"Therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit will be
cut down and thrown into the fire." John the Baptist
meant business. He proclaimed a serious message of
change and conversion in words that, today, might earn
him the label of a "hellfire and brimstone" preacher. But
he was more than a preacher; he was a witness to
repentance. Indeed, he must have been a sight to behold
draped in his penitential garb, nibbling on his locusts and
honey. Anyone who heard him preaching must have
taken notice, even if they didn't take heed. If nothing else,
John the Baptist surely got people's attention.
But will he get ours? Because we've heard this story
before, we might be inclined to glaze over its inherent
drama. He urges us, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven
is at hand!" This is the moment! Now is the time! Advent
especially reminds us to examine our lives and renew our
commitment to Christ. As John the Baptist put it, we are
called to "produce good fruit as evidence" of our
repentance.
True conversion reveals itself outwardly. When our hearts
change, our actions do too. Charity replaces criticism.
Forgiveness replaces anger. Service replaces selfishness.
This marks the difference between a "tree" that is firmly
rooted in Christ, and one that's only good for a pile of
firewood. "Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees."
This Advent, may we feel the urgency of John's words
and get about the serious business of repentance.

Preparing for Christ
Advent Reflection Evening
It is easy to get caught up in the hectic preparation and
rush of the Christmas season. Advent is about taking the
time to meditate and reflect, requiring us to slow down, if
only for an evening. In the spirit
of the Advent season,
please join us on December 17th from 5:30 – 8:00 in the
church hall. We will share a meal and explore the topic,
“Joseph, dreamer, spouse & father”. For more
information please contact Jennyfher Briseno at
882-4362, or by email at faithdirector@stlouisnashua.org;
or email Rick Desmarais at deacon@stlouisnashua.org.
Mañanitas to Our Lady of Guadalupe
Come and join us to sing “Las Mañanitas” to Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, December 12th from 5:00am to 6:30am.
Refreshments will be served after the celebration in the Church Hall.

We Need Your Help at Christmas Masses
After each Christmas mass this year we will
be giving out copies of an inspirational book
about a couple's journey to a deeper
understanding of the Catholic faith. It is our
hope that this book will help anyone who
takes the time to read it, discover anew the rich heritage
that is our shared faith and more deeply appreciate the
wonder of this amazing gift of faith.
We would like to have at least three people available after
each mass to help distribute these books and extend warm
greetings to those who come to our parish for this special
Holy Day. There will be two masses on December 24th
(4:00-English & 7:00-Spanish) and two masses on
December 25th (Midnight Mass & 10:00-English).
If you are interested in helping after one of the masses,
please contact Susan Simard by email at
stlouisbiblestudies@gmail.com or call the rectory at
882-4362. Thank you!
No matter how we say it, we appreciate all you have
done this year to help our parish. Without your
generosity our mission would remain just a dream. Yet,
our mission is not complete and we can always use your
prayers and support. If you are planning to make
additional charitable gifts this year, consider our parish.
Also, please keep our parish in your prayers.

seguirlo no sería fácil.
¡Gracias!
