ROMANIA România is a country of great natural beauty and diversity and a rich cultural heritage. Romania enchants visitors with its scenic mountain landscapes and unspoilt rural areas, but also with its historic cities and its busy capital. Over the last decade, it has seen significant development and is one of the most recent members of the European Union. Romania is famous for its Carpathian Mountains, Constantin Brancusi, wine, medieval fortresses, Mircea Eliade, Dacia cars, Dracula, stuffed cabbage leaves, Nadia Comaneci, the Black Sea, Gheorghe Hagi, sunflower fields, painted monasteries and the Danube Delta. Romania is a member of the Schengen Agreement but has not yet fully implemented it. For EU and EFTA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) citizens, an officially approved ID card (or a passport) is sufficient for entry. In no case will they need a visa for a stay of any length. Others will generally need a passport for entry. BUCHAREST Romania’s capital and biggest city is Bucharest, the 10th largest city in the EU. Bucharest has a four-season climate. In the spring, the weather can quickly alternate between rain and sunshine. June, July and August are the hottest months. Bucharest is the most important industrial and commercial center of the country. Bucharest is a booming city with many large infrastructure projects changing the old face of the city. Known in the past as “The Little Paris”, Bucharest has significantly changed lately, and today it has become a very interesting mix of old and modern that has little to do with its initial reputation. Finding a 300 year old church, a steel-and-glass office building and Communist-era apartment blocks next to one another is a common sight. Bucharest offers some excellent attractions, and has, in recent years, cultivated a sophisticated, trendy, and modern sensibility that many have come to expect from a European capital. MEETING VENUE Ideally located right in the heart of the city, very close to the Old Town, Novotel City Center, the Venue of the meeting offers not only an exceptional location, but also a unique blend of classical architecture and modern, functional design. Novotel Bucharest City Center is located among the historic monuments (Royal Palace, Romanian Atheneum), Museums (National History Museum, Romanian National Art Museum), Special Tourist Areas (Old Town – Lipscani, Bucharest Botanical Garden, Cismigiu Park) and other attractions. GALA DINNER 19 October 2013, 19:30pm 65 EUR / person (VAT included) To make a reservation for the Gala Dinner, please access the Registration Form on the website of the conference: www.esvomeeting2013.org.
