Plant Description
The new primary crushing plant incorporates the processing of limestone and clay at the
same time. The two materials are stored in separate hoppers, from where they are extracted
simultaneously by apron conveyor and fed into the HAZEMAG Primary Impactor for processing. The clay is extracted from a hopper by an apron conveyor installed at right angles to the
limestone apron conveyor. Since the clay has an H20 content of up to 23 %, the hopper has
been specially designed to ensure the trouble-free handling of this sticky material. The clay is
discharged onto the limestone conveyor which is already covered with a layer of limestone,
thus preventing the clay from adhering to the main apron conveyor.
As the feed material mixture can have a moisture content of up to 14 % H20, all the main
parts of the impactor coming into contact with the material, such as inlet plate, impact
aprons, etc. are heated by an indirect thermal oil heating system resulting in the immediate
evaporation of the feed material surface water on contact and reducing the caking hazard to
a minimum. The rugged impactor is fitted with a heavy duty, welded cast steel rotor type
GSK and with a grinding path thus producing the required granulometry in a single pass.
In order to guarantee the necessary consistent cross-sectional belt loading for a downstream
cross-belt analyzer, a small intermediate hopper is provided underneath the impactor outlet,
from which a light-weight design apron conveyor can continuously extract a constant amount
of material. Additionally, this conveyor is mounted on load cells, so that the material flow can
be measured at the same time. This apron feeder discharges its constant load onto the
downstream belt conveyor for the further transport to the mixing bed.
In order to guarantee a consistently high quality and optimum mix of the crushed raw material prior to stockpiling on the mixing bed, the conveyor belt downstream of the impactor is
fitted with a cross-belt analyzer, which continuously analyzes the composition of the crushed
material. The results of the analysis are evaluated and used to control the speed of the feed
material apron conveyors and thus to optimise the mixture already in front of the mixing bed.
