Brompton Cemetery Brompton Cemetery has been named one of the finest cemeteries in the country. It is managed by The Royal Parks and is one of seven large, cemeteries founded by private companies in the mid-19th century known as the 'Magnificent Seven'. Beatrix Potter, who lived nearby, took the names of many of her animal characters from the tombstones and it is said that Mr McGregor's walled garden was based on the colonnades.
