The Stickhandler is all about HOCKEY, offering a wide variety of hockey related merchandise, including jerseys, hats, jackets, memorabilia, books, cards, hockey-themed home décor and so much more. Through their relationship with Fathead Canada The Stickhandler can order any type or size of Fathead décor available. And through their partnership with Integral Hockey, can repair broken composite hockey sticks for a small fraction or replacement cost. Owner Gus Eyers has recently celebrated The Stickhandler’s 2nd year in Mitchell on the 15th of January. Originally motivated to start a business in Mitchell when a friend in Port Elgin who owned an Integral hockey franchise for the Grey/Bruce County region encouraged him to consider starting a similar business in Perth County. Gus who has a background in retail intended to focus mainly on repairing broken composite hockey sticks through partnership with Integral Hockey, but after attending a gift show in Toronto and with encouragement from Jackie (from Floral Treasures) he picked up some merchandise for the store and purchased the Integral Hockey franchise for Perth County. Shifting the main focus from repairing composite hockey sticks to the selling of hockey related merchandise and memorabilia. Gus believes that the BIA does wonderful work for the community and is glad and proud to be a member. Gus feels that the good that the BIA does often goes unnoticed and that it’s important for the community to understand what the BIA does and how it benefits the community. As a member of the BIA Gus encourages people to come out to the meetings: to learn new things and contribute new ideas. NEXT BIA MEETING After two years in Mitchell, Gus couldn’t be happier with how the community has supported his business. As The Stickhandler continues to grow, Gus will strive to bring new and interesting items into the store focusing on old hockey memorabilia (photos, signage, books etc.) and will be offering the purchase of items online via The Stickhandler website in mid March. If you love hockey or know someone that does please visit The Stickhandler! For more information please visit the Stickhandler website at http://www.thestickhandler.net/ or find them on facebook! Your next BIA meeting is on February 11, 2015 at 6:15 pm at the Municipal Building. Please try to attend, it is wonderful to have your input and guidance on all discussions made!
