Show Highlights
Our second show! How exciting! It was
great to see so many of our friends and family there, and so many of our
first show patrons! It was great to shake the hands of everyone we could!
We were so excited to have the Channel 13 news come and film for their late night
news cast! You can see the clip on our website on the photo archive page for the
show! How exciting!
Lonesome County was our featured band
and everyone enjoyed their musical stylings
greatly. How can you not enjoy their work,
it’s good solid and enjoyable! Bluegrass
music at it’s best!
Bandura Bridge was a delight and it was
great to see our first homegrown pickers
grace the stage! Davey Moore Jr., hails
from the Bowling Green area and works
here in Toledo! The rest of the boys in the
Photos by Mike McGuffie and Sherri Chekal
band are well known in the Toledo circles and
it’s always a treat to see a young man in the
band, learning at the feet of his father, this
great traditional music we all love!
We look forward to our next show and
hearing more from all ranges of bluegrass
music today. The Glass City Opry hopes to
bring you the very best in bluegrass that we
can offer!

Meet the band...
Rock Bottom was formed by Simon Edwards and
myself as I was recovering from a severe hand injury
and Simon was waiting for a kidney transplant. I went
up to the hospital to see him and we were talking
about all the fun we had years a go when we played
together in different bands. We made a pact that as
soon as we were able, we would form a new band,
originally called Rock Bottom as that is where we
felt we were, at that time. The first big shows were
working with our friend Larry Cordle and we even played a show with him in his home town of Louisa KY.
Larry pointed out the inspirations for all the songs he had written. Many of the people he wrote songs about
were in the audience, he showed us the man “Hero of the Creek”, Highway 40 of “Highway 40 Blues” fame,
the “Fields of Home” and many others.
ROCK BOTTOM
MINING CO.
We eventually changed our name to the Rock
Bottom Mining Co. as there already was a
band called Rock Bottom and were lucky
enough to get our friends Harold Skidmore,
Scott Midgley and Jimmy Thompson to join
us. Jimmy has since left the band, but we still
are lucky enough to play music with him and
he is a close friend of band members. Simon
has played for many years, starting out with
LB Siller, he later formed a Gospel band called
Down Home Praise and has remained one
of the top bass players in the area. Harold
has played with some of the best musicians
in the world and it shows. He was a member
of Nitro Hill along with Scott and his rhythm
guitar work is hard to beat. Scott is one of the
most inovatatrive banjo players I have ever
heard and adds so much to our sound, whether it is a slow ballad or a driving traditional song. I have played
with many bands over the years and was lucky to get my start in 1984 with Conley Varble and Salt Creek.
We play a mixture of traditional and contemporary bluegrass and are really looking forward to playing such
a nice venue such as yours. Please feel free to edit and or fix this up as you see fit. We have played busy
schedules the last few years, but this is one of the few times we get to play close to home

HONI DEATON
We are SO excited to welcome our first national touring bluegrass band to the Glass City Opry!
Honi Deaton and Dream are coming to town December 10, 2007 and we need to make sure EVERYONE
comes out to welcome national acts to Toledo again! It’s been years since we had such an acclaimed band to
grace our region. No more driving an hour north to get great national bluegrass!
Passionate original lyrics and stunning bass playing punctuates Honi Deaton’s resonating, soulful voice. She
has been nominated twice for IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year. Honi is joined by the extroraordinary instrumental and vocal powers of husband Jeff Deaton on guitar, Josh Brooks on banjo, and Wayde Powell
on resonator guitar.. Honi Deaton and Dream’s music has it roots in Bluegrass and
Appalachia while it soars into Americana, Western Swing, Gospel and the Blues.
