Read through this guide to learn about all the ministries you can get involved in and participate in life at Baptist Grove! 7109 Leesville Road | Raleigh, NC 27613 | Office: 919.787.4528 | Fax: 919.787.3623 | Crisis Hotline: 919.592.9621 THE LIFE GUIDE OF BAPTIST GROVE SPRING 2014 Our Vision Our vision is to reach, grow, and empower committed followers of Jesus Christ, who live life to the fullest, through growing in relationship with God, strengthening relationships with others, and bringing life to the world through service. Live Out Your Faith Praise the Lord for His compassion, faithfulness, and love towards us. We are grateful for our salvation and that God has planted us as members of Baptist Grove Church. My prayer for you, as your pastor, is that you will not only “go” to Baptist Grove but that you will “Grow” at Baptist Grove. We want you to grow so that you can live the abundant life that God has purposed for you (John 10:10). All throughout the New Testament, there is an emphasis on growing in discipleship (Colossians 1:9-10, 2 Peter 3:18, Ephesians 4:12-13, 15-16, Titus 2:11-14, 2 Peter 1:5-8, Hebrews 6:1-2). Based upon these scriptures and the exhortations we see in the New Testament, spiritual growth is important! How can we grow? I believe the heart of spiritual growth is found in this simple truth—“Faith that is growing is faith that is active; Faith that is active is faith that is growing.” Living out your faith through being active in discipleship programs is a great foundation for spiritual growth, which translates into a life that is in greater harmony with the example of Christ. Participating in fellowship opportunities will help you grow in your love for others, which translates into greater unity. Participating in service will help you grow in humility and compassion, which translates into more opportunities to be a light to the community and the world (Matthew 5:16). Your life is headed in the right direction since you made a decision to follow Christ. We pray you are empowered to live out your faith by making a commitment to get involved in one of our amazing ministries. I pray you will be blessed by this guide, but more importantly, by your involvement in the ministries to which it leads you. Sincerely, Reverend Bankole Akinbinu, Pastor 2 THE LIFE GUIDE OF BAPTIST GROVE SPRING 2014 CHURCH OFFICE AND CAMPUS INFORMATION OFFICE HOURS Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm OFFICE NUMBER 919.787.4528 CAMPUS HOURS Monday-Friday 9am-9pm Saturday-Sunday 9am-1pm (with the exception of holidays, rehearsals and committee meetings) EXT. We are disciples purposed to spread the good news and make other disciples. We know that this can take most of us out of our comfort zone, but as you prepare to share your faith: 1. Pray 2. Rely on the Power of the Holy Spirit 3. Use the “Romans Road” as a Biblical map for what salvation entails and who can be saved (see below) Romans 3:23-“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (The Problem). Romans 6:23-“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (The Consequences of our Sin and God’s Gift). Romans 5:8-“But God proves his Love for us in that while we are sinners Christ died for us” (God’s Remedy). Romans 10:9-10-“If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved” (The Decision). 13 THE LIFE GUIDE OF BAPTIST GROVE SPRING 2014 SPECIAL CALENDAR DAYS 2014 CALENDAR Special Services Communion Every First Sunday March 5–Ash Wednesday March 5–April 17–Lent March 16–Be A Blessing Sunday March 30–Service Sunday April 2, 3, 4–Revival April 13–Palm Sunday April 17–Maundy/Thursday April 18–Good Friday April 20–Easter Sunday April 27–Pastoral Anniversary May 11– Mother’s Day May 16, 17, 18–Evening Concert/Young Adult Luncheon/Women’s Day June 8 –Men’s Day June 15–Father’s Day June 15–Be A Blessing Sunday June 22–Graduation /Recognition Sunday June 29 –Service Sunday July 27–Annual Youth Day July 27–Church Picnic–Pullen Park August 17–Be A Blessing Sunday August 31–Service Weekend September 27, 28–Homecoming 2014 October 26–Tailgate Sunday October 8, 15, 22–Fall Church Institute October 31–Fall Fun Fest November 16–Be A Blessing Sunday November 23 –Service Weekend December 31–Watch Night Service Church Holidays January 1, 2015 –New Year’s Day January 20, 2014–Martin Luther King, Jr. Day February 17, 2014–President’s Day April 21, 2014–Easter Monday May 26, 2014–Memorial Day July 4, 2014 –Independence Day September 1, 2014–Labor Day November 27, 28, 2014–Thanksgiving Day December 24, 25, 26, 2014–Christmas Holiday Baptism Orientation January 8 March 8 June 7 September 13 December 13 Baptism March 16 June 15 September 21 December 21 14 THE LIFE GUIDE OF BAPTIST GROVE SPRING 2014 SUPPORTING BAPTIST GROVE THROUGH GIVING Financial Support The faithful and generous contributions from our members and supporters enable us to grow in the ministry we offer within and outside our church.
