The groups did landscaping work on the campus, light maintenance and painting at IABC, and learned more about Native culture. Indian Avenue church was full and the students has several wonderful conversations about Jesus. The last night there the groups grilled burgers and invited Haskell students to join them for the fellowship and good food. The week was full of serving others and serving God. Page 2 Bartholomew Baptist Association From Your Missionary... Easter has come and gone for another year. The crowds were up all over, which is great, but it is also sad that many will not be back until Christmas. Such is the state of the church in America. One of these days, God’s people will take their Christianity serious and look more like Christ than the world. The summer is fast approaching and mission trips are already in the planning stages. We will have church groups in and out of Kansas all summer long and we will have another group going to Central Europe to serve in Hungary and Croatia. Why not put on your traveling shoes and take a trip to serve the Lord in some way. It will do you good and you will be making a Kingdom difference while you are at it. Josh Gaskin took a group of students from Haskell and Indian Ave. Baptist church on a spring break mission trip the week before our group arrived in Lawrence. John shared the mission possibility with me and it sounded very promising. Talk to him while you are in Lawrence this summer and see if this is a possible mission partnership for us with Indian Ave. I made contact with a pastor and church in Weber Falls, KS, on my way home from Lawrence. Ron Neely told me about this church and the possibility of this being another partnership opportunity for our association. Ron and two of his men will be up there this mouth doing a revival and I will encourage you to talk with him about this partnership potential. Now, for the latest on our financial situation. Things are looking better as several churches responded to help ease us over the financial hump. We will be adjusting back on some things to reduce our budget requirements, so be prepared to discuss this issue at our next board meeting in May. God is good and we are truly blessed to be of service and to have a place to serve. Blessings, David O. Mitchell The HopePlace Baby Bottle Drive is fast approaching. It will start May 10th on Mother’s day and go through June 21st on Father’s day. Do grab a bottle, fill it up with loose change, and return it to either your church or HopePlace. Through these donations you can help HopePlace continue their ministry.
