THE ROCHESTER GANG!
ANDY’S SLAP SHOT
Nine Dare Devils and Goalie Carlo from the CT Storm made an awesome team as the Dare Devils played in the
annual Rochester Friendship Tournament. The Dare Devils played 3 games over the weekend highlighted by the
play of Sam Ciemiecki who scored 2 goals. The weekend also saw the return of fan favorite Marco Cicchino who
was all business as he made his way through the mostly Canadian competition. Marco took the weekend off from
his studies but will be locked in as finals are approaching.
The gang had a great time in the city as they made there way to various night spots. Here’s Angie’s recap of their
night at Sticky Lips
Sticky Lips is a BBQ pit restaurant and is located right next door to the hotel most of us were staying at – coming
in late Friday night all you see is the big sign and then you see the restaurant, so of course you know there was a
lot of buzz about the place. Our families wanted to go there for our team dinner before the tournament party the
Ice Cats were hosting. I made the arrangements (they don’t usually take reservations on Saturday nights) and was
able to persuade the manager to accommodate our group. All was set, everyone rushed back to the hotel after
the last game for showers. Upon arrival for our reservation time we encountered a big problem at the restaurant,
we were told they had no seating for us and the place WAS PACKED! The manager said a kid vomited in the area
we would be sitting in, YIKES! SO needless to say, we needed a Plan B – that’s when it got fun…..one of the
Mom’s suggested asking about take-out from Sticky Lips - GREAT IDEA! – after a quick negotiation with the manager he took Coach Ritter and myself down into where it all happens! We got to talk to the Smoker Guy directly
to execute our plan - Coach was in heaven with the size of the kitchen, smokers for the different meats, and the
intense aroma of pit smoke – we quickly picked the menu for our hungry group - we were then led out a back
door and told to come back in 45 minutes to pick up our food and settle the bill. The food was delicious!
What a great experience, teamwork turned lemons into lemonade! MANY THANKS to our Dad’s and Kids that
helped carry the food back to the hotel banquet room, and MANY THANKS to our Mom’s for setting up! It was a
close call as we could have lost Ritter over at Sticky Lips for sure, stay tuned as Coach found his calling and is coming out with a new cologne line of BBQ pit smoke smell soon….LOL!
Don’t forget NLT dates for April. 16th& 23rd. If you’re short on credits make every effort to attend.
