Nov/Dec Adult Program Listing Adult Programs: McConnell Library 7-9pm Baddeck Library Tues Nov 3rd Gaelic Language & Culture Series: Author Reading Soren Bondrup-Neilsen, an ecologist from Acadia University will introduce his new book A Sound Like Water Dripping: In Search of the Boreal Owl and share his passion and infectious sense of adventure in exploring the natural world. Wed Nov 4th Holocaust Remembrance High School teacher, Mike Kelly, will give an historical overview of the Holocaust and offer an interpretation of how society allowed such an event to happen. Thurs Nov 5th Custom Bra Fitting 85% of women are wearing the wrong bra size …are you? Join Ann Ball and Paula Kennedy-Petley (RN) from Beauty by Jeunique for an information session on the health benefits of wearing a properly fitting bra. Fri Nov 6th Book Launch (6-8 pm) Written by David Newton, Kipling’s Canadian chronicles the round the world exploits of MPP, maverick soldier and mapmaker, Colonel Fraser Hunter, a Canadian at the center of international intrigue in the “Great Game” in the early 1900’s. Tues Nov 10th Author Reading Dorris Heffron’s latest book City Wolves is a novel of historical fiction about Canada’s first woman veterinarian, Meg Wilkinson, who became the Dog Doctor of Halifax in the 1890’s. Tues Nov 10th I Want to Grow Old in China (1-3:30 pm) Join Ronald Caplan for the launch of Canada’s Forgotten Hero, by Jim Lotz. This is a story of Cape Breton’s George Rice, photographer on the Lady Franklin Bay Expedition, 1881-1884. Thousands of elderly in Beijing go to Park Tuanjiehu early each morning to take part in a diverse range of life cultivating activities from gymnastics to singing to quiet meditaion. This film by Sameer Farooq (whose mother lives in Sydney), presents an alternative view of growing old, and a wonderful use of public spaces!
