The Middleton community

In 1856, the area was being
referred to as Middleton and
was officially platted. The village
officially became a city in 1963.

to T.T. Whittlesey, a member of Congress
and probate judge. (University Avenue was

Wolf House
Built in 1868. Saved from the 1900 fire by
putting carpets on the roof and soaking
them with water using a bucket brigade.
