Exhibition: The Itinerary of Mobility and
Translation
June 27 – July 31
Gallery Korea of the Korean Cultural Service NY
Gallery Korea of Korean Cultural Service NY is pleased to present “The Itinerary
of Mobility and Translation” with Soocheon Jheon, Donghee Koo, Kenny
Kyungmi Kim, Zune Lee, Jong Oh, and Todd Holoubek. These Seoul and New
York based installation and media artists are inspired by certain concepts that
the visionary architectural group called Archigram originally raised in the 1960s:
mobility, expendability, and nomadic “instant” space. By approaching spatial
concepts in the light of constant fluidity and movement, the visionary designers
looked at the futuristic “walking cities” in the air much like science fiction
or cartoons, and break the concept of fixed space via movement. Space is
constantly expanded as real places are transformed into unreal or even surreal
spaces and new meanings are created via this spatial translation.

The NJ Paramus borough of
community hosts the festive
4th of July celebration at the
Westfield Garden State Plaza.
The community has welcomed the
Korean Traditional dance team of
Choomnoori to join the exciting
festivity. Through the great sound
and spirit of the Korean drums, the
resonance shall help to combine
the spirit of Independence and culture family gatherings.
In addition, on 4th of July from 9am to 12pm, Paramus 4th of July Parade is
held on Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ(Fairview Ave. & Century Road, heading
north up Farview Ave., to Memorial Elementary School on Midland Ave.). The
parade has been held for the past 10 years, hosting people from all over the
state and country. There will be more than 100 teams participating in the parade
this year including Korean traditional team of Choomnoori.

Paint.‘Be Infected with’ is presented by
SINAE Arts Management which is producing
the K-DANCE (Korean Wave) Performances
abroad. This piece, ‘Be Infected with’, contain
artistic qualities that transcend time and space
with Korean traditional paint. So the audience
may feel that they are in an art gallery. One of
the best dancers in Korea, Young il- Lee, will
show what K-Dance is through his dance and
choreography.

The Youth Symphony for United Nations
is a gathered sound of young musicians
united for peace and cultural exchange as a
means of promoting mutual understanding
in support of the UN goals. The purpose
of the 2012 festival is to bring together
young musicians from around the world
for a 1-week intensive and enriching music
program that provides all participants
the rare opportunity to unite through the
universal language of music, culminating
into a concert performance at the UN General Assembly Hall: “Voices of Youth”
during the Closing Ceremony of the 11th Youth Assembly at the United Nations.
This concert will be in support of the goals of the Annual Youth Assembly: youth
leadership as a means to success for the UNs 8 Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs) – as well as reinforcing the role of the artist in the goals of the UN.
YSUN was founded by Friendship Ambassadors Foundation Executive Director
Patrick Sciarratta and Artistic Director Yin-Chu Jou in 2006, and is led by noted
Conductor and Music Director, David Jeong.

of human emotions; Here NOW will weave
together panoramic video images, live
performance of an original composition for
guitars and electronics, and the fluid dramatic
movement of WHITE WAVE Young Soon

consists of 16 scenes that expresses human
emotions with solo, duet, trio and group
dance, extending and breaking barriers of
contemporary dance whose theme is love and
inner conflict.

New York Community Trust, Korean Cultural Service and the Ministry of Culture,

JULY 10 (Tues.) – SECRET LOVE (2012)
International Premier
Only two months after their storybook marriage,
beautiful young Yeon-Yi (YOON Jin-Seo)is suffering
through the repercussions of a tragic car accident that’s
placed her handsome new husband Jin-woo (Oldboy’s
YOO Ji-Tae) into a deep coma. Utterly destroyed, she
finds herself waiting at the airport for her husband’s
brother Jin-Ho, but, never having previously met, YeonYi shocked to discover that he and Jin-woo are identical
twins. Initially cold toward each other, the two soon fall
head-over-heels in forbidden love… and things become
even more problematic when Jin-woo suddenly
awakens from his coma.
Actress YOON Jin-Seo will introduce the film, and will participate in a Q&A
session following the feature.

When it opened in late 2011, Unbowed’s uninhabited
take on a highly-publicized true story caused such
a stir that Korea’s Ministry of Justice and Supreme
Court even chimed in, noting its wild inaccuracies. It
turns out that sensationalizing the story of university
professor who accosts a judge with a crossbow
doesn’t go over well with governmental bodies…
but thankfully, film fans love it, as this courtroom
thriller – buffeted by the media uproar – became one
of last year’s biggest Korean hits. AHN Sung-Ke, one
of his country’s most respected international actors,
delivers a bravado performance as the bow-slinging
everyman while R-Point’s Park Won-Sang delivers a
one-in-a-lifetime role as the struggling lawyer pushed to save him.
