Original Title Heartless
All that you touch must wither, all
that you love must burn
The unusual sibling couple of
Sebastian and Sofie are cursed. In
order to stay alive they are forced to
suck life force from people around
them, just as a vampire sucks blood.
Sometimes they can’t control this
instinct desire to suck and the victim
risks going up in flames! Where Sofie
is the outgoing and somewhat cynical
of the two who does whatever’s
necessary to keep herself and
her brother alive, Sebastian is
burdened with guilt over the curse’s
consequences and costs.
In their search of answers on their
mysterious curse, they are lead to the
dark and traditional boarding school,
Ottmannsgård, and suddenly they find
themselves juggling between everyday
teen life and their curse.
As the season develops we are
introduced to a tragic 400 year-old
background story that may hold
the key to the siblings’ mysterious
curse. In their search of salvation,
Sebastian’s prior romantic view
on life turns to cynicism as he is
forced to leave the girl he loves to
keep her safe, whereas Sofie has to
deal with her emotions for the first
time, when she falls in love with the
superintendent’s daughter Emilie.
Heartless is a fantasy series the
content of which is variations on the
themes of “original sin” and
“young love”. The emotions associated
with unrequited love, passion, intrigue,
revenge, lust, the search for identity,
etc. should captivate the viewers
and make them identify with the
characters. They are what hold up the
dramatic arch of the season as well
as Sebastian og Sofie’s investigation
of their connection to Ottmannsgård.

Original Title Borgen
Government is a drama series about
the fight for political power – and
about the personal sacrifices and
consequences this has for those
involved on and behind the political
stage
The central figure is the 40-year-old
political leader Birgitte Nyborg, who
through her idealism and huge effort
secures her party a landslide victory
and thus faces the biggest challenge
of her life: How most effectively to
use the newly won seats, and how far
she is willing to go in order to gain as

much influence as possible. Privately,
Birgitte leads a happy family life with
her husband and two children. She is
a woman with a burning commitment,
a big heart and little time. Will she
be able to be a successful and
professional top politician and stay
true to herself at the same time?
Among the many important people
in Birgitte Nyborg’s professional life
is her media adviser, Kasper Juul,
who is one of the most talented in
the business. However, he is also a
cynic with no illusions, who needs
to start believing in the messages

which is his job to impart.
Another significant character is
Katrine Fønsmark: A political journalist
working for a large public service
television station. Her screen charm
and her ability to bring the debate
to the viewers’ eye level have quickly
earned her popularity and clout, but her
personal life is rootless and confused.
Government has a large gallery
of characters and deals with many
different aspects in the political, the
journalistic, and the private spheres.

the most advanced technology and
high-tech weapons. Called ”The Eagle”
for his unerring intuition, Hallgrimsson
exudes competence and selfassurance; but behind the dynamic
facade is a tormented personality...
Like the mythical figure of
Odysseus, Hallgrimsson is a seeker.
His travels throughout Scandinavia
and continental Europe lead him not
only to new dangers and deadly traps,
but also to anguishing confrontations
with his own past. Like Odysseus, he
too makes many detours as he tries
to elude his inner demons rather than
battle them and to postpone the end
of a journey that might hold nothing
but emptiness and despair.
As varied as the cases are the
international locations in Denmark,
Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Germany,
France, Russia and the Netherlands,
which give the series a truly
cosmopolitan air. Moreover, each
episode is given a special look and feel
through the use of a different film
director and director of photography.

A Christmas story for the
whole family
The leading characters of Christmas
Stars are three children: Sus, Bob
and Tom, who is a bit younger than
the others. The action starts when
Sus reluctantly ends up in Brorfelde,
a village deep in the country, because
her mum and dad have inherited a
poinsettia nursery. Sus soon finds a
friend in star-crazy Bob, a boy of her
own age whose mother disappeared
without trace seven years ago while
she was out star-gazing. Bob spends
all his time sneaking into the Brorfelde
observatory to study stars. The trio
is completed by Tom, a rascal who is
convinced that pixies are vampires.
One day Bob discovers a new star in
the sky and when three mysterious
astronomers with an overweening
interest in the new star suddenly put
in an appearance, the plot really takes
off.
In Christmas Stars we meet a
gallery of colourful personalities in
addition to the three leads, including
Bob’s former rock star dad, Big J,
who is struggling to pay the bills at
the rarely hired village hall while he
tries to put on a Christmas musical.

Dropping 4 tons of illegal weapons
over India can be a dangerous deed
Former British arms dealer and
ex-mercenary Peter Bleach is on a
mission to find the MI5 agent who
lied in court when Bleach was facing
a possible death sentence in India. On
his word, Bleach was convicted for
dropping 4 tons of weapons over the

In fact, Bleach was indeed part
of the weapons drop – but he was
working as an MI5 informer to catch
the mastermind behind it, the Danish
activist Niels Holck, who was also on
board the plane. As Niels Holck during
the night dramatically escape the
Indian police in Mumbai Airport where
the plane is detained, Peter Bleach is
left behind to pay the ultimate price.
Bleach is left to rot 8 years
in an Indian jail under horrible
circumstances before he managed to
prove his collaboration with the MI5.
When he is eventually released, he
embarks on a quest to find the British
agent who set him up.

Like many other countries, Denmark

Denmark has agreed to welcome 500

A nonfiction drama about nuclear
warfare at the hight of the cold war
The story of Lt. Colonel Stanislav E.
Petrov, formerly of the Soviet Army,
who held the fate of the world in his
hands for a few crucial minutes. When
an alarm went off indicating that five
American nuclear missiles had been
launched against the Soviet Union,
he followed his gut feeling and went
against orders, convincing the armed
forces that the threat was a false
alarm saving the world from a nuclear
holocaust.
Three decades later, after his
life has unraveled around him, his
contribution to the world today is
recognized, and he embarks on a
spectacular journey to save himself.
The Man Who Saved the World
seamlessly mixes fact and fiction
to create a historical thriller and
personal redemption story. This
unlikely real-life hero reminds us how
close we came to Apocalypse, and
what the loss of billions of lives looks
and feels like.
The Man Who Saved the World is an
epic tale about a man who is put to
the ultimate test, when he
has to make a decision that can
change our world forever.
In order to tell Stanislav’s story,
and to illustrate his hard-learned
philosophy, a philosophy which could
serve the world so well, the film
moves from documentary to fiction,
and from fiction to documentary. The
boundary between the two forms is
slowly erased as the film develops.

A Tool of War
Despite increasingly refined
technology mass rape as a tool
of war is used in modern combat.
25,000 – 40,000 women were victims
of mass rape during the Balkan war
1992-1995. When a woman is raped,
the entire family is affected for
generations to come. 20 years after
these crimes only very few cases of
war crimes of sexual violence have
been investigated and prosecuted.
For the women in the film the rapes
remain a heavy, dark shadow in their
lives enshrouded by taboo. For these
women legal justice is the only hope
to regain integrity and life. But justice
fails and betrays them all the way to
the International Criminal Court of
Justice (ICTY) in The Hague.
When the war ended, those
responsible were never sentenced,
Al-Shabaab, an Islamic terrorist
organization, to help obtain Islamic
rule in Somalia. The film gets close
to an otherwise impenetrable milieu,
the immigrants at the bottom of the
social hierarchy, where Al-Shabaab
is always feared − even at a great
distance.

the situation of the women raped in

find it hard to get on in life and regain

the war are at large, whereas the

This film takes us on a journey
into the new genetics of human
psychology and behavior. It takes the
format of a personal quest
Our main character, science
journalist Lone Frank, wants to
know how the advent of personal
genetics will change our individual
view of ourselves and affect our
understanding of human nature
– the understanding of your own
personality. Lone comes with a rather
disagreeable personality herself,
that has given her many problems
through life and she is determined
to change this personality – she
simply wants to become someone
else. To find out how to change, she
has herself psychologically tested
and she gets relevant genes mapped
out. Lone believes solely in biology and
therefore believes that the solution
lies in knowledge of your brain and
genes. She takes the viewer on a
scientific and philosophical journey to
the forefront of research into how
our genetic information shapes the
brain and mind and through that our
personality.

The rape case that shocked India and
the World
On December 16th 2012, Jyoti went
with a male friend to see ’Life of Pi’.
At 9pm, they boarded a public bus
to reach home. On the bus were 6
men: a driver, conductor, and 4 male
passengers. The men beat her friend
unconscious and gang raped her for
an hour as the bus rode round the
highways. After raping her, the men
shoved an iron rod into her vagina and
pulled her intestines out of her body.
The youngest of the rapists (17) put
his hand inside her and pulled out the
rest of her intestines.
The film examines the societal

women is so widespread. We follow

the women have to make a crucial
choice: The difficult and painful
decision of whether to keep their
child or give it up for adoption. A
decision strongly influenced by a huge
pressure from the outside world
where the disgrace of the family,
the reluctance of the boyfriend and
the disdain of Korean society have
a huge impact on the women’s final
decision. Ultimately the decision that
Joergen Lange Thomsen is a forensic
expert. His job is to examine the dead
and determine how they died. But one
day he is hired to solve a different
type of case: One that involves the
living. On behalf of a major human
rights organization he is to examine a
group of Iraqis to determine whether
they have been subjected to torture.
The case is of political importance
and Joergen’s conclusion may mean
that Denmark ends up in court on
trial for war crimes committed in Iraq.
Suddenly he faces a moral dilemma.
He needs to trust his knowledge of
human nature and deductive interview
methods as well as his own extensive
experience in being able to spot a
lie rather than relying on his usual
scientific approach. But years of
pioneering work in the field of human
rights cause Joergen to question

An ecological film for the 21st
century.
This is a film about the future of
our planet that turns the traditional
environmental documentary on its
head. Rather than looking at our
influence on the environment, it
examines the environment’s influence
on us.
Shot during a 16 day voyage on a tall
ship sailing around Norway’s remote
Arctic islands, the film chronicles the
work of 20 artists living aboard. A unique film about the life around
the Baltic Sea.
The Contemplator is a tribute to
one of the world’s most beautiful
areas, The Baltic Sea. It celebrates
the diversity and the richness of
the region, but it also shows how
fragile the ecosystem of the sea has
become. The Baltic Sea is a resource
that we are overusing to breaking
point in order to satisfy our human
needs.

The story of Indonesia’s Raja Ampat
Archipelago with remarkably diverse
coral reefs, mangroves and lush
groups of small islands brings us to a
moral and ethical crossroad: We can

back to freedom
Six million European Jews lost their
lives during World War II.
The Holocaust became the fate
of two European Jews out of every
three. After the Nazis assumed
power in Germany, their propaganda
of hate grew and culminated in the
worst genocide of the 20th Century.
Throughout German-occupied
Europe, Jews were deported to
Nazi concentration camps. But until
October 1943 Denmark remained an
exception.
The story of a man who has taught
himself the language and ways of
wolves, faced them in the wilderness
and witnessed their fates.
Seppo Ronkainen monitors wildlife
for a living and has dedicated his life
to the study of wolves in the wild. This
film is based on Ronkainen’s video
diaries, collected over the course of
13 years. Its unique material tells the
intertwining stories of man, wolves
and dogs.
