2015 Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant! Why Mont-Tremblant? • In 2 short years, the Mont-Tremblant Ironman and Ironman 70.3 have established themselves as among premier events on the Ironman Circuit. The Ironman has been selected as the North American Championship and the Ironman 70.3 was chosen as the new site for the Ironman 70.3 world championships. • Experienced in hosting world caliber events including ski/snowboard championships, MontTremblant is aggressively trying to establish itself as a mecca for outdoor activities year round. The entire region is supported by tourism and as such Ironman events have the support and backing of the entire population. • Last year's Ironman events had an approximate ratio of 1:1 for participants to volunteers! • Ironman branded events are recognized as being among the best, most well run, and competitive triathlons in the world. We want to allow Triad Triathlon Team members the opportunity to have the best, most memorable triathlon experience in a location that has adventure and fun for the entire family. • With it's "European flare", we believe that selecting the Mont-Tremblant Ironman 70.3 is the perfect way to combine your passion for triathlon with a vacation that the entire family will love. Ironman 70.3 Race Info • Date: June 21, 2015 • Registration opens XXX…. You WILL need to register as soon as it registration opens. This race sold out in less than 60 hours for 2014 • Cost: $225 ($330 Relays) • Avg High/Low: 75F / 50F The Swim Beach start into a clean, clear freshwater lake, with relatively calm waters at this time of the year; the average water temp. on race day…65F ! The swim exit has “wetsuit strippers” and requires a 1/4 mi jog into T1. The Bike Nature lovers will love this beautiful course! A rolling hills course with two notable ascents. One that has an elevation change of 360 ft with 6% grade and the other, a 330 ft elevation change with a grade of 12%. Bike course is 95% closed to other traffic and 70% newly paved! The Run The one loop, 13.1 mile run course takes you into the old village of Mont-Tremblant, onto an old railway bed transformed into a crushed gravel trail. Then back at the top of resort for an amazing spectator lined downhill sprint to a finish line surrounded by thousands of cheering spectators. Speed limits are stated in KPH. 100 Kph = 62 Mph • Sales Tax: 15%!!! • Gratuity: Follows same general conventions as in US. • Free refills don't generally exist but you can ask. Doggy bags are not regarded as very sophisticated. Things to know about Mont-Tremblant • Quebec is predominantly French speaking. However Mont-Tremblant locals will most likely speak or at least understand English. English will not be a problem in any "tourist" venue in Montreal. Here are a few useful sentences. As a place where both European and North American cultural influences play out, Québec has long been typified by an incredibly fertile creative energy and cultural vitality— as evidenced by its literature, theatrical productions, paintings, sculpture, and arts and crafts. ! ! ! How to get there? • Traveling to Mont-Tremblant is easy. • All major airlines will have flight options into Montreal or Ottawa both of which are less than 2 hours away from the resort. Best options will be Delta or United Airlines. • Traveling by car is approximately 950 miles via I-81. Where to stay? • Mont Tremblant is one of Quebec's premier ski resorts. The race takes place on the site of the Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort and hotels, condo/house rentals abound. • The village of Mont-Tremblant as well as the immediate adjacent towns have plenty of available rooms for all budgets.
