New Bible Stud
The next Bible study begins the week of Sep. 14th.
They will be offered three times:
Monday evenings beginning
on Sept. 14, from 7 to 9pm
Thursday afternoons beginning Sept. 17, from 12:30 to 2pm
Thursday evenings beginning
Sept. 17, from 7 to 9pm
All three sessions will be a 10 week study on the book of
James. Please join us at any of these sessions as we
study the book of James. James is one of the most
practical books of the Bible. Like the book of Proverbs, it
is a book of wisdom, a collection of teachings on issues
faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life. These
teachings speak loudly to all those who feel torn between
the competing demands of this world and their faith. The
study offers "pearls of wise living" by applying the wisdom
of James to the present day. For anyone who has
struggled to live a truly Christian life, James offers a
wealth of practical solutions for handling and even
sanctifying everyday circumstances.
For more information, please contact Penny
Eisenhut at 862-1235.
Dear Friends of Holy Spirit,
This is the second weekend that
we are taking registration for our new
men’s program, “That Man Is You.” I
am encouraged by the early response and hope that
many more men will step forward. This is a chance
to grow in your relationship with God and how this
relationship affects our daily living. To be held at the
Knights of Columbus at 10th and Post, we will begin
at 6 AM on September 21st!
Of the two new small church communities (SCC)
that we formed this summer, one is specifically for
young adults, 18-30. This is for those who would
like to develop a community with other young people
in the church and have the chance to grow in their
faith. Although this group has been meeting for
about 3 months, they are still open to new members.
If anyone is interested, just contact me at
pkoetter@hol spirit.cc.
In our second reading from St. James today hear
that our faith must be active in how we help others.
As St. James says, “If a brother or sister has nothing
to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you
says to them ,’Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,’
but you do not give them the necessities of the body,
what good is it?” Our faith must find express in how
we care for each other. Our cookie drive for the
homeless this weekend is an example of this. It
might be a small step, but we are actively living out
our faith.
I am sure you have seen the many news releases about the migrant crisis in Europe. If you
would like to help, donations can be made through
Catholic Relief Services at CRS.org/migrantcrisis, or
mail to CRS, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 212970303. We are all brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Honduras Free Will
Offering
Great News! You can now make
your Honduras Free Will Offering
online! Have you ever found yourself
without any cash or not the right denomination of cash or
you were out of town that weekend in order to make your
Honduras Free Will Offering on the third weekend of the
month? Problem solved. You can now make your contribution online through the Holy Spirit web site just like
you make your regular weekly contributions or your Renovation fund payments. It is simple to go to the Holy Spirit
site and choose “Giving”, log in, and select “Honduras
Free Will Offering” under the payment type you wish to
make. You can do it manually each month or put it on a
recurring basis monthly for your convenience. This also
captures your donation for your Holy Spirit tax donation
records. If you still prefer to give cash monthly contributions in the baskets after mass on the third weekend, we
will still be there to gladly receive your gift and express
our appreciation for our friends at San Francisco de Asís
parish in Texiguat, Honduras. As always, may God bless
you for your generosity!

SUBSTANCE ADDICTION
MINISTRY (SAM)
Hope, the belief that these challenges and
conditions can be overcome, is the foundation of recovery. A person’s recovery is built on his or her
strengths, talents, coping abilities, resources, and inherent
values. It is holistic, addresses the whole person and their
community, and is supported by peers, friends, and family
members.
The process of recovery is highly personal and occurs via
many pathways. It may include clinical treatment, medications, faith-based approaches, peer support, family support, self-care, and other approaches. Recovery is characterized by continual growth and improvement in one’s
health and wellness that may involve setbacks. Because
setbacks are a natural part of life, resilience becomes a
key component of recovery.
Resilience refers to an individual’s ability to cope with adversity and adapt to challenges or change. Resilience develops over time and gives an individual the capacity not
only to cope with life’s challenges but also to be better
prepared for the next stressful situation. Optimism and the
ability to remain hopeful are essential to resilience and the
process of recovery.

Mental Health Services Administration)
“To all of you who struggle against addiction, and to those
family members who share in your difficulties: the Church
is not distant from your troubles, but accompanies you
with affection. The Lord is near you and he takes you by
the hand. Look to him in your most difficult moments and
he will give you consolation and hope.”
(Pope Francis, while blessing a new wing dedicated to the rehabilitation of drug
users at St. Francis of Assisi Hospital in Rio de Janero, July 2013)

Carta del Pastor Asociado
Queridos amigos de la Iglesia
Espíritu Santo,
•
propios);
que nos toca cerca);
tantas colonias);
cuartito vacío y ganas de servir);
drogas o de los malos amigos);
con los precios actuales…);
ni hacer cuentas);
de perdida, en no dar malos consejos);
entiende);
compañero de trabajo);
“próximos”: los de casa);
hermanos separados.
¡Dios los bendiga!

DIFUNTOS Y ENFERMOS DE NUESTRA COMUNIDAD
Oración por los Enfermos
Autor: Su santidad Juan Pablo II
dolores, acoge nuestros sufrimientos
y únelos a los de Él, para que las
semillas esparcidas durante el
Jubileo sigan produciendo frutos

Tenemos formas
adicionales en el vestíbulo oeste.
