UltraCheck® SPT and TST System
UltraCheck® SPT and TST System
Software
UltraCheck Spring
Pack Tester (SPT)
AREVA’s Spring Pack Tester (SPT), developed in
cooperation with Limitorque, verifies that installed
spring packs are capable of producing desired torque
outputs, provides torque versus torque switch setting
data, provides estimates of output thrust (dependent
on stem factor), identifies defective or incorrectly
assembled spring packs, and allows trending of
spring pack performance.
Torque switches have minor manufacturing
differences that can be identified and adjusted using
the UltraCheck Torque Switch Testers (TST). When
used with the AREVA Spring Pack Tester System, a
customized performance curve can be generated
for the specific spring pack and torque switch being
used in a specific actuator. The TST allows quick
verification and adjustment of torque switch balance
efforts and assists in determining where the open
and closed switches should be adjusted before final
testing begins. This information can help expedite
testing in the field.
Spring Types
• Limitorque spring packs
• Coil springs
• Belleville washer sets
Sensory Capabilities
• 25,000 lb. load cell
• 0”-2” LVDT
• User-friendly, Windows-based
• MS XP, VISTA and Windows-7 compatibility
• Same “look and feel” as other UltraCheck
diagnostic platforms
• Interface with UltraCheck M software
• USB interface with conditioning electronics
• Automated data acquisition
• Real-time data acquisition
• Linear regression routine improves spring rate
curve accuracy
• Graphic overlay features for trending and
comparison to reference curves
• Torque switch test data can be entered to
determine theoretical range of actuator capacity
UltraCheck Torque
Switch Tester (TST) Set
• Used with the Spring Pack Tester System
• Test Limitorque actuator torque switches in sizes
SMB-000 through SMB-4
• Reduced radiation exposure
• Allows check-out of new replacement switches in
the warehouse
• Permits torque switches to be adjusted and
returned to service instead of being replaced
Features and Benefits
• Non-intrusive
• Fast, easy and accurate
• Improved plant efficiency through optimal valve
configuration/calibration
• Decreased unscheduled, unexpected and
non-budgeted repairs by detecting problem valves
prior to failure
• Lower repair cost by focusing only on valves that
require maintenance
Measured displacement and force, calculated torque
and predicted thrust for actuator torque switch settings.
Our TST Set includes a set of three testers:
Actuator size SMB-000, Actuator size SMB-00, Actuator size
SMB-0 to SMB-4
Spring Pack data is presented for individual data channels
(displacement and force in time domain), top and middle, plus
Spring Rate Curve, bottom.
Spring Pack curve overlayed with a standard reference curve.

Detailed graphics of data are possible, such as the
Displacement vs. Torque plot shown, with values for each
torque switch setting. All data presented in this table can be
shown graphically.
