys during the pilot program asking customers for their impressions of the new look. The refresh is designed to enable the TXL branded network of quick lubes to grow more effectively and profitably. The larger phased rollout to the remaining locations will be a two-year process beginning in 2010. The objective of this pilot project is to evaluate the best re-image options for our TXL locations by: J Refreshing the brand and physical site image to be more appealing to consumers JAligning the look and feel of TXL sites with the qualities embodied in the brand JImproving the legibility and street presence of the various elements of the TXL identity JEnhancing and updating the look and feel of key elements of the signage package Stay tuned for more details about the Image Refresh program. Page 4 Free Installation Tools with Qualifying Purchase of PRO-GARD® 2-Step Fuel System Cleaner Beginning July 15 through November 2, 2009 each Texaco Xpress Lube® and Havoline® Installer location can earn one set of PRO-GARD® 2-Step Fuel System Cleaner tools with each qualifying purchase. The qualifying purchase must be a 20 case of PRO-GARD 2-Step Fuel System Cleaner, and it must be made during the above timeframe. The claim deadline is November 30, 2009. Please find the claim form on the Marketing>Promotions page of Chevron Business Point (businesspoint.chevron.com). The form can also be linked to from a spotlight on the Marketing page of the Web site. You will find the mailing address and fax number to return your request for the PRO-GARD® 2-Step Fuel System Cleaner tools listed on the claim form. New Commercial On-Highway HeavyDuty Delo® Brochure Available to Order A new Commercial On-Highway Heavy-Duty Delo® brochure is available to order from the Fulfillment Center, and is posted on the Marketing>Sales Support Tools>Sales Toolkit page under the Commercial Automotive On-Highway section of Chevron Business Point (businesspoint.chevron.com). The new brochure highlights the use of ISOSYN® technology in Delo engine oils, gear lubricants, and transmission fluids which rival synthetic lubricants in critical performance tests. It also highlights Delo’s biodiesel compatibility and fuel economy capabilities, Delo’s compatibility with new 2010 engine technology and its full family of products. The Delo Warranty Plus should be used when selling and promoting The Delo® Performance Advantage™ and the Delo family of products for bumperto-bumper applications. This warranty applies to all Delo products, if sold individually and/or if sold as a product family.
