First Thoughts…
This seems to be a good time to stop and
thank you for the very unusual and wonderful
welcome we have received at FBC. It has been
so encouraging to us as we put down roots
here to find your arms and hearts open to us.
It makes me even more sensitive to reaching
to folks who need to be a part of the
community we have here at FBC. I hope we
will look intentionally around us for
“strangers” who need to find a home. This
hospitality is an essential and wonderful part
of being God’s people.
I want you to pray about helping with a rather
unique and important part of our
congregational care. I have discovered we
have at least 45 people who are homebound
or fairly limited in their mobility. One of the
ways I would like to see our church respond
to that is to form a team of people who would
agree to visit a very small group (less than
three) of our homebound people, once a
month, for a year. This is a simple way to
make sure our church has a variety of
approaches (deacons, pastor, and this special
care team) to care for those who are shut in.
If you would be willing to serve in this way,
contact me or Terri Thomas and offer your
service. If you have questions about this,
please contact me. I see us beginning this
hands-on touch of care in October.
I look forward to seeing you on Sundays.
There are really good small groups in place
for Bible Study and friendship. Coffee
(sometimes chocolate scones!) greet people at
9:45. I think we have helpful and passionate
worship at 11. FBC is a really good place to be.

Dear Church Family,
The outpouring of love and compassion shown to our family during the
passing of our precious daughter, Angie, has been overwhelming. We thank
you for your prayer cards, during her long illness, sympathy cards, phone
calls, food, and flowers. They were all appreciated.
Pastor Brewer, Terri Thomas and the deacons were very supportive. We are so grateful to have such a
loving and caring church family. May God bless each of you.
In Christian Love,

The Little Dirt People: What it Means
to be Born Again by Tempe Brown was
placed in our library by Mr. & Mrs.
Ernie Sprouse in honor of their
grandchildren: Hannah, Katie, and
Abbie. Those who attended last
Wednesday’s prayer service heard Ms.
Brown’s personal testimony rendered in song and oftentimes humorous narrative. In addition to her spoken
witness of Christ’s gift of redemption, she wrote and
illustrated this appealing little book that explains the
plan of salvation. While The Little Dirt People is a
picture book, it has appeal for all ages.
