0|Page CEO Message Our vision is to create a pioneering centre in the region for enabling innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property in ICT Small and Medium Enterprises and start-ups to thrive, expand and succeed. Since being inaugurated in 2010, Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) boosts innovation in ICT companies so as to contribute significantly to the national economy and compete in the global marketplace. TIEC launched a cluster of initiatives to recognize and establish the foundation of innovation and entrepreneurship, and empower business. Initiatives are identified by close collaboration with diverse stakeholders from NGOs, MNCs, donors, investors, universities, startups, etc. TIEC understands the power and value of tapping into the full spectrum of ideas and abilities that people possess that leads to true insights and innovative practices. The center invests money, technology and resources to support the growth of up-and-coming innovators, entrepreneurs as well as start-ups. In this sequence, TIEC promotes innovation culture among university graduates by organizing competitions that inject innovative ideas and talents into the ICT industry besides encouraging young people develop novel solutions compatible with current technologies and industries. Ibtiecar 2012 competition embodies the role of TIEC in bolstering and marketing university graduates’ innovative ideas to companies. Companies may incubate, develop and drive such ideas to higher maturity levels. Technology categories of Ibtiecar included software engineering, broadband, mobile applications, cloud computing, social networking, embedded systems, etc. TIEC embarks on a mission to position Egypt as a leading regional hub and world-class destination for ICT-based Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It charges 3 V Li-Ion batteries with maximum efficiency up to 91% and ± 0.5% final voltage error in 90 minutes charging time. This battery charger consumes less than 545 μW from 3.3 V supply. The chip area is 0.04 mm², not including the pass transistor, using 0.13 μm process technology. This linear battery charger uses constant current constant voltage charging profile. A digital controller is proposed for efficient transition between constant current and voltage modes. The charging profile is subjected to user specified timer module for protecting the battery from over or under charging. Supervisors: • Dr. Sameh Ibrahim • Dr. Mohamed El-Nozahi Team Member: 1. Eng. Together, they can be reprogrammed to support a large number of symbol domain algorithms, for several modes, in many standards. Through multiple innovations in the architecture, the building block supports this high flexibility while providing dedicated hardware- like performance. This can be used to design singlestandard wireless receivers with very short time to market, or it can be used to design reconfigurable receivers that support multiple standards with very low energy consumption. Novelty: Building a reconfigurable engine (ASIP) that support many communication systems without sacrificing the power and throughput. The design is modular and easy to expand to support future systems with higher throughput. Efficient implementation for FFT algorithm using CORDIC. Beneficiaries: Wireless transceiver designers(since the design delivers both programmability and performance, the design cycle can be dramatically shortened), Patients using telemedicine devices. Consumers (the design will leads to cheaper portable receivers and a much shorter time to market). Supervisors: • Dr. Omar Nasr • Dr. Karim Osama Team Member: 1. Ali Ahmed Seddiek 2. In the semiconductor industry, double patterning is the primary lithography technique introduced for the 32 nm node. As dimensions continue to shrink in the 14nm and below a need for a third mask is becoming essential, so triple patterning is a new trend that is needed in these submicron technologies to enable printing features in the 14nm and below on a 45nm node lithography process. Novelty: Considering run time complexity, TRIO is implemented, from scratch, with three various acceleration techniques so as to fasten polygons splitting. TRIO also adopted a novel splitting technique based on modifications of the SAT (Saturated Coloring) algorithm, and equal density distribution algorithm. Field/ Area: EDA/CAD Sponsor: Mentor Graphics Project Idea: Analog design is characterized by the large number of circuit specifications and corresponding large number of design parameters. Therefore, many tradeoffs exist in the design process. Our project is an EDA tool called TOAIC (Tradeoffs of Analog Integrated Circuits). TOAIC is a chart-based design environment that enables the designer to visually explore the important tradeoffs in analog designs which leads to better designs completed in less time. TOAIC is a web-based tool allowing designers to use the tool without installing any software. Novelty: • • • It’s A chart-based, web-based analog EDA tool. The tool was developed using open source programming languages and free license tools. The tool has a friendly GUI which makes it very easy to use. Analog Devices’ performance is impacted by other layout features located in near context. These layout effects can lead to catastrophic failures in analog circuits. The new introduced methodology helps Analog designers to determine the effect of layout interdependencies at early stages of the design by introducing a layout-aware schematic design level. Novelty: Allowing designers to access and analyze transistor nonidealities caused by neighboring devices and structures in the layout.
