His poems and stories are alive with the heart and humor of life from a cowboy’s point of view. He can usually find the funny side of any situation, and is considered by many to be one of the finest humorists in the industry. Chris rodeo'd hard in the '60's and has cowboy'd all over the Southwest and was Cow Boss on the Flying Box Ranch for four years. A string of Pack Mules has followed him over many a trail from the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico to the high mountains of the Yosemite in California. He even admits to wrangling dudes for a while. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1964 to 1967 and he will be the first to tell you that there is no such thing as an ex-‐Marine (Simper Fi). He counts his family, his friends, his God and his country as his greatest blessings. Chris has been published in numerous magazines including American Cowboy, Western Horseman and Cowboy Magazine. He has three books of his work published, Bringing it Home , Rhymes & Reasons and From the War Bag. Rhymes & Reasons was nominated for the "Western Heritage Award" by the Cowboy Hall of Fame and winner of the "Will Rogers Medallion Award for Excellence" by the Academy of Western Artists. He also has five albums of his poetry recorded. His album "Both Sides" was voted "Poetry Album of the Year" for 1997, by the Academy of Western Artists. In 2002, his album "Out With the Crew" was voted the same honor. In 2005, Chris was the recipient of the Western Heritage Award by the Wickenburg, Arizona C of C, and the Gail I Gardner Award from the Arizona CPG. In 2009 he was inducted into the Arizona Culture Keepers. Chris makes his home in Eager, Arizona, with his wife, Helen. He and his sweetheart have been married since 1967 and are the proud parents of six kids and twenty-‐four grandkids.
