FORT WORTH STOCK SHOW
SETS NEW DATES
Hello Friends,
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and are ready for the New Year. A great way
for Limousin enthusiasts to start the New Year is the Cowtown Classic Limousin Sale,
Level I Medal of Excellence Show, and the TLA’s annual member meeting on February 1
& 2 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The dates for the 2013 Fort Worth Stock have been announced and
there are changes that will affect the schedule of Limousin events. The
Lone Star Shoot-Out will be Saturday, January 26, the junior heifer
show will be Sunday, January 27. The Cowtown Classic Limousin Sale
will be Friday, February 1, and the major MOE open Limousin show
will Saturday, February 2.
ForT WORTH STOCK SHOW
ANNOUNCES JUDGES FOR
2013 LIMOUSIN SHOW
The Fort Worth Stock Show is one of best of its kind in North America and is a
great venue for Limousin breeders to exhibit their product to potential customers and
see firsthand the best genetics the breed has to offer. This year’s Cowtown Classic may
be the strongest offering yet with 43 lots consigned by several breeders from across
the country. The annual meeting will give members the opportunity to vote on new
directors and hear what the association plans for 2013.
Junior Limousin heifers will be evaluated by Ryan Cotton of Ponce
Inlet, Florida. The junior Limousin heifers will show following the Red
Angus on Sunday, January 27.
The Major Medal of Excellence Lim-Flex and Limousin Shows will be
judged by Dave Allen of Schulenburg, Texas.
The weekend events will conclude with a social hour, dinner and banquet. It is a great
time to visit with old friends and make new ones. The benefit auction completes the
night and is an important part of the TLA’s budget. If you would like to donate items
to the auction please contact the TLA office, Marci Perrin at (940) 393-3357 or Vicki
Brehm at (210) 771-3147.
The Lone Star Shoot-Out will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at
4 p.m. in the cattle arena at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Exhibitors who
purchased nominated heifers at TLA-sanctioned sales throughout the
year will be eligible to compete for $5,200 in premiums. Michael Schertz
of Denton, Texas will judge this year’s show.
LONE STAR SHOOT-OUT PURSE IS $5200
TLA’s ANNUAL MEMBER
MEETING, BANQUET AND
BENEFIT AUCTION IS FEB 2
The Radisson Fossil Creek Hotel in Fort Worth is the host hotel for all of the events
and a TLA room block has been set up. We hope to see you there.
The Texas Limousin Association will hold its annual membership
meeting at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 2 at the Radisson Fossil Creek
located at 2540 Meacham Blvd in Ft Worth, Texas. A social hour will
begin at 7 p.m. followed by a banquet and benefit auction at 8 p.m. The
benefit auction provides for many TLA activities. Contact Marci Perrin
at 903-393-3357 if you are interested in donating items.
Sincerely,
Ralph

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope everyone is enjoying the

Worth is just around the corner and we hope to see all our friends and the
TJLA family there. Be sure to check your tattoos while you’re packing the
showbox. Fort Worth is also having the second Lone Star Shoot-Out show on
Saturday, January 26 at 4 p.m. We wish all of the exhibitors the best of luck on

little further south. TJLA will be planning a get-together dinner social, going
out to eat as a big family. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at all the

Linda Baber Family Fun Day & Quilt Raffle
Last year the TLA and TJLA lost a great friend
with the passing of Linda Baber. Linda truly enjoyed
the junior activities and was always ready to lend a
hand. A family fun day has been planned to honor
Linda’s memory at the 2013 Field Day in Bryan.
Alysa Smith has made a quilt of t-shirts from several
previous Junior Nationals and has donated it to
raise funds for the family fun night. Raffle tickets
are being sold on this quilt at a cost of $5 each and
a drawing will be held at the TLA banquet Saturday
February 2. Tickets may be purchased by contacting

There is no doubting the value
crossbreeding brings in terms of enhanced
growth, longevity and maternal efficiency
through heterosis. We believe YRTX Xberry
218X exhibits the traits we strive for in our
crossbreeding programs. He may be one of
stoutest halfblood bulls we have ever seen.
He is big-topped, big-butted, moves freely
on both ends, and is extremely docile.
We are offering semen on this top

history repeat itself with the offering of a pick
of the flush from Amy Jo DHAN 20L. It was in
Fort Worth when the first pick of the flush was
offered from this great cow. That flush wrote a
significant page in the Limousin history books
when the flush produced Ace, Deuce & Trey –
the trifecta of sires whose semen packages were
the high selling lots at several Cowtown Classic
sales. Their offspring have proven their worth
in the show ring and the pasture. The females
from this same flush were Alma Jo and Ashton Jo
show ring winners and proven donors.
